Skibidi Toilet has made its way to Borderlands 4 just to spite its narrative director

by admin September 24, 2025

Borderlands 4 players on the PC are now able to download a little mod that’ll add a particularly famous meme to the game, in spite of the narrative director’s public woes.

That’s right, the Skibidi Toilet mod can be downloaded on Nexusmods right now. This mod will add the infamous Skibidi Toilet face to in-game toilets, bringing everyone’s fears to life. The mod was created by EpicNNG, developer and Borderlands content creator.

The reason this jokey mod is of note is thanks to Borderlands 4 narrative director Sam Winkler’s comments on the game’s tone prior to launch. On social media, Winkler said that the “toilet humour” present in Borderlands 3 would be toned down, and stated: “if the word skibidi ships in the game under my watch I’m gonna cry real tears”.

Check out the launch trailer for Borderlands 4 here.Watch on YouTube

So while Sam Winkler has been able to sleep peacefully knowing Borderlands 4 hasn’t shipped with any especially cringeworthy gags, it seems certain corners of the Borderlands community have long memories. People say having open communication to developers is great for community building and strong ties to the folks making the experiences gamers love. The real reason is obviously this: to create mods to torment them.

It actually gets worse for Winkler, who also stated: “Paul Tassi joked that we were gonna have a gun called Hawk 2A and a fellow dev asked me if it was real and I wanted to put my hand down the sink grinder”. EpicNNG posted on X that “Hawk 2A is next”, so here’s hoping any Borderlands 4 DLC is written up and ready to go before Winkler does something drastic.

If this has somehow convinced you to try out Borderlands 4, why not check out our Borderlands 4 review! In it reviewer Rick Lane concludes: “Borderlands 4 brings a more sensible script and a true open world to its pseudo-cel-shaded gun-show. But these moderate improvements are undermined by frustrating exploration and combat that takes too long to properly shine.”

Leaked PUBG Mobile Ad Shows Sonic Fighting A Skibidi Toilet

by admin September 24, 2025

A CG-rendered trailer for PUBG Mobile‘s next big update appears to confirm previous rumors that Sonic the Hedgehog is going to be appearing soon in the popular mobile port of the battle royale game. But it also features Sega’s mascot fighting… Skibidi Toilets?

On September 24, Sonic Hotspot on Twitter posted what appears to be a real trailer for a yet-to-be-announced or confirmed Sonic crossover event in the long-running PUBG Mobile. This was spotted and sshared by SonicStadium.org on Bluesky. The pre-rendered event trailer shows Sonic the Hedgehog fighting a massive Skibidi Toilet character. Here’s the leaked trailer, and sorry in advance. I was going to link a YouTube re-upload of it, but that has since been removed. Hmm..

— Sonic Hotspot (@Sonic_Hotspot) September 24, 2025

Skibidi Toilets, which were created as part of a now massively popular YouTube animated series of shorts, were already announced to be coming to PUBG Mobile later this month, so it’s no surprise they are popping up in a leaked trailer. And Sonic has been rumored to be coming to PUBG Mobile for a few months now. Sega’s beloved mascot was even teased last month in an official PUBG Mobile post promising six new collaborations. So that’s also not a big surprise for fans, but a nice confirmation that he’ll be here soon. However, I don’t think anybody was expecting Sonic’s reveal to include Skibidi Toilets.

There is something deeply depressing about watching Sonic fight a Skibidi Toilet. It feels like my fears that all of pop culture will one day merge together into a single giant, boring blob of content are coming true, and faster than expected. Everything is becoming Fortnite, and because all of this crossover slop is making companies millions of dollars, it’s unlikely to stop anytime soon.

And so, that’s how we end up in a timeline where some silly videos made using the Source Engine have become a massively popular IP that has attracted the attention (and money) of Michael Bay. Sonic, you deserve better. We all do. Yet, here we are.

Jim Carrey's The Mask - Save $25 On New 4K Blu-Ray Edition

Jim Carrey’s The Mask – Save $25 On New 4K Blu-Ray Edition

by admin September 24, 2025

Arrow Video has become the Blu-ray distributor for ’90s hits lately, and its next release is smokin’. That’s right, The Mask is getting a new 4K Blu-ray restoration and it’s now available to preorder for $35 (was $60) ahead of its November 11 release. If you preordered for the full $60 MSRP, Amazon will automatically adjust your order total to reflect the 42% discount.

$35 (was $60) | Releases November 11

Released in 1994, The Mask was one of three blockbusters starring Jim Carrey that year, cementing his status as the next breakout star in Hollywood. It’s hard to imagine anyone but Carrey pulling off the role as mild-mannered Stanley Ipkiss and his zany counterpart as successfully as he did, as the comedic actor’s talent for delivering laughs and his malleable face were key factors in the film’s success. Directed by Chuck Russell, The Mask was a big gamble for distributor New Line Cinema, but it paid off handsomely with an impressive box office haul of $351 million at the time.

The popularity of the film led to an animated series adaptation, and a few years later, a sequel was made that we’d really really like to forget about.

This new version of The Mask is a 4K restoration of the film from the original camera negative by Arrow Video that was approved by Russell himself. The 4K edition supports High Dynamic Range–Dolby Vision and HDR10–as well as lossless stereo, DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 surround sound, and a new Dolby Atmos mix.

Like other Arrow Video releases, the Limited Edition comes with a reversible sleeve and cover art: One side has the original theatrical poster featuring Carrey’s toothy grin, while the other is a simple but striking shot of the Mask as he prepares to P-A-R-T-Y. You’ll also find an illustrated booklet with commentary from author Alexandra Heller-Nicholas and original production notes, a double-sided fold-out poster featuring two original artwork options, and six postcard-sized reproduction art cards.

Like the film? Then check out the original The Mask comics

The Mask Omnibus Editions

The Mask was an adaptation of the comic book miniseries of the same name published by Dark Horse Comics. While the film was lighthearted and played like a live-action Looney Tunes cartoon whenever Jim Carrey donned the ancient relic, the comics it was adapted from were much darker in comparison and featured more over-the-top graphic violence. While Jim Carrey’s version of Stanley Ipkiss is a lovable loser with a heart of gold, the comic book version isn’t nearly as likable, and once he gets his hands on the mask, he quickly uses its power to brutally exact revenge on everyone who harmed him.

Some of these scenes made it into the movie, albeit toned down. For example, the mechanics who extort Ipkiss in the film are humiliated by his alter-ego, but in the comics, they meet a gruesome end at his hands. Other characters are gunned down in cold blood and the book doesn’t have a happy ending for Ipkiss. If you’d like to see just how absurdly violent the original comic is, you can pick it up right now as part of The Mask Omnibus Edition for just $23.62 (was $30). After the film became a blockbuster hit, more comic books were produced under several creative teams, but nothing beats the original mini-series by John Arcudi and Doug Mahnke, as it’s a grim tale about revenge and how absolute power corrupts absolutely.

New & Upcoming Arrow Video Limited Edition 4K Blu-rays

The Mask is just the proverbial tip of the 4K Blu-ray spear for Arrow Video, as the company has several other cult-classics on the way. Sci-fi fans can grab the newly released 4K Blu-ray restoration of Lost in Space, the 1997 live-action adaptation of Spawn releases soon and there’s plenty of horror on the way as well. Creepshow 2, the 2003 remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, John Carpenter’s In the Mouth of Madness, and Ringu are all coming out soon, giving fans of the genre a varied selection of movies to collect ahead of Halloween.

All of the movies listed below are Limited Edition 4K Blu-rays and have been organized the list by release date.

Love and Deepspace gets hotter than ever before with Zayne’s third Myth, which sees him transformed into a semi-nude desert god

by admin September 24, 2025

The next Love and Deepspace Memory Pair event has been officially unveiled, and it’s for Zayne. The new event, which kicks off tomorrow, September 25, is dubbed Edge of Continuum.

The banner event introduces a new storyline for Zayne, alongside a new 5-Star Memory Pair. It wouldn’t be a new banner, of course, without some other bits of seasonal activities and new rewards.

Edge of Continuum has some unexpected inspirations, but they’re all taken from popular myths. It features elements from Egyptian, Babylonian, and broader Arabian mythologies. The story goes into the bonds lovers form across realities and how fragile they can be.

The story focus is on another alternate-timeline vision of Zayne’s relationship with the MC, and like most of their encounters, there’s a distinct sense of doom getting in the way of their happily-ever-after. The main reason you’ll probably log in though, of course, is for the Memory Pair. In this, we’re getting Zayne: Diviner’s Hymn and Zayne: Diviner’s Stillness – the limited-time 5-Star pair. You can only get it through the event Wish Pool.

The visuals are drenched in yellow, with golden hour hues. It’s very on theme, given its inspirations. If you do get the Memory Pair, you’ll unlock a new design for Zayne. This one is very much the opposite of his original, cold/white look. Keeping up with the same aesthetic is his new combat scepter, which has crowd-control mechanics in combat with pyramid-themed effects.

Watch on YouTube

To celebrate this golden transformation, you’ll also find a new outfit set for the MC (that you’ll need to buy), and a new stage of Hunter Contest (v11.1). Since this one is about Zayne, you can expect Deepspace Trial Stages where you can tackle some combat challenges with him.

If you log in during the event, you’ll earn some unique rewards. There’s also a Jimmy Choo collaboration event (yes, the shoe designers) with its own cross-over reward. Oh, and there’s a new plushie you can get from the claw machine, too: say hi to Mushie, everyone!

In case you missed it, Papergames and Infold recently announced that the game has been downloaded over 70 million times since its launch. The news was revealed at gamescom last month, where Love and Deepspace won Best Mobile Game.

If you’re new to Love and Deepspace, it helps to understand what banner events are and how they work. If you’re curious about Zayne specifically, we have a full breakdown of his lore and backstory. And, as always, you should make a habit of checking out our updated Love and Deepspace codes before jumping back in.

Steam's latest beta lets you easily check if you have Secure Boot enabled before firing up Battlefield 6 or Call of Duty

Steam’s latest beta lets you easily check if you have Secure Boot enabled before firing up Battlefield 6 or Call of Duty

by admin September 24, 2025

Steam’s latest client beta has given you another way to quickly check whether you’ve got secure boot enabled before you hop into some FPSsing about. Enabling the setting’s become mandatory for the likes of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Battlefield 6, as the possibly futile war on cheating continues to rage like, er, well, you know.

It’s a controversial way of going about trying to limit the amout of fraudulent 360 no-scopes, as it involves publishers mandating an aspect of how players’ hardware’s used, if a pretty easy one to check with a trip to your BIOS if you know what you’re doing. Not everyone’s used to delving into those settings though, which is why it’s nice Valve have made this useful addition to their game playing place.

As outlined in this brief post spotted by Pretty Cold Grandma, a Steam client beta update deployed early this morning has brought in this tweak.

To use it to check if you’ve got secure boot enabled, you’ll first need to opt into the latest client beta if you haven’t already. On desktop, that’s done by heading to the Steam logo in the top left when you open up Steam, then selecting ‘Settings’ from the drop-down menu. From there, you go to ‘Interface’, ‘Steam Client Beta Participation’, and select ‘Steam Beta Update’ from the drop-down menu to the right of the latter. A restart of Steam’ll be required, then once it loads back up, you can head to ‘Help’ in the top left, select ‘System Information’ from the drop-down.

You’ll get a list of info about your PC, and in the bit about your operating system, you’ll find a line which specifies whether or not secure boot is enabled. Just below that’s a line listing your Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version, this being a processor that allows your PC to carry out cryptographic operations with some added security measures. It’s generally a requirement to get secure boot up and running.

Image credit: Valve / Rock Paper Shotgun

We’ll see if these measures ever manage to do more than continue to move the goalposts those keen to cheat will likely just find another way to auto-aim their bullets through. At least if the amount of time/energy it takes to check if secure boot’s enabled can be minimised, with the added bonus of making it easier for the less tech-savvy, that’s something positive.

All weapons in Hades 2 and how to get them

All weapons in Hades 2 and how to get them

by admin September 24, 2025

Few things in Hades or Hades 2 are more satisfying than unlocking a brand-new weapon to play around with. And there’s nothing like having plenty of choices in the matter. Here’s every weapon available in Hades 2 and how to unlock them.

There are six weapons in Hades 2. The first one is free, but the others require you to gather materials, summon them to Crossroads, and have them join your arsenal. A few are rather easy to conjure early on, but others will take a bit more effort on your part. Yeah, it’s pretty much just how it was done in the original Hades.

Hades 2: All weapons and how to get them

You begin with your first weapon already unlocked in Hades 2. The Witch’s Staff is available from the start of the game, which thrusts you into combat fresh as a morning fart and just as easily dissipated. To view the unlockable weapons in the Arms of Night, you need to travel down to the second level of the Crossroads and activate the large sigil on the ground. This is the ‘Silver Pool’, in which you’ll find the list of the available Nocturnal Arms and info on how to unlock them.

Here are all the weapons in Hades 2 Early Access and how to get them unlocked:

You can view the first four weapons in the list right from the start. But from what I can tell, the Argent Skull won’t become unlockable until you progress far enough into the game. You may need to pass through the wards opposite your usual exit for the first time, as that’s where you’ll find the ingredients needed to get it summoned.

Either way, keep progressing and soon it should appear in the list of Nocturnal Arms.

How to get weapon unlock materials in Hades 2

To begin unlocking weapons in Hades 2, you first need to get the Crescent Pick. It’s easy enough to do; in the same place you unlock weapons, change to the ‘Gathering Tools’ tab. The Crescent Pick can be unlocked from that menu for a mere 1 Ashes. Unlock the pick and get it equipped, then leave the Crossroads and make your way down. You should find a stone covered in glittering, silver crescent moons almost right away:

Screenshot by Destructoid

Silver ore gives you three Silver each, which is more than enough to unlock arguably the best weapon in the game: the Sister Blades. Fifteen Silver will unlock the Moonstone Axe, which hits like a truck.

How to get other materials

  • Cinder is awarded by defeating Headmistress Hecate, the Guardian of Erebus. You need 3 Cinder and 3 Silver to unlock the Umbral Flames weapon.
  • Glassrock (called G. Rock in-game) can be found in the third area, the Fields of Mourning. Look for large, black stone.
  • Once you’re able to get through the wards, you can find the second material needed to unlock the Argent Skull. Bring the Crescent Pick and search for Bronze in the shape of a pile of what looks like brown Greek armor.
  • Progress on the surface for long enough to reach Mount Olympus, where you can gather Adamant Ore with the Crescent Pick.

With all those materials gathered (and a bit of time), you should be able to unlock every weapon in of Hades 2.

Borderlands 4 On Switch 2 Delayed Amid Ongoing Performance Issues

Borderlands 4 On Switch 2 Delayed Amid Ongoing Performance Issues

by admin September 24, 2025

Despite launching on September 12 to a generally positive critical reception, Borderlands 4 has been plagued with performance issues on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. While the studio continues to iron out the kinks, it has decided to delay the Switch 2 launch of Borderlands 4 to an unspecified date.

Since its launch on other platforms, players have reported technical issues with Borderlands 4, including unstable framerates, stuttering, and crashes, even on higher-end PCs. As a result of the latter, the game’s Steam reviews currently stand at “Mixed.”

Borderlands 4 was scheduled to launch on Switch 2 on October 3, but Gearbox has pushed the date to ensure this version doesn’t suffer a similar fate. As a result, Gearbox is canceling all digital pre-orders on the Nintendo eShop (though players can do this themselves or wait for it to occur automatically on Friday, September 26). The studio also states it plans to time the eventual release of this version to coincide with the arrival of cross-saves, a feature currently in development.

Here is Gearbox’s full message, as shared on X:

Greetings, Vault Hunters.
We need to share that the release of Borderlands 4 on Nintendo Switch 2 is being delayed. We do not take this decision lightly, but are committed to ensuring we deliver the best possible experience to our fans, and the game needs additional development and polish time to do that. Our hope is to also better align this release with the addition of cross-saves, which we are working on and recognize is very important. We will update you all on the new release timing once we’ve fully adjusted our plans.
In accordance with Nintendo’s policy, all digital pre-orders to date will be cancelled. Customers can initiate that process themselves now, or it will happen automatically starting on Friday, September 26. For questions about the Nintendo eShop, contact [Nintendo]. For physical pre-orders, please reach out to the corresponding retailer.
We greatly appreciate the feedback, support and patience of our fans and community. It’s truly what keeps us going.

For more on Borderlands 4, you can watch our recent interview with the developers on this episode of The Game Informer Show podcast. You can read Game Informer’s Borderlands 4 review by following the link.

Mario Kart World’s New Patch Improves Free Roam, Online Races

by admin September 24, 2025

Mario Kart World is being patched to 1.3.0, and with the rounder number comes a more significant update. It introduces a new way to play online with friends, a bunch of improvements in Free Roam, and yet again halfway suggests it will boost the frequency with which you’ll encounter three-lap races, but still in frustratingly ambiguous language.

Nintendo’s update notes for game patches are notoriously sparse. The most recent system update for the Switch 2 came with the legend, “General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience,” offering not a single extra detail. Mario Kart World‘s 1.1.2 patch notes were similarly a single sentence long. So 1.3.0’s detailed list is of some significance.

So the headline here is you can now join your friends online when playing Knockout Tour, alongside regular Race and Battle modes. There’s another nice touch that if when trying to join friends for Knockout Tour, Race or Battle online and the game is full, you and one other person can play Free Roam together while you wait. That’s a lot better than staring at a queue.

Talking of Free Roam, the new patch improves the map show it will finally show you the locations of P Switches you’ve already found, and the Peach Medallions you’ve previously claimed. Given how ubiquitous these are, and how (annoyingly) similar they can be, this’ll make it far easier to know if you’re just repeating yourself. Also, all those previously discovered P Switches will act as quick travel points, if a little unspecific—the notes say it’ll “move to a location near the P Switch.”

When it comes to the actual racing itself, one key improvement is a slight speeding up of the replenishment rate of item boxes, meaning a new one will spawn in more quickly after the previous is nabbed by an opponent, along with an increase in your time spent invincible after being spun out or crashing.

But most importantly, when playing “wireless” races there’s another increase to the frequency with which three-lap courses will appear. That was a common lament when the game was first released, first supposedly addressed in a patch at the end of July, although this didn’t do much to ease people’s frustration, and many suspected didn’t actually affect online racing at all. Hopefully this latest tweak will make a more noticeable improvement, although it’s worth noting that yet again the patch notes speak only of “wireless” and not “online,” and no one knows if this is a deliberate distinction. God knows why Nintendo won’t just let it be a fixed toggle we can flip on—clearly World‘s new contiguous races have so enamored Nintendo that it isn’t able to let go of them properly, much to the ongoing frustration of players.

The notes also come with changes to UFOs in Free Roam, and a bunch of fixes for some niche issues. We’re obviously still a fair way off the time when updates will include new and classic courses getting added, which is when things get much more interesting. You can read all the patch notes below:

General

  • You can now join friends playing “Knockout Tour” by selecting “Friends” from “Online Play” “1p.”
  • Up to 2 players can now play “Free Roam” while waiting if the game was full when trying to join friends playing “Race,” “Knockout Tour” or “Battle” in “Online Play.”
  • The “Free Roam” map now displays the locations of P Switches you’ve run over and Peach Medallions you’ve obtained.
    • You can now select a P Switch from the map and move to a location near the P Switch.
  • In “Free Roam”, you can now transform into the character pulled into the UFO.
    • If “Dash Food” in “Settings/Controller” is set to “Doesn’t transform” then you will not transform.
  • It is now easier to encounter UFOs in “Free Roam.”
  • The conditions for the appearance of some Peach Medallions in “Free Roam” have been adjusted.
  • When spectating in “Knockout Tour” or “Balloon Battle” in “Online Play” or “Wireless Play”, you can now choose who to watch, even if you are holding the Joy-Con 2 or Joy-Con horizontally.
  • Decreased the time between when an item box is taken by someone and the next time it is revived.
  • Increased the invincible time after spinning or crashing during a race.
  • Reduced the force of jumps when landing on a rival from above.
  • Decreased the amount of time between when you finish and when spectating begins in “Knockout Tour” or “Balloon Battle” in “Online Play” or “Wireless Play.”
  • Decreased the amount of time between passing through the checkpoint and when the ranking is displayed in “Knockout Tour” in “Wireless Play” and “LAN Play.”
  • Further increased the frequency of lap-type courses appearing in the selection when choosing the next course in “VS Race” and wireless races.

Fixed Issues

  • Fixed an issue in “Online Play” and “Wireless Play” where the ranking would sometimes become incorrect if a player went off course at the same time as reaching the finish line.
  • Fixed an issue in “Grand Prix”, “Knockout Tour”, and “VS Race”, where the CPU’s ranking would sometimes drop after reaching the finish line.
  • Fixed an issue in “Knockout Tour” in “Online Play” where other players’ ratings would sometimes appear as “0” on the results screen.
  • Fixed an issue where a Spiny Shell would sometimes pass the first place player in “Wireless Play” or “Online Play.”
  • Fixed an issue where players would sometimes be sent flying backwards a great distance when hit by a Spiny Shell.
  • Fixed an issue where the second item in an item slot would sometimes not disappear when hit by Lightning.
  • Fixed an issue where hitting the base of a pillar in mid-air would sometimes cause a large jump.
  • Fixed an issue that sometimes caused movement to become unstable when doing a wall ride on water.
  • Fixed an issue where players would sometimes be swept away strongly after landing when doing a mini jump while going up a river.
  • Fixed an issue where players would sometimes pass through the ground when hit by a car driving on the road.
  • Fixed an issue in “Free Roam” where players would sometimes be unable to enter pipes correctly after exiting a trailer.
  • Fixed an issue where the results screen would sometimes become distorted after spectating “Balloon Battle” in “Online Play.”
  • Fixed an issue where the game would sometimes not proceed to the course selection screen after exiting a pipe during “Free Roam” in “Online Play.”
  • Fixed an issue where Bullet Bill would sometimes slip through walls when used in “Sky-High Sundae.”
  • Fixed an issue where players would sometimes get stuck on a wall at the start of the race heading from “Airship Fortress” to “Shy Guy Bazaar.”
  • Fixed an issue where players would sometimes get stuck in walls when using a Bullet Bill in “Bowser’s Castle.”
  • Fixed an issue in “Cheep Cheep Falls” where item boxes were sometimes difficult to pick up when Smart Steering was turned on.
  • Fixed an issue in “Knockout Tour” “Spiny Rally” where sometimes there was an item box buried in the ground.
  • Several other issues have been addressed to improve the gameplay experience.

PS5 State Of Play September 2025: Start Time, How To Watch, And What To Expect From Today’s Event

by admin September 24, 2025

It’s a big week for gaming with events like the Tokyo Game Show, but right now, it’s time for Sony to show what it has been cooking up with a new State of Play broadcast today, September 24. We’ve rounded up all the details for the livestream, popped in a few links for where to watch, when it starts, and what you can expect from it. On September 25, you can also tune in for an Xbox livestream, which will be held at a very early time.

How to watch the State of Play

State of Play will be streamed live on Sony’s YouTube and Twitch channels and will be broadcast in English.

State of Play start time

The State of Play broadcast begins today, September 24, at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET and will run for approximately 35 minutes.

  • 2 PM PT
  • 5 PM ET
  • 11 PM CEST
  • 6 AM JST (September 25)

What to expect

Sony says that the event will feature reveals and news from developers around the world on third-party games and indie titles. On the first-party side, Sony has confirmed that there’ll be an extended look at Housemarque’s next game, Saros, with five minutes of PS5-captured gameplay. You can also look forward to updates from some of the teams at PlayStation Studios, but beyond that, Sony is keeping quiet on the specific details here.

Ghost of Yotei launches on October 2, so we’re expecting to see a quick trailer for the game, and this would be a great time to reveal a few new characters for the upcoming superhero brawler from Arc System Works, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. Fans are also eager to see a fresh look at Insomniac’s Wolverine game, which was first announced way back in 2021. It has also been a year since Uncharted developer Naughty Dog revealed Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, so an update on that game wouldn’t be unwelcome.

If we’re digging into rumored reveals, then there might be some pleasant surprises today. Speculation about a new God of War game that will be smaller in scope and will see players return to ancient Greece has been doing the rounds for a while now, and everything from a Metal Gear Solid 4 port to a remake of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag have also been heavily rumored for a while now. The only way to find out will be to tune in today to see what the future of PlayStation looks like.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties drops in early 2026, as RGG pair remake with a new spin-off starring baddie Mine

by admin September 24, 2025

Like A Dragon/Yakuza devs RGG Studio have revealed Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, a remake of Yakuza 3 paired with a fresh spin-off adventure starring the beat-em-up’s baddie Yoshitaka Mine. They’ll be released as one package on February 12th, 2026, as announced at the latest RGG Summit showcase.

The showcase also saw the studio announce that Yakuza 0: Director’s Cut, originally released as a Switch 2 launch title, will arrive on PC December 8th. That revamp of the most 80s entry in the series offers some extra cutscenes and a Red Light Raid multiplayer mode all about battling hordes of goons.

While a remastered version of Yakuza 3 did hit Steam back in 2021, Kiwami 3 is a more in-depth face-lift, in line with the Kiwami treatments the first two games in the series have gotten. That means a full remake, with RGG promising “more intense battles, added cutscenes that bring depth to the story, and minigames chock-full of replay value” in addition to retooled visuals.

Here’s a quick Steam page synopsis of Yakuza 3’s plot, in case you need a refresher: “Kazuma Kiryu has earned his retirement on the sandy beaches of Okinawa. But when a deadly power struggle arrives on his doorstep, he’ll have to walk the streets of Kamurocho to escape his past for good.”

The most newsworthy addition is definitely Dark Ties, a fresh spin-off adventure which puts you in the shoes of businessy Yakuza 3 antagonist Yoshitaka Mine. If you hop into Dark Ties from the remake’s main menu, you’ll get to see how he established himself in the underworld after crashing out of the corporate one, forming deep bonds with Tojo Clan chairman Daigo Dojima and more typical Yakuza villain Tsuyoshi Kanda in the process.

It’s been a few years since I played Yakuza 3, but I recall liking Mine as a change of pace from the brawnier brawlers Kiryu tends to have to wrest the clan away from, with his cold and calculating persona certainly being a lot different to direct predecessor and Yakuza 2 baddie Ryuji Goda. It’s certainly nice to see RGG doing more with one of the villains from the Yakuzas 3 to 5 range, given those poor lads are generally pretty forgettable compared to series cornerstones like Goda and Akira Nishkiyama.

There’s a deluxe edition of Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties which comes with some extra goodies, while costing £69.99 in comparison to the base game’s £54.99/$59.99/€59.99. I’ve mainly mentioned it because one of the additions is called the ‘Legendary Lads Set’, which is a very good name. It also features some flip phone customisation, though there regrettably don’t look to be any embarrassing 2000s ringtones.

You can wishlist this refreshed street scum sweeper on Steam right now.
