Mass Effect TV series casting calls leak, sparking speculation Male Shepard is canon

by admin September 17, 2025

Casting details for Amazon’s forthcoming Mass Effect TV series have leaked, with fans speculating on which characters from the games will be included.

As shared by entertainment insider Daniel Richtman, five casting calls have leaked. These are: a young Colin Farrell-type male (30-39) with open ethnicity; a female co-lead alien character requiring prosthetics (34-39); a female human providing a parallel narrative from Earth; a Doug Jones-type male villain (40-60); and a male wrestler-type soldier (30-49).

Amazon has provided no details on the show’s story, so it’s unclear if it will be based on BioWare’s original Mass Effect trilogy or if it will focus on entirely new characters in the same universe.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition – Official Launch Trailer (4K)Watch on YouTube

Still, these vague character descriptions have provided enough for fans to speculate on. In particular, the female co-lead alien seems primed to be fan-favourite blue alien Liara T’Soni.

However, the Colin Farrell-type male could prove the most controversial. Fans have guessed this could be a male Commander Shepard, protagonist of the original trilogy – but this would assume MaleShep is canon over the female option.

Many fans prefer FemShep due to the performance of voice actor Jennifer Hale, so Amazon needs to tread carefully with the TV show if it’s following the games and intends to cement certain story decisions – Shepard’s gender especially.

The female human on Earth is an interesting prospect, considering the only similar character in the games would be Captain Anderson in Mass Effect 3. Some fans have suggested journalist Emily Wong could be an alternative, while one proposed FemShep could still exist in the same universe like the twins in Andromeda.

Saren from Mass Effect 1 would fit the bill for a Doug Jones-type villain (the actor is known for his non-human roles in The Shape of Water and Hellboy), while the male wrestler-type soldier certainly describes James Vega. But most importantly of all: in this scenario, who’s playing Garrus?!

Of course, this could all be entirely incorrect if Amazon chooses a story separate to the games, though you’d surely anticipate the team leaning on familiarity with the games at least for marketing purposes.

Back in July, it was revealed the Mass Effect series would be helmed by many of the team behind Amazon’s Fallout show. That’s proven particularly successful – and notably takes inspiration from the games without following them directly.

Amazon’s Mass Effect TV adaptation was officially announced in November last year. At the start of this year, Eurogamer spoke with Jennifer Hale who stated the game’s original cast should return for the TV series, even if just for cameos.

“I think they’d be really smart to pull as much of the original cast into the show in cameos and Easter eggs and recurring and regular [roles] as possible,” she said. “I think that would be an absolutely genius move.”

Two More Heroes Join Marvel Cosmic Invasion’s Large Roster

by admin September 17, 2025

The upcoming retro-inspired brawler Marvel Cosmic Invasion is one of the coolest-looking Marvel games in years. And now we know the identities of two more Marvel characters who will be joining the pixelated action when Cosmic Invasion launches later this year. One of them is a very popular character you are likely familiar with, and the other is Cosmic Ghost Rider.

Announced in March during a Nintendo Direct, Marvel Cosmic Invasion is a side-scrolling 2D pixel-art beat ’em up being developed by Tribute Games. That’s the team behind Mercenary Kings and the totally rad TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge, which was also a 2D co-op brawler. Cosmic Invasion, like Tribute’s past work, looks to be another snappy and action-packed retro throwback that I’ll be playing over and over with friends. We’ll all have a huge roster of characters to pick from, as Tribute and Marvel have confirmed that 15 heroes will be available at launch. And now we know two more names that have made the cut: Black Panther and Cosmic Ghost Rider.

On September 17, Tribute put out a trailer showing off the newly announced Cosmic Invasion characters, which you can watch below:

I likely don’t need to explain who Black Panther is to most people reading a video game website in 2025. The character has appeared in multiple games, movies, and award-winning comics and has become extremely popular, thanks in large part to the fantastic performance delivered by the late Chadwick Boseman in the MCU. However, Cosmic Ghost Rider is a bit more obscure and quite an odd duck. The short version is that he’s an alt-universe version of The Punisher that died and became the Ghost Rider and then met up with Galactus, who made him his Herald aka his new Silver Surfer basically. Yeah, it’s weird. But hey, he’s literally got Cosmic in his name, so he seems like a fine choice for Cosmic Invasion.

Every character confirmed for Marvel Cosmic Invasion

Here are all the Marvel Cosmic Invasion characters that have been officially revealed so far. As mentioned, the full roster will include 15 people, so after today’s reveal, that leaves just three more heroes left to unveil.

  • Captain America
  • Spider-Man
  • Venom
  • Wolverine
  • Storm
  • Phyla-Vell
  • Nova
  • Rocket Raccoon
  • She-Hulk
  • Beta Ray Bill
  • Silver Surfer
  • Black Panther
  • Cosmic Ghost Rider

It makes sense that the game will feature a huge roster, as the big gimmick in Cosmic Invasion is that everyone picks two characters that you can then swap between while playing. This means that if four players join the game, you’ll be rolling into fights with eight Marvel characters. Good luck to all the random, nameless goons trying to fight Venom, Storm, Wolverine, Spider-Man, and Black Panther.

Marvel Cosmic Invasion looks great and sounds like a blast based on previews of the upcoming brawler. We still don’t have a specific release date for the game yet beyond 2025. Hopefully it lands soon, though maybe not in October. That month is already a mess.

Everything To Know About Arkheron

by admin September 17, 2025

In a world of franchises, sequels, and remasters, it’s refreshing to see a new IP from a new studio delivering its very first title. Bonfire Studios – founded by the lead designer of World of Warcraft, Rob Pardo – is about to deliver an original, PvP isometric free-aim game set in a realm full of otherworldly combat and stunning character designs. Welcome to Arkheron.

The game has been shrouded in mystery for years, but light is finally being shed on the world of Arkheron and its unique approach to top-down gameplay. Here’s Everything To Know about Arkheron.

What is Arkheron about?

Arkheron is a supernatural plane of existence where players each become a nameless, faceless entity called an “Echo.” These ghostly beings are the souls of people who died with unfinished business, and each match starts with the player’s unarmed Echo waking up at the bottom of a mysterious tower, believing that getting to the top of this creepy structure will give them the peace they need to pass on.

Because Arkheron pits teams of players against one another, the only way to progress through the tower is to defeat other teams in combat using weapons and armor found throughout the tower. Win, and your team will ascend through the tower. Lose, and you’ll start from the bottom floor again.

Where is Arkheron set?

While Arkheron chooses to focus on PvP gameplay over interactive narrative, the developers have created a rich world within the ethereal dark tower for players to battle their way through. The tower is both familiar and alien to the Echoes because it is the physical manifestation of their lives before death.

The surreal nature of this strange dimension means that each floor of the tower is filled with different locations that are shaped by those memories. This means that players will have to brawl their way through some bizarre maps as they ascend through the tower.

Imagine Diablo or League of Legends, if they took place in the dreamy world of The Sandman… Or just look at some pictures, I guess.

Gameplay in Arkheron

The main mode in Arkheron is the Ascension Royale, which sees 15 teams of three players going head-to-head to claim beacons within each map, while fighting other teams and progressing to the top of the tower over three matches. Claiming the beacons allows players to move to the next floor, also reviving any fallen teammates at the same time. Teams are knocked out of each match until it becomes a final showdown of three versus three to see who will claim victory at the top of the tower.

One of the most surprising elements of the top-down game is its free-flowing camera that allows the player to swivel their view to line up shots, almost like a shooter – a unique perspective for combat compared to other isometric titles that have come before it.

Players should also pay close attention to Arkheron’s immersive audio, because they’ll be able to hear other teams, monsters, and other subtle clues that’ll be vital to winning the match. Speaking of monsters: Be wary of a giant bird-statue-monster called the Fury. It’s an unkillable beast that will show up to cause chaos for everyone on the map before leaving. Think of it like an environmental event, because it will force teams to adapt to the carnage it leaves in its wake.

While other typical Royale modes let players pick their weapons and armor, in Arkheron, everyone has to explore the tower to build their loadout. This means that no two matches are the same, and Bonfire Studios has crammed Arkheron with a variety of wild weapons and armor called “Relics.” Players can only carry four Relics at a time: two weapons and two pieces of armor.

Each Relic comes with a right-click and a left-click action, allowing players to wield multiple special powers or buffs at once. It means you can find the right skills that work for your playstyle in that specific match. This keeps things fresh, rather than players constantly maining one character class or loadout. During the press preview, the studio showed off a glimpse of weapons like a giant ice hammer, a ruby-tipped crossbow, and a magical golden staff, and confirmed that while you can mix the Relics together, most items come in sets of four.

So, what happens when you collect a full set?

How to play as an Eternal in Arkheron

Once you’ve run around the map to collect a full set of these ancient relics like a supernatural Lara Croft, Arkheron gives you the option to either use these powerful items as they are OR collect them for special effects. Collect a set of two in a mixed build to get a set bonus, or collect four items of a set to transform into a being called an Eternal (not affiliated with the Gemma Chan or Kumail Nanjiani versions).

Eternals are hero characters that have retained their sense of consciousness even in death, unlike the nameless Echoes that players usually control. They come with a fifth ability, which can make players even more intimidating during battle, but do come with a trade-off: Once you’ve chosen to become an Eternal, you no longer have the freedom to change your build for the rest of that match.

We saw a glimpse of one Eternal during the preview called Irenna, an icy warrior with white hair, piercing blue eyes, and a giant icy spike on each shoulder. Oh, and let’s not forget that massive ice hammer that had gargoyle-like faces in it.

Who developed Arkheron?

Arkheron was developed by Bonfire Studios, a company co-founded in 2016 by former Blizzard Entertainment CCO Rob Pardo. Before the game’s official announcement, Pardo told the press that the team settled on the concept that became Arkheron after everyone in the company was given the opportunity to pitch a game. After that, the studio whittled the pitches down into seven core ideas, which they then expanded on further before ultimately agreeing that Arkheron was the concept the team was most excited about.

When is Arkheron out?

While Arkheron doesn’t have an official release date yet, it will be available to play on PC, Xbox Series X & S, and PlayStation 5 in 2026. However, PC players can try it out this weekend in a Steam playtest running from Friday, September 19 to Sunday, September 21.

Little Nightmares 3 has a pint-sized bad dream demo out now, ahead of its arrival next month

by admin September 17, 2025

Supermassive Games have put out a demo for Little Nightmares 3, so you can give the spooky co-op puzzler a whirl before it arrives in October. “Step into the Necropolis”, the studio say. Go on then, that sounds like it has zero potential to end badly.

As our Nic conveyed earlier this year, Little Nightmares 3’s coming out October 10th. That date was unaffected by Supermassive laying off up to 36 people and delaying interstellar horror Directive 8020 in July.

Watch on YouTube

As you can see above, the demo’s come with a quick trailer heavy on sinister humming. The two titchy protagonists Low and Alone wind levers, climb through flaps, and otherwise platform. Oh no, this platforming has attracted the attention of a giant baby monster with grubby fingers that can reach for the duo like they’re the last Bourbon cream in the cupboard (other biscuits are available). Its gaze can also turn them to stone, which is a power alll babies have, they just hide it very well.

As in the full game, you and a mate can wield the bow and wrench of Little Nightmares 3’s pair, or you can play alone with an AI companion. Maybe give them the bow, I bet their aim’s pretty good. 30 minutes of small nightmaring await you either way.

If you’ve not given the Little Nightmares series a go before, here are a couple of extracts from former RPSers Adam and Alice B about the first and second games in the series respectively:

It’s a grotesque, horrid and eventually hopeful in its own morbid fashion, and despite many moments that feel like reimaginings or echoes from elsewhere, it has enough extraordinary images and sequences to stand alone. It’s precisely the kind of horror game I love – grotesque but not gross, and interested in thoughtful pacing and escalation rather than jumpscares and shocks. Also, linear though it is, there are some collectibles I’d like to hunt for and the whole game is short enough that I’ll happily play it again, or watch someone else playing.
These flaws are small enough that I’m happy to place Little Nightmares II up on my shelf of excellence right next to the first one. Childhood fears are such a rich vein to slice open, and Tarsier Studios do it in a very thoughtful way. Little Nightmares II is such a splendid mix of cute and creepy, beautiful and awful, that it sort of defies categorisation. A childhood terror gothic, perhaps?

You can find Little Nightmares 3’s demo on its Steam page.

Quirky horror with a timely story hidden beneath? Indie gem No, I’m not a Human might be one of my favourite games this year

by admin September 17, 2025

Going into No, I’m not a Human, I think I was expecting a quirky horror curio about identifying monsters in people-suits, which it sort of is – for a while. But slowly, it slips on a new face, and by the time things wrapped up several hours later in a smog of suffocating hopelessness and a smear of blood and bone, I was genuinely a little shellshocked by it all.

No, I’m not a Human

  • Developer: Trioskaz
  • Publisher: Critical Reflex
  • Platform: Played on PC
  • Availability: Out now on Steam

It’s clear from No, I’m not a Human’s strikingly assured opening moments that developer Trioskaz is completely in control of its vision. A lilting guitar strums over a photo montage of sunsets, swing sets, sleeping cats, and placid bays, while a muffled voice on the phone talks a little sadly about coming home. It’s an understated, unexpectedly melancholy start, but quickly its mood shifts again.

It’s night. You, whoever you are, stand in a sparsely decorated hallway, walls papered in disorientating swirls of lurid green. An upbeat melody plays insistently on the soundtrack, waning and warping in a way that immediately unnerves. Suddenly, a knock at the door; you peer through a peephole and a sullen face stares back – a concerned neighbour with news of a deadly heatwave, dangerous Visitors with human faces infiltrating homes, and a firm warning to stay indoors. (It’s a little weird my two favourite horror games this year, the other being Look Outside, involve people being trapped inside a building as meteorological calamity rages without, but that’s probably a story for another day). Then, bedtime.

Get used to this corridor – you’ll be seeing it a lot. | Image credit: Eurogamer/Trioskaz

Squint and there is, perhaps, a touch of PT here. As in Hideo Kojima’s oft-mimicked horror teaser, No, I’m not Human’s L-shaped hallway is your entire world. Sure, it has a couple of spartan rooms you can peer into either side, but for its duration this grim corridor – the game’s sole explorable 3D space – is pretty much everything you know. But unlike PT, which finds a kind of forward momentum in its endless loop, here you remain stuck – literally and thematically – in this stagnant hole. Even your limited means of interacting with the outside world – glimpses through peepholes and sealed windows, through TV broadcasts and muffled telephone calls – only serve to intensify No, I’m not Human’s sense of claustrophobic incarceration.

They come at night. | Image credit: Eurogamer/Trioskaz

With the scene set, things soon settle into a distinct rhythm – a cycle of repetition that’s suffocating in its own way. You sleep by day, as the burning sun turns the world to ash, then wake at dusk, always to another knock-knock-knock at the door. Each night as the world cools, a ghoulish parade of loners and losers – drunks, wasters, conspiracy theorists, religious nuts – appears on your doorstep, each requesting sanctuary. And it’s for you to decide whether to welcome them in or send them on their way. Any of them might be a Visitor – othered creatures with human faces and unclear intentions – but companionship, you’re warned, is critical for your survival. A nightmarish end supposedly awaits if you’re visited by the Pale One when all alone.

Quickly, a problem arises; undetected Visitors will pick off your guests one-by-one in the dead of night if you inadvertently invite one into your home. And other complications force your hand in different ways, as events unfold. But the effect is the same: your days are spent in mounting paranoia, roaming your house and interrogating guests using information gleaned from TV broadcasts and scrambled radio signals – all in a bid to identify Visitors and eject them from your home, with brutal, ugly violence or otherwise. It’s a sort of highwire juggling act, where you’re attempting to manipulate events using extremely transient resources and limited tools, but the way you always seem to be playing catch-up with No, I’m not Human’s ever-evolving rules suggests Trioskaz is deliberately setting you up to fail.

Slowly, your house fills up with guests… and Visitors? | Image credit: Eurogamer/Trioskaz

No, I’m not Human might present itself as a sort of quirky deduction horror, but it feels equally haunted by the spirits of This War of Mine, Papers, Please, and Pathologic 2. Gradually, almost imperceptibly, its initial affectations slip away; the mood grows sombre and an overbearing sense of hopelessness settles in. As you spend more time with your oddball guests (assuming they survive each night) they’ll begin to open up, sharing humanising stories of their strange, sad lives. Each glimpse out the window paints an increasingly severe picture of the world beyond. Glib observations make way for genuine pathos as cities burn, ash-faced corpses hang from telephone poles, and children rot in the streets. By the time my playthrough ended with the protagonist pounding another man’s face to a liquefied pulp using his bare hands, it felt like we’d come a long, long way in a few short hours.

Curiously, though, No, I’m not Human isn’t exactly a one-and-done adventure, and is instead designed for repeated play. Guests are randomised, as are the symptoms you’ll need to identify Visitors each time, and there are hints of new narrative revelations to uncover, if only the incessantly shifting pieces would correctly align. Admittedly, my eventual ending – as vicious as it was – felt a little arbitrary, struggling to pull my playthrough’s unique story beats together in a narratively satisfying way. It’s hard to tell if this is an inherent design flaw based on a single playthrough, but even so, No, I’m not Human remains a fascinating thing.

Before long, you’ll be checking guests for telltale symptoms. | Image credit: Eurogamer/Trioskaz

It offers a slithering, deeply idiosyncratic slide into darkness, and a bleak vision of an uncomfortably close future (as masked government stooges begin moving from home to home disappearing ‘visitors’, it quietly invites obvious parallels). But for all its squalid discomfort and smothering despair, there’s an unmistakable sliver of light at its core: find connection and compassion when all hope seems lost, it suggests, and humanity might just endure. Not what I was expecting to be thinking about when I fired up this unassuming little horror game.

Crucial T500 1TB Internal Gaming SSD Just Returned at a Record Low, Nearly the Same Cost as the 500GB Model

by admin September 17, 2025

Congratulations. You’ve decided to build yourself a deck-out gaming PC on your own. If it’s you’re first time, know you’re in for a cool and rewarding experience. Also know that the cost of all your parts can add up real quickly if you’re not careful. Between the motherboards, CPU, and graphics card, things can get pretty pricy. And then when you start considering all the accessories beyond the actually computer like a good monitor, keyboard and whatnot, you’ll be shocked by how high the bill can get. That’s why sales are your friend. Take this SSD for instance. The 1TB T500 is normally going for $144, but right now, you can score one for 38% off. You’ll save $55 as the price comes down all the way to just $89 for a limited time.

Meet all your gaming needs with this Gen4 gaming SSD from Crucial. It’s capable of super fast read and write speeds. We’re looking at read speeds of up to 7,300MB/s along with write speeds of up to 6,800MB/s. Play the latest releases without absurd load times. I hope you can figure out how to git gud on your own because those tool tips that appear on loading screens will be a thing of the past. When tested against other Gen4 SSDs, the Crucial T500 performed 16% faster.

See at Amazon

The internal will easily install into a laptop, desktop, or workstation’s M.2 slot. It’s not just great for gamers looking to store their game files, but really anyone who does any kind of high-end computing. Maybe you work with massive databases, maybe you’re a photographer saving a bunch of high-res RAW images and 4K video. You get a full 1TB on this Crucial T500 which should be plenty to work with. When working in creator apps like anything in the Adobe suite, you can get up to 42% faster performance when running heavy workloads or rendering photos or video.

PlayStation 5 Compatibility

If you aren’t building yourself a gaming PC or planning to use this on any PC for that matter, that means you likely intend to use it with your PlayStation 5. Just know up front that this SDD does not come with a heatsink. In case you’re unsure what that is, it’s just a tiny metal casing that goes around the drive. It allows heat to dissipate to prevent it from overheating. The good news if those aren’t very expensive, just about $7 to $15 on Amazon.

You Can Play Little Nightmares 3 Now, Even Though It Isn’t Out Yet

by admin September 17, 2025

If you’re anything like me, then you’ve been waiting for Little Nightmares 3 since before it was even officially announced. The game releases on October 10, but developer Supermassive Games has put a demo up on storefronts for free, and you can play it right now.

The demo will see you take control of Low and Alone in the game’s first area, The Necropolis–an abandoned city in the middle of a desert. Watch out for Monster Baby as you step into Little Nightmares 3 for the first time. You can play the demo solo or with friends in online co-op, but you must be playing on the same platform as Little Nightmares 3 crossplay is not available. However, it does support cross-generation play, so if you’re on a PlayStation 5, you can play with PlayStation 4 users.

Now Playing: Co-Op In Little Nightmares 3 Actually Makes The Game Scarier | GameSpot Preview

None of your progress will be transferred to the full release of the game, although there doesn’t appear to be an end date for the demo, so you can replay the first area as many times as you’d like to tide you through to the launch date.

Little Nightmares 3 is the first multiplayer offering in the series, and follows the story of Low and Alone–two best friends looking to escape the haunting Nowhere. While it can be played co-op, you can still play solo with AI controlling the other character. The game releases October 10 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.

$110 | Releases October 10

The Amazon-exclusive Mirror Edition costs $110 and includes all of the digital content found in the $60 Deluxe Edition as well as a handful of collectibles. The Mirror Edition comes with a cool Little Nightmares 3-themed collector’s box. Inside, you’ll find a vibrant steelbook case, miniature statue with Low and Alone figurines, a paperback art book, and more. You can preorder the Mirror Edition for PS5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch.

  • Low and Alone Figurine (12cm)
  • Steelbook Case
  • Art Book
  • Original Soundtrack on CD
  • Sticker Set
  • Themed Box
  • Base game in standard plastic case
  • Deluxe Edition in-game content
    • 2 additional chapters as DLC
    • Residents Costumes Pack – 4 Characters, 4 Costumes each
    • Ferryman Costumes Set
    • Dark Six Costumes Set (Preorder Bonus)

You’re essentially paying $50 for the collection of merch, which seems like a pretty good deal, especially when compared to some other collector’s editions in the $100 price range.

The figurine might be considered the marquee item in the Mirror Edition for many fans, but we also want to shout out the steelbook’s heartwarming design. Low is on the front cover, and Alone is on the back. Each character is reaching out for the other, so opening the case allows them to find their partner.

$60 | Releases October 10

If you don’t need the collectible goodies but want to play the post-launch DLC chapters, check out the $60 Deluxe Edition for Nintendo Switch 2, Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X. Along with the pair of DLC campaign add-ons, the physical Deluxe Edition comes with a bunch of extra costumes beyond the Dark Six Costumes preorder bonus. Here’s the full breakdown of the Deluxe Edition:

  • Physical edition for Switch 2, Switch, PS5, or Xbox Series X
  • 2 post-launch campaign chapters
  • Residents Costumes Pack – 4 Characters, 4 Costumes each
  • Ferryman Costumes Set – 2 Costumes
  • Dark Six Costumes Set (Preorder Bonus)

$40 | Releases October 10

Diablo 4’s Season 10 doesn’t look to be the one to solve its problems, but there’s some new content to see you to the end of 2025

by admin September 17, 2025

The launch of Diablo 4 Season 10 is almost upon us. Ahead of the new season’s start on September 23, Blizzard hosted a Developer Update livestream, and delivered a packed show all about the upcoming season.

This was really mainly a recap of the season’s 2.4.0. PTR, while giving players unfamiliar with the goings-on a more consolidated way to catch up on everything new coming with Season 10.

Season 10, of course, is Season of Infernal Chaos. It’s the last thing on the Diablo 4 roadmap, published in April. We’ve obviously known the name for a while, but much of what’s coming with the new season itself follows the template set by past ones.

There are new abilities to earn – this time called Chaos Perks, as well as new activities that feed into the grind of earning the new rewards. There’s also a refresh of several endgame activities, most notably Infernal Hordes, which incidentally also affects the Eternal Realm.

Perhaps the most interesting addition is Chaos Armor, a new Unique armor type – available only during the season. Even there, it’s not as exciting as it could’ve been, as the main point is to shuffle the powers of Uniques to slots they don’t currently support.

For example, a powerful Unique piece of chest armor can now appear as gloves, at higher power and with at least one Greater Affix. While you won’t be able to have the same Unique equipped at the same tim (both Chaos and standard), having a named Unique drop in a slot that’s different from the one it was initially designed for frees you up to equip something else (perhaps another Unique) in that original slot.

What you’re basically getting out of the new system is the potential for wild combinations that would’ve previously been impossible to create.

If you’re expecting more major changes to systems like Tempering and Masterworking, you’ll have to wait until Season 11, the PTR of which is expected to take place before the end of the year.

Any other itemisation issues you may have with Diablo 4 will remain unresolved for now, and we have no idea when Blizzard plans to make core changes there. The same goes for the much maligned Reliquary battle pass system, which will remain unchanged in Season 10, too.

If you curious about the specifics, Blizzard published the full set of patch notes for 2.4.0 on the official blog, which you can read at the link.

Delivery Must Complete is Devil May Cry for Ace Combat pilots

by admin September 17, 2025

It’s been long enough since I last played an Ace Combat game that I can remember only two things about Ace Combat. 1) This Ace Combat 7 cutscene featuring what appears to be a wavy JPEG of a dog, which the Twitterati all thought was an exasperated animator’s joke, but which I understand is actually a homage to a real staff member’s dog who died before the game’s release. And 2) you can ‘powerslide’ by wilfully initiating a stall, which I think might actually be a move from Tom Clancy’s H.A.W.X.

Delivery Must Complete sort of builds a whole subgenre around the thrill of powersliding planes. How does it do this? The clue is that “DMC” is also an abbreviation of “Devil May Cry”. Here’s a trailer. I promise you there will be no further confusing/upsetting references to dogs.

Watch on YouTube

The Steam page calls it “a high speed Acelike Roguelike with SSSTYLE”, featuring cell-shaded, upgradeable jet fighters, four procedural locations, and an enemy roster that includes blimps, dragons and mechs. The story blurb suggests that your overall goal is to make a delivery. What’s the return postage cost for an exploded Sidewinder these days?

In Delivery Must Complete, you will: parry missiles, fire bouncy projectiles out of railguns, deal with varying cloud cover, boggle at fantastical terrain flourishes such as floating islands, build a style meter, and call in orbital strikes. You will not: have limited ammo, though you do have to worry about overheating.

It’s the work of Melbourne, Australia-based developer and gamejam enthusiast Yoyoyollie. There’s no release date yet. Thanks to ae2501maeth for noticing. I’ve been in the mood for a firmly non-simulatory flight sim for a while and this looks like just the thing, though I do have to flag up its mystifying shortage of brewing mechanics.

Overwatch 2 Fans Mourn The Persona 5 Skins They Didn’t Get

by admin September 17, 2025

Blizzard finally unveiled the five Persona 5 collaboration skins it’s bringing to Overwatch 2 yesterday, and as Overwatch fans tend to do, they had a pretty wide spread of reactions. When you have 44 heroes, it’s impossible to spread love across them equally, and it can get pretty irritating if your favorite never seems to get any love in the form of skins and other cosmetics. It’s especially grating when Overwatch 2 seems to favor a specific handful of characters with each event or collaboration. While support hero Kiriko, the face of this issue, wasn’t included in the Persona 5 skins, the collaboration still hasn’t gone over well with some fans who feel that heroes like Genji and Mercy are getting preferential treatment, or are disappointed that some seemingly obvious crossovers didn’t manifest.

drew junkrat skull and dva oracle earlier cause I’m hyped for the collab hehe ⚡#OverwatchFanart #Persona5 #Overwatch2 pic.twitter.com/6XOAOfgPgl

Surprisingly, the most contentious skin in the Persona 5 event seems to be Genji as Ryuji. Genji makes a lot of sense for the collaboration, given that he’s one of Overwatch 2’s Japanese heroes, and his katana would make him a pretty natural fit for someone like Yusuke, who also uses a sword in the RPGs. Ryuji, however, is a bit of an odd pick. The track star is the tank of Persona 5’s team, and uses blunt melee weapons in fights, such as bats and pipes. When Genji wears the skin based on the Phantom Thief, his katana is replaced by Ryuji’s base lead pipe, which, yeah, I mean, that’s a melee weapon, I guess, but you don’t slash people with a pipe the same way Genji does when he uses his katana in his ultimate attack.

The choice is even more questionable considering that some fans feel Junkrat, the grenade-launching DPS hero and often forgotten member of the original roster, would have made a better fit, and had been speculating and hoping that he would get the Ryuji treatment. He has Ryuji’s blonde hair, the two have both suffered leg injuries that leave them with a distinct limp, and Ryuji is often a goofy comic relief character whose mannerisms would have worked well in a Junkrat highlight intro.

Seeing this. How did Junkrat not get that skin… https://t.co/iCDO1bOQ8f

junkrats too ugly for collabs apparently even though this would be a literal 1-1 perfect fit for him. Lol. Lmfao. https://t.co/ARJAi03ghh

GENJI YOU GREEDY FUCK (love u overwatch cavalry not directed at you) YOU TAKE ALL THE GOOD SKINS AWAY FROM DESERVING PEOPLE IM SO MAD JUNKRAT RYUJI WAS RIGHT THERE BUT NO GIVE IT TO THE CYBORG NINJA DUDE https://t.co/Fv2B9g3FGf

While Junkrat isn’t included in the collaboration, another choice that has some Overwatch 2 fans up in arms is one for a hero who was featured, but was given what some deem an odd fit. D.Va, the mech-piloting tank, got a skin based on the student council president Makoto. It has some cool details, like her mech being based on Johanna, Makoto’s motorcycle-shaped Persona, but Persona 5 also has a character who would have fit D.Va’s gamer theme: Futaba. The support character in Persona 5 is a bit of a recluse. She’s extremely online and has to be dragged out of her bedroom to be social half the time, but she is always dropping gamer jokes and memes into casual conversation. D.Va pilots a mech because she was a pro gamer who uses her transferable skills to defend South Korea, so the comparisons are pretty apparent, especially because Futaba also pilots her own Persona like a mech. Still, some fans argue that adapting Johanna’s design for D.Va’s mech was an interesting creative choice.

yeah makoto! you remember the character in persona 5 who spoke in gamer lingo and spent most of her time in mementos in a mech like persona and had heavy ties to technology in most of the phantom thieves? right? https://t.co/tPb2pIZfgF

blizzard if they used more than 5 percent of their brain and actually played persona 5 https://t.co/En7AyTA9bL pic.twitter.com/2OJdKvSzKy

— Jonathan (@JonathanFess) September 16, 2025

this is a good choice when you look at the mecha

yall just dont have imagination https://t.co/HUExUNV2yz

The blizzard dev scrolling past your post https://t.co/NwVHVKmuAK pic.twitter.com/kzjiCO716i

— Frankiep423 (@frankiep423) September 16, 2025

If you go looking, you’ll find a lot of ideas fans had for the collaboration before Blizzard revealed the skins. Ashe could have leaned into the rose theme of the Ann skin, or Juno could have dressed up as Haru as a reference to their shared voice actor. Ultimately, when Blizzard teases something weeks before revealing it, fans just have more time to imagine the perfect collaboration in their heads and be disappointed in whatever follows, and that disappointment is only exacerbated when there are already perceptions of favoritism. R.I.P. Ryuji Junkrat, though. A real missed opportunity, that one.
