Original Space Marine Getting 4K Remaster, But Will Skip PS5

by admin May 23, 2025

Sega and Games Workshop announced that the original Space Marine game, first released on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC over a decade ago, is getting a fancy remaster with improved visuals and controls. And you won’t have to wait long as it launches on June 10 on Xbox Series X/S, and PC. You might notice a platform is missing.

GTA 6 Beers Look Tasty As Hell

The original Warhammer 40k: Space Marine was released back in 2011. It was very good, and over a decade later in 2024, it finally got a big sequel that was even better. That sequel was such a big success that the people behind it have already announced they are making Space Marine 3. That’s pretty cool. But perhaps you want to return to the OG game or play it for the first time before the third game arrives in the future. Until now, the best way to do that was to play the solid but dated PC port of Space Marine. However, there’s soon to be a (hopefully) better option to replay this cult classic third-person sci-fi shooter. Unless you only own a PS5, that is.

On May 22, as part of the Warhammer Skulls event, Sega announced that it was remastering the OG Space Marine. According to the publisher, the new remaster is being handled by SneakyBox and will feature a 4K resolution option, modernized controls, a complete UI overhaul, improved character models, and remastered audio. I can’t wait to hear Orks yell out “Space Marine!” in a cockney accent in the highest fidelity possible.

“[This] isn’t just a technical upgrade — it’s a thoughtful restoration,” producer Vaidas Mikelskas from SneakyBox told IGN. “We aimed to preserve the spirit of the original while modernizing the experience for today’s players.”

Strangely, this surprise remaster seems to be skipping PlayStation 5 if the game’s first trailer is any indication. Instead, it will arrive on day one on Game Pass. Not sure what’s going on here. I assume eventually the remaster will get a PS5 port, but for now it seems to be an Xbox console exclusive. In a world where Forza and Gears of War are on PlayStation, this seems really silly.

Warhammer 40k: Space Marine Master Crafted Edition launches June 10 on Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Game Pass.

Romancing SaGa 2 Remake Drops To $30 Alongside Other Square Enix Game Deals

by admin May 23, 2025

Fans of Japanese role-playing games who haven’t picked up the Romancing SaGa 2 remake should check out the current deal at Amazon and Best Buy before it’s gone. Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is up for grabs for $30 (was $50) for Nintendo Switch and PS5. Amazon is sold out of the PS5 version, but Best Buy has copies for both platforms in stock.

The impressive remake of the Super Famicom JRPG released last October. In a year filled with great JRPGs, Romancing SaGa 2 flew a bit under the radar, but Square Enix’s lovingly crafted turn-based RPG is a unique experience is well-worth your time.

Romancing SaGa 2 Remake Deals — $30 ($50)

$30 (was $50)

Romancing SaGa 2 is a ground-up remake of the 1993 Super Famicom classic. An HD port of the original was also released in 2017, but this new remake updates the experience to full 3D graphics and overhauls the turn-based battle system to match the new “timeline” system featured in recent titles like SaGa Emerald Beyond. There are also a few quality of life updates to make the game more approachable for new players, including multiple difficulty options.

$30 (was $50)

The remake doesn’t look as nice on Nintendo Switch when compared to the PS5 edition, but you do get the added convenience of portability. It’s not the only way to play it on a portable device, though. Romancing SaGa 2 is also Steam Deck-verified. You can save 15% on a Steam key with promo code MAY15 at Green Man Gaming.

Romancing SaGa 2 sees players take the role of various members of a royal family as they fight to maintain their empire, and stave off world-ending threats. There’s also an entire castle building mechanics where you construct and manage fortresses around your kingdom. Like other games in the series, where you go, who you talk to, and which side quests you complete can have drastic changes on how the story unfolds. It’s a surprisingly open-ended experience, even by modern standards, and this new remake is the perfect opportunity to give it a go, or revisit it and try for an entirely different story path.

$45

SaGa fans can also preorder the upcoming physical edition of Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song Remastered International for PS5 and Nintendo Switch. This superb remaster originally released in 2022 on PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, PC, and mobile.

Like Romancing SaGa 2, the boxed version of Minstrel Song Remastered is only available on PS5 and Nintendo Switch. Square Enix hasn’t revealed an official launch date yet, but it’s expected to release this year.

Preorders for the Nintendo Switch and PS5 physical editions are available for $45 at Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy.

More JRPG Deals at Amazon

If you’re looking for more deals on role-playing games, major retailers are offering nice discounts on a variety of other hits and recent releases. Multiple other notable Square Enix releases are on sale, including Final Fantasy I-VI Collection Anniversary Edition for $25 off, and the reprint of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade for PS5 is available for $40. Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake is discounted to $40 on multiple consoles. You can also save on the recently released Suikoden I & II HD Remaster for the first time on Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X.

The SaGa Franchise

Square Enix has been slowly revitalizing the SaGa series over the past few years with remasters, remakes, and brand-new entries in the series, including SaGa Emerald Beyond, the latest new entry in the series. Steam keys for SaGa Emerald Beyond and a bunch of other games in the series are available at Green Man Gaming. With promo code MAY15, you can save 15% on any of the games listed below.

Save 15% with promo code MAY15

While the series started as a Final Fantasy spin-off called Final Fantasy Legend, the SaGa series quickly evolved into its own unique franchise. Unlike many other JRPGs of the 90s, the SaGa games are notable for offering non-linear storylines and complex character building systems that were more akin to 90s computer RPGs.

Warhammer 40,000 Darktide is getting a playable space cop, and a trusty cyber dog

by admin May 23, 2025

Fatshark has revealed the next class for Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, as part of today’s Warhammer Skulls event. The Adeptus Arbites – essentially Warhammer 40K’s version of space police – is getting some representation, bringing with them a trusty cyber mastiff companion.

You’ll be bale to play it yourself on June 23 across all platforms, available to buy for $11.99 or your regional equivilent. The class is customizable with over 80 talent nodes, which should allow for a bunch of player expression. It also comes with new weapons in the form of a shotgun, assault shielf and shotpistol, and the dominator maul.

You’ll also be able to tweak with the look and sound of the Arbites of course. It has three personalities to choose from, as well as six voice lines to make your own.

In addition, Darktide is getting a bit of a narrative overhaul. Right now, if you play the game, it can be a little tricky to get a steady narrative line given the fact you can kind of jump around the story through different matches. On June 23, alongside the new class, the game is getting a improved narrative experience. This comes in the form of a curated mission path that players can journey through, introudcing key characters and events in order.

The difficulty system is also getting tweaked! Players will now be able to unlock higher difficulties by demonstrating skill, rather than just levelling up. By completing a number of missions cleared at your current level, you cna steadily proceed to more challenging content.

Finally, starting today, a special event is coming to Darktide. Nurlge Totems will start popping up across different missions, and by destroying them players can make the mission a touch more challenging, but earn some extra prizes.

What are your thoughts on this new class and curated narrative experience? Let us know below!

The Six One Indie Showcase had too many cool games, so here’s a few I think look neat

by admin May 23, 2025

The Six One Indie Showcase is a bit of a new kid on the block when it comes to video game presentations, but it’s certainly working hard to justify itself. Early today the latest showcase was held showing off a huge range of indies, 48 in total, some of them being brand new reveals, others smaller showcases.

There’s honestly too many showcases around these days, to see a show with a lot of games that made me go “oh I’m going to put that on my wishlist” is a treat. So, here’s just a few I think you should check out, because I’m just one freelancer on the night shift and I can’t do them all, but I’d like you to take a look anyway.

First up was a proper reveal of Truth Scrapper, the next games from the dev behind In Stars and Time. This one’s a scrapbooking visual novel where your memories reset every day, but there’s a mystery that you need to solve. Did I mention there’s toxic lesbians? Instant winner.

Watch on YouTube

I’ve had my eye on Artis Impact for a little while now, an incredibly stylish pixelart turn-based RPG set in a world overrun by AI. Sounds a bit too relatable right now, but I’m still in.

1000 Deaths is a “gravity-bending 3D platformer where your choices matter”, and also a game that looks like graphics card box art from the ’90s and 2000s. To be clear, this is the highest of compliments I can hand out.

Okay, this one isn’t a game per se, but it does also involve the number 1000. Last year’s seminal 1000xRESIST is getting a ridiculously gorgeous looking vinyl set that comes in two versions – one with one set of sisters, one with another. The recent fanzine for the game (which you can download for free on itch.io) is getting a physical edition too!

Then we’ve got Forbidden Solitaire, a “card-slashing horror game about unearthing the contents of a cryptic 1995 CD-ROM that should have never existed.” This one’s for the card game weirdos (I am card game weirdos).

Jump the Track mixes choice based visual novels with pachinko, following an ambitious slacker called Sam who doesn’t understand why we’re supposed to spend our lives working awful jobs while the rich get to live it up.

I think you just need to watch the trailer for GlitchSPANKR, I think any approach I take to explaining it will get it wrong.

And then there’s Kidbash: Super Legend, a very charming and nostalgic-looking roguelike action-platformer set in a “world of forgotten game characters as a hero with no memory of his past.”

The Six One Indie Showcase really did just have what looked like banger after banger, it’ll be worth your time to go and watch the full thing and get wishlisting anything else that catches your eye.

Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 Adds Ultron, A New Map, And A Sharknado
Game Updates

Marvel Rivals Season 2.5 Adds Ultron, A New Map, And A Sharknado

by admin May 22, 2025

The team behind Marvel Rivals, one of our favorite games of last year, has revealed the changes coming next week for the game’s mid-season update. In addition to Ultron, a new playable character, there’s a new map, a new limited-time mode, and a ton of balance changes.

Despite his character history of destruction and conquest, Ultron is a strategist, Marvel Rivals’ healer class. He’s also the first healer who can fly, placing him among the ranks of characters like Human Torch and Iron Man. Based on what we can see in the trailer, his primary fire is a laser that ends with a burst of damage, and he can both heal allies and grant them shield.

Ultron will be accompanied by a new map, Arakko. “Once Krakoa’s sister island, Arakko has lost all its vitality,” creative director Guanguang says in the video update. It’s been overrun by a somehow-even-more-evil version of Ultron after he combined himself with Cerebro to become X-tron.

A new limited-time mode called Ultron’s Battle Matrix Protocol will be available on June 6. It’s a single-player mode where you assemble a roster of computer-controlled heroes to battle enemies while you observe from the sky as one of Ultron’s drones. By unlocking buffs and abilities, the battles can get wacky, as the video shows off a massive Venom, a rapidly firing Hela, and a Namor with an army of Monstro spawn turrets.

Season 2.5 also comes with a smattering of balance adjustments. Groot, Captain America, Emma Frost, Iron Fist, Human Torch, and Psylocke will all receive buffs, while Doctor Strange, Magneto, Squirrel Girl, and Punisher will all receive buffs. Meanwhile, Jeff will receive a “partial adjustment for a fresh experience,” reworking several of his key abilities. You can read the specific changes for each character here.

Team-up abilities, one of the game’s most notable features, are also receiving some changes. Team-ups between Hawkeye and Black Widow, Rocket and Punisher, Luna Snow and Jeff, and Spider-Man, Venom, and Peni are all being removed, and Iron Man is no longer a part of the team-up with Hulk and Namor. However, six new team-ups will be added to compensate: Luna Snow and Hawkeye, Jeff and Storm (who combine ultimates to make a Jeff-nado), Jeff and Venom, Punisher and Black Widow, Rocket and Peni, and Iron Man and Ultron. You can find the full details of each team-up and a list of team-ups that are changing right here.

Finally, Marvel Rivals will receive some new cosmetic options, including emojis you can use to react mid-game, moods you can add to your character nameplate, and the ability to see your Lord character portraits in the character select screen at the start of the game.

The season 2.5 update goes live on May 30. For more Marvel Rivals, you can read our review, where we called the game “a culmination of the successful shooters that came before it.”

Warhammer 40K unveils Boltgun 2, tactical RPG Dark Heresy, and, yes, a free typing game

by admin May 22, 2025

It’s been a busy day in the grimdark world of Warhammer 40K, thanks to its latest video game focused Warhammer Skulls showcase. Not only have we learned a couple of classics getting a spruce-up, there’s brand-new stuff coming too, including a Boltgun sequel, new tactical RPG Dark Heresy, plus a smattering of fresh DLC.

Warhammer 40K: Boltgun 2, which seems as good a place as any to start, is exactly what it sounds like – a follow-up to developer Auroch Digital’s acclaimed 2023 retro shooter Boltgun. Details are relatively limited at present, but it’ll pick up immediately after the events of the first game, and offer another helping of old-school-inspired FPS action over the course of its branching single-player campaign. There’s talk of new locations – “from the colossal heights of a hive city to the impenetrable mangrove swamps of a jungle” – plus new weapons and never-before-seen foes, including the ferocious Bloodletters and their daemonic Juggernauts.

All that’s coming to Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC sometime in 2026. However! There’s an extra – and more immediate – treat for Boltgun fans in the form of Boltgun: Words of Vengeance. This “first person typer” twist on the retro shooter – in which players must deploy their QWERTY skills for maximum carnage – is entirely free and available to download on Steam today.

Elsewhere in the gloomy world of Warhammer 40K, developer Owlcat has announced Warhammer 40K: Dark Heresy, a “narrative-driven tactical RPG” set against the backdrop of the Noctis Aeterna and the mystery of the Tyrant Star. “Players will lead a warband of diverse companions in a desperate battle against heresy and corruption,” the studio explains, “from loyal Imperial subjects, such as a veteran Guardsman from the death world of Catachan, to nefarious xenos, including a bird-like Kroot mercenary.”

There’s talk of full voice acting, “intricate investigations”, turn-based combat, and “choices that carry grave consequences”, all said to build on the ideas introduced in Owlcat’s Rogue Trader. And if that sounds intriguing, Dark Heresy is coming to Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC (via Steam, GOG, and Epic) at some currently undisclosed future point.

Speaking of Rogue Trader, Owlcat has also announced a 24th June release date for the game’s second expansion, Lex Imperialis. This introduces a faction of “incorruptible enforcers” known as the Adeptus Arbites, plus a new companion – Solomorne Anthar – across its 15-hour storyline. Additionally, the studio has revealed it’s working on a Season Pass 2 for Rogue Trader, bundling together an appearance customisation pack and two more 15-hour expansions – each featuring new quests and a new companion. The first of these expansions takes players to a Necron vault curated by Trazyn the Infinite, where they’ll encounter ancient guardians and uncover relics relating to the Von Valancius legacy. The second new expansion promises a “descent into madness and mystery” as they explore a “surreal” voidship graveyard.

And while we’re on the subject of DLC, there’s one last bit of business to discuss in the form of Space Marine 2’s new Siege mode. This “endless” PvE mode for the acclaimed shooter unfolds on Kadaku, where three players must survive against ever-more-deadly waves of Tyranid and Chaos as they attempt to defend an Imperial fortress. It’ll be playable on Steam via developer Saber Interactive’s Public Test Server starting 4th June, and it gets its full release across all platforms as part of a free update on 26th June.

All of which pretty much covers the big Warhammer 40K news, but it’s probably also worth mentioning there are currently significant discounts across a huge number of Warhammer games on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC as part of today’s Warhammer Day celebrations.

The grimdark Pac-Man reboot has a classic Pac-Man game hidden inside it

by admin May 22, 2025

Bandai Namco’s bold new take on Pac-Man — the 2D action platformer known as Shadow Labyrinth — has a secret: Despite being a grim sci-fi, Metroid-inspired game that looks nothing like a traditional Pac-Man sequel, there’s actual real Pac-Man gameplay in here. A new trailer for Shadow Labyrinth reveals the Maze, a portion of the game that for shorthand purposes looks a hell of a lot like Pac-Man Championship Edition 3.

The core gameplay of Shadow Labyrinth has players controlling a mysterious warrior named Swordsman No. 8, who is accompanied by a Pac-Man shaped guide named Puck, battling to become the apex predator of an alien planet. But at certain points in Shadow Labyrinth, you’ll play honest-to-goodness Pac-Man maze levels that draw inspiration from the Championship Edition line of pellet- and ghost-chomping games. Shadow Labyrinth’s take on Pac-Man gameplay adds to the Championship Edition formula, with jumping, boost pads, giant ghost boss battles, and a variety of maze types.

In other words, if Shadow Labyrinth hasn’t quite done it for you thus far, it might be worth checking in on your feelings after watching the game’s new trailer.

Shadow Labyrinth will be released on July 18, for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.

A massive amount of Warhammer 40K games are currently on sale across PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam as part of the annual Warhammer Skulls event. If you’ve been wanting to kill some Orks, there’s never been a better time.

The Top 10 Most-Played Games On Steam Deck: June 2023 Edition

Happy Warhammer Skulls: Festival Of Video Games! I can’t believe it’s here already. It feels like it arrives sooner and sooner each year. Don’t worry, there are plenty of gifts waiting for you under the bloody iron tree, including a ton of discounts on big games like Space Marine 2, and even some free games and news on upcoming Warhammer games, too.

Here are some of the best deals we’ve spotted across Steam, PlayStation Store, and Xbox Marketplace.

Steam Deals

If you’re wondering what Boltgun: Words of Vengeance is, it’s a short, free riff on Boltgun in which you type words and phrases to slaughter your foes. Apparently it’s little more than a fun little commercial for Boltgun 2 but hey, you can’t beat the price!

Besides these deals across console and PC, Games Workshop shared some news about new and upcoming Warhammer games during Thursday’s event. The company revealed a new remaster of the original 2011 Space Marine that is set to arrive on Xbox, Game Pass, and PC in June. (No PS5 port, weirdly.) It also announced Boltgun II, a sequel to the wonderful boomer shooter FPS Boltgun. The sequel is coming in 2026. We also learned more about Space Marine 2’s upcoming horde mode and got a teaser trailer for the free update, too.

A cult classic gets some love with the Space Marine Master Crafted Edition, launching June 10

by admin May 22, 2025

After Space Marine 2 released to a supurb level of consumer and critical acclaim, it should be no shocker that the Space Marine Master Crafted Edition has just been announced during the Warhammer Skulls event.

This game is coming from SEGA and Sneakybox, the latter responsible for a sweep of modern additions like 4K resolution, updated controls, improved models and enhanced audio. In the press release sent out alongside this announcement, Sneaky Box producer Vaidas Mikelskas states it is more of “a thoughtful restoration” than a technical upgrade.

This modern recreation of the cult classic comes with all the original modes, including the campaign and PvE / PvP multiplayer. What’s particularly interesting with this new and improved version of the game is that the Orks are getting a special touch up. The faction has new models and over 100 new voice lines, which sounds great of course, granted Warboss Grimskull keeps all his fantastic quips.

Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine is one of those games that has carved a place in people’s hearts for years, and given that we’re now in a real golden age of both Space Marine love and Warhammer 40K passion in general, in makes sense we’d get a touched-up version of the classic on modern platforms. Plus, you won’t have to pay full price for it either! The game will be sold for €39.99 or your regional equivilent, or downloadable on Game Pass for the subscription fee.

Are you going to dive into this new and improved version of Space Marine? Let us know below!
