Between Ninja Gaiden and Rise of the Ronin, Team Ninja has been pretty busy lately. The developer is keeping the pace into 2026 with the release of Nioh 3 on PS5 on February 6. Preorders are now live, and if you act fast, you can get the limited Nioh 3 Steelbook Launch Edition for $70. You’ll also get bonus DLC as a preorder bonus when Nioh 3 launches on February 6, 2026.

The Nioh 3 preorder bonuses differ between the physical and digital versions of the game. Preordering the physical Nioh 3 Steelbook Launch Edition gets you an exclusive Steelbook case featuring unique key art and slipcase cover. You’ll also get the Lucky Tanuki Netsuke and Kusanagi Netsuke Charm accessories. While not technically a preorder bonus, the Steelbook Launch Edition is only available in limited quantities–so while it’s possible you could find a copy after launch, it’s best to preorder if you’re interested in this version. A standard physical edition is available, though it doesn’t include the steelcase or extra in-game accessories.

There’s also an additional Early Purchase bonus that gets you the Hellfrost Warrior and Hellfrost Ninja armor and attire sets if you purchase any physical or digital version of Nioh 3 by February 19, 2026.

As for digital preorders, you’ll get the Early Purchase bonus plus three more in-game items: The Hellfire Warrior Attire set, Hellfire Ninja Attire Set, and the Scampuss Furball Netsuke charm.

The Nioh 3 Steelbook Launch Edition is essentially a boosted standard edition with a special Steelbook case and a few extra pieces of in-game content. In addition to the base game, you’ll also get the Lucky Tanuki Netsuke and Kusanagi Netsuke charms. You’ll also get the Hellfrost Warrior and Hellfrost Ninja attire Early Purchase bonuses if you buy the game by February 19. Here’s everything included in the Nioh 3 Steelbook Launch Edition:

Like the previous entries, Nioh 3 is a fast-paced third-person action RPG that moves quicker than most souls-likes. Playing as Tokugawa–whose appearance is fully customizable–you’ll fight the Yokai plaguing the land in intense combat. The main twist this time is the choice between two distinct combat styles: Samurai or Ninja. With the Samurai style, you can perform a “Ki Pulse” to regain stamina after a combo and build up an Arts Proficiency gauge that unleashes powerful finishing attacks. A new parry system has also been introduced to the gameplay.

Opting for the Ninja path grants agile, evasive techniques and faster strikes. Instead of weapon stances, you’ll wield ninja tools alongside unique abilities. Mist, for instance, creates a clone that distracts enemies, while swift dashes let you slip behind foes for lethal backstabs. Each style has its own gear, but you can switch between them on the fly to adapt in battle. Returning mechanics include guardian spirit transformations, Soul Cores, and Yokai abilities. Set in a “dark samurai world” teeming with sinister spirits, your journey will uncover hidden secrets as you march toward the calamity known as the Crucible.

If you’d like to catch up on the previous Nioh games, you can get both of them in a bundle deal for $34.80 (was $70) on PS5. This is a limited-time deal at Amazon, and the Nioh Collection includes remastered and enhanced editions of the 2017 and 2020 games. All of the previously released expansion packs for each game have also been included.

Nioh 3 isn’t the only Souls-like action RPG launching in earl 2026. Code Vein 2 will launch for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on January 30, 2026, and it’s priced at $70. Preorder bonuses include the Twin Fangs of the Lone Wolf weapon and the Forma Face Paint cosmetic, and if you purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition, Ultimate Edition, or Collector’s Edition, you’ll unlock 72-hour early access to the game.

Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 Is Still Coming, But What’s In It?

In late 2023, Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 brought most of the early games in the franchise to modern consoles. Since then, fans have clamored for Konami to complete the collection of games with Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2. Now, the producer behind Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has confirmed that Vol. 2 is still in the works, but declined to confirm any titles included in it.

During a presentation at the Tokyo Game Show, Metal Gear Solid producer Noriaki Okamura fielded a question about the next installment of the MGS Master Collection. X user Kuwabara357 shared a fan translation (via Video Games Chronicle), which essentially said that Vol. 2 is moving forward, but the team isn’t ready to share any information about it yet.

The most-anticipated possibility for the collection is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, which has never been released outside of the PS3. The first Master Collection excluded Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, a 2010 PlayStation Portable game that had previously been remastered in 2011 for the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. One of the series’ other portable games, Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, was also excluded from the Master Collection Vol. 1.

It’s possible that the Master Collection Vol. 2 could include those games and both parts of Metal Gear Solid 5, Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain. But without confirmation from Konami, we can only speculate.

In the meantime, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater’s Fox Hunt multiplayer mode will launch on October 30. MGS Delta producer Yuji Korekado has previously hinted that there may be more remakes in the franchise’s future. But if there are new MGS games being made, Okamura and Korekado expressed a desire to step aside and let a new generation of developers make the title.

To promote preorders for the ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X, Asus looked to one of the most popular video games of all time: Grand Theft Auto V. Michael De Santa actor Ned Luke and Franklin Clinton actor Shawn Fonteno appear in a new social media ad talking about the upcoming portable PC devices.

“It’s handheld freedom for everybody,” says Fonteno in the clip posted on X by Asus. “You know you gotta have an ally, and Xbox picked the right Ally,” adds Luke. Microsoft and Asus finally revealed the price points for the two PC portable devices yesterday. The ROG Xbox Ally will cost $600 in the US, while the Xbox Ally X will cost $1,000. Both handhelds will launch October 16.

The base model ROG Xbox Ally has drawn comparisons to the Steam Deck OLED from a specs perspective, featuring an AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor (Zen 4), 16GB of DDR5 RAM, and a 512GB SSD. Meanwhile, the premium Xbox Ally X has an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor (Zen 5), 24GB DDR5 RAM, and a 1TB SSD. In June, GameSpot got hands-on time with the Xbox Ally X.

Asus announced that the GTA V stars would “help get folks aboard the ROG Xbox Ally hype train” last month. Previously, the company has worked with GTA V star Steven Ogg (Trevor Philips), too.

Earlier this month, Microsoft revealed that it was raising Xbox prices once again in the US. Starting October 3, the Xbox Series S will retail for $400 (up from $380), while the Xbox Series X 1TB will cost $650 (up from $600).

There’s No Hurry To Finish Hollow Knight: Silksong (Or Any Game) Right Away

On September 4, I was one of the many eager Hollow Knight fans who hastily opened up every gaming storefront to experience the moment when the ludicrously long wait for Hollow Knight: Silksong finally ended. Like everyone else, I experienced the crashing of these storefronts, but eventually, to my delight, I managed to install Silksong on my Nintendo Switch 2.

I’ve barely touched the game since.

More than three weeks after its noteworthy launch, my progress in the game is significantly behind that of my friends and peers. Some have already rolled credits, and lengthy, spoiler-tagged conversations about Silksong on Discord read like classified CIA documents. Meanwhile, I’ve only just defeated the Bell Beast, an important but fairly early boss that you encounter in the story’s first hour.

It’s a common occurrence for me to download the newest, hottest video game, only to briefly tinker around with it before moving on to something else. Over the years, it’s been challenging to pinpoint why this is. And while there’s surely a number of different factors that contribute to this, I eventually realized what was behind this block with Silksong: I’m afraid to play it.

I’m not scared of the game itself or its content–while there are some gnarly and unsettling sights in the world of Hollow Knight, it’s not a particularly scary game. Rather, I’m afraid of getting lost. I’m afraid of the uncertainties ahead as I progress through the labyrinths of Pharloom and the indecision that comes with each split path. I’m afraid of not knowing where the next bench will be as I stray farther away from a safe haven–as the probability of dying suddenly and losing my rosaries increases.

This is a phenomenon I often experience with metroidvanias–one in which fear and apprehension overcome logic as I reach areas that I perceive to be dead ends, leading me to abandon that playthrough for an extended period. Yet, this all seems to contradict the fact that the metroidvania is one of my favorite genres of video games. From Ori and the Blind Forest to Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, I revel in the opportunity to explore a sprawling yet intricately designed map. There are very few moments in gaming that can rival the gratification of unlocking a power-up that opens up new doors, or finding a shortcut that makes exploration much easier. I actually quite enjoy backtracking, especially as you gain more abilities and skills, and appreciate any game where I can revisit older areas with a fresh perspective and spiffy new movement techniques.

But for my weird and special brain, all of this has to be done at a certain, slower pace, lest I overwhelm myself with the aforementioned anxieties. And for better or worse, both Hollow Knight games are the biggest culprits of evoking that uneasiness because of the vastness of their worlds, and the multi-step processes (and currency) necessary to create functional maps that assist in your exploration.

Even so, I still desire to explore every corner of Pharloom, expand my map by documenting every nook and cranny, and squeeze out as many activities as I can. My cautious approach to gaming has led me to a more patient approach to this game–one where I feel content to let others enjoy it and document their findings and thoughts before I plunge back into the depths.

There’s an entire online community of “patient gamers,” or people who wait at least a full year to play popular titles. While I don’t count myself as a member of this community, I do like a few of its tenets. The promises of bug fixes, balance changes, and DLC releases are good reasons to wait on any game–Silksong has already seen meaningful changes to make for a better experience, with new content also on the way. But it’s the prospect of having more documentation, tips, and walkthroughs available that motivates me to play Silksong at a slower pace.

After sitting on the original Hollow Knight for a long time, I aggressively got back into the game once it became clear that a Silksong release date was imminent. I had abandoned it about a year ago when I was stuck on the Soul Master boss fight, but through numerous attempts–and the help of YouTube guides–I finally defeated it and was able to move on. And I’ve felt a lot more confident and empowered during my more recent Hollow Knight exploits thanks to having interactive maps, endless YouTube tutorial videos, and countless forums at my disposal.

Perhaps it’s not the “correct” way to play Hollow Knight, but I believe it’s a valid approach to it–or any game, for that matter. Yes, I am more dependent on external help and watching the experiences of other players, but I am still fully engaging with the game itself and using that knowledge to gain the confidence to figure out my own approaches to what Hollow Knight throws at me.

Developer Team Cherry, as with any studio and its games, crafted Hollow Knight and Silksong in a deliberate manner to invoke certain feelings and behavior as you play. I understand arguments that taking my time and constantly checking maps and videos to ensure I’m on the right track detract from the curated experience, but I still feel that surprise and awe. The way I see it, I’m playing the game on an easy mode that I’ve made myself.

For instance, in the little time I’ve played Silksong, I walked into a room only to see that the infamous mini-boss Skarrgard was at the other end–and having spoiled myself by reading discourse on that encounter, I noped the heck out of that room.

I liken it to how I research horror movies before watching them in theaters to make sure I’m prepared for any intense or gory scenes. Yes, it might spoil a pivotal moment for Weapons, but it also ensures that I’m ready for the shock–and I still find myself appropriately uneasy during the moment. I can still appreciate it in the context of the rest of the story. My experience with a piece of art, no matter how it was crafted, is unique to me, and although I might engage with a metroidvania differently than intended, I still get the satisfaction I need from it through my own approach.

I admire anyone devoted enough to a new release that they skip work and dive into the rabbit hole, eager to be one of the first players ever to discover its secrets and have a complete, unspoiled experience. For games like Silksong, that isn’t me, and I think that’s okay.

In recent times, we feel so much pressure to finish games as quickly as possible, whether it’s due to internal pressure or the looming, impending release of the Next Big Game in a packed and relentless release schedule. Amid that tidal wave of new games, it’s important to remember that it’s solely your own choice on when and how to engage with them. There may be some joy in getting through the door first and comparing notes with everyone else as they all delve into the unknown, but that collective hype doesn’t have to dictate your playing (or spending) habits.

One day, sooner or later, I’ll get back into that Silksong rabbit hole myself, albeit with some guard rails. No matter how you choose to play a game like Hollow Knight: Silksong, just remember that they’re always there, and you deserve to play and finish them exactly the way you want to.

Another day, another Borderlands 4 update aiming to smooth out more of the performance problems which have plagued the looter shooter since launch, especially on PC. Unfortuntely, this latest patch looks to have led to an uptick in stuttering for some players, with Gearbox recommending some shader messing around as a potential fix.

In fairness to the studio, you can’t say they haven’t been working hard to get Borderlands 4 running a bit more smoothly since problems in that department became apparent, with this being the third post-launch patch targeting performance in the past couple of weeks. One of them was confusingly noteless, but hey.

Anyway, this one has notes, and delving into them you’ll find a few tweaks to weekly activities being granted top billing before things descend into fix territory. The weekly big encore boss has been swapped to a tougher version of another existing boss and will offer more loot. The weekly wildcard mission’s changed and Maurice’s Black Market Vending Machine has been moved.

In terms of fixes, Gearbox cited the rectifying of “various instances of hitching, low FPS, and crashes” as well as “infinite loading screens during crossplay”. Characters should also load up faster in menus, and their animations have been updated to match the fixes. Sadly, it seems that the update’s actually led some players to experience more performance problems, with Gearbox acknowledging this in a follow-up tweet.

“Stuttering issues should resolve over time as the shaders continue to compile in the background while playing,” they wrote. “If you’re still experiencing issues after 15 minutes of continuous play, you can also clear your shader cache via your video card manufacturer’s approved method.” If problems persist, you’ll have to file a support ticket.

That aside, studio have also made some changes to rewards and progression with this update, plus some minor tweaks to individual vault hunters. On top of that, there’s a bit of gear balancing, with the tweaks as follows:

  • Hellwalker: now always spawns with Fire element
  • Tediore weapons: +10% Damage and +10% magazine size
  • Order Pistol Lucky Clover (Rocket Reload): increased fire rate
  • Order Sniper Rifle Fisheye: increased Damage

Borderlands 4 creative director Graeme Timmins has revealed in a tweet that the game’s next patch’ll be much heavier on the balancing tweaks. “As a note, we had too many Vault Hunter buffs to safely fit into today’s big update,” he wrote. “Instead, we broke up them into their own balance update that we’re targeting to release early next week instead.”

Here’s hoping that Gearbox can get their shooty thing running nicely soon, especially since yapping CEO Randy Pitchford thankfully looks to have stopped giving impromptu setup advice on the socials. As for the game itself, Jasmine Mannan gave it a go for us and generally liked what these four bordered lands had to offer.

A number of Tt Lego games could be on the way for Nintendo Switch 2, including Lego games based on notable franchises like Star Wars and Harry Potter.

Whilst not confirmed by either Nintendo or Lego directly, an eagle-eyed fan spotted a number of classic Lego games advertised under the Switch 2 banner at Zurich Pop Con over the weekend. Of the five games included on the banner, not a single one has been formally announced for Switch 2, although all are available on the OG Switch.

However, all five games included on the banner – LEGO City Undercover, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, LEGO Jurassic World, LEGO Harry Potter Collection, and LEGO DC Super-Villains – are clearly badged beneath a Switch 2 logo.

Collectors of Lego’s wide-ranging race car models and Formula 1 fans have another chance to buy the Amazon-exclusive 10-in-1 bundle that quickly sold out at launch earlier this year. The Lego Speed Champions: Ultimate Formula 1 Collector’s Pack has received a surprise restock six months after selling out. Released in March, this massive box set includes all 10 Lego Speed Champions F1 cars in the series and an exclusive poster. The Ultimate F1 Collector’s Pack retails for $270 and features 10 officially licensed race cars, 10 Lego minifigures, an exclusive poster, and a giant display box showcasing the 2,601-piece collection.

The bundle was only available for a few weeks after launch before it sold out. Prior to Amazon’s restock this month, there was no indication the bundle would return, but Amazon must have saved some units for the holiday season. In addition to this restock, Amazon has deals on a bunch of Formula 1 Lego sets across multiple collections.

Lego had released Formula 1 models before this year, but those were usually one-offs, whereas this year’s expanded partnership featured the 10 Speed Champions cars, a collection of Lego City playsets, new Technic display models, and even a “minifigure” with 12 mini F1 cars.

This year’s Lego Speed Champions F1 collection includes popular race cars from Aston Martin, Mercedes, McLaren, Ferrari, Williams Racing, and more. The race cars measure approximately 8 inches long and 3 inches wide. Piece counts range from 242 to 269.

The aforementioned Lego F1 miniature race car collection is discounted at Amazon and Walmart right. Normally $30, the mystery boxes with six cars each are up for grabs for only $20. There are 12 cars to collect, and each box contains six different models. Just know that if you buy more than one, you’re likely to get duplicates.

More Lego Speed Champions F1 Cars

The Ultimate Collector Pack isn’t the first lego Formula 1 exclusive at Amazon. Last year, Amazon was the exclusive retail partner for the McLaren Racing Pack, a combo Speed Champions and Technic bundle with two cars and 697 pieces. The McLaren Racing Pack is officially retired but Amazon still has it in stock for $77. The McLaren Speed Champions F1 car that’s included is also available separately for $23. The Technic car in the bundle is actually Formula E, not F1, and it’s available for $40 (was $50) at Amazon. Both models in the bundle are pull-back cars.

The Lego Speed Champions Mercedes-AMG sports car and SUV bundle below isn’t Formula 1, but it’s worth highlighting here The 808-piece Speed Champions bundle is on sale for only $30.59.

Lego Technic Formula 1 Sets

For a different kind of small-scale F1 build, check out the Lego Technic Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E Pull-Back Car for $21.55 (was $27). A large display model version of this car is also available for $209 (was $220). At the moment, the best deal on one of the bigger F1 Lego sets is the 1,432-piece McLaren Formula 1 2022 for $160 (was $200).

Lego released five Formula 1 playsets for younger racing fans in its Lego City series earlier this year. You can get an 86-piece McLaren Race Car for only $8 (was $13) and a two-car bundle featuring Williams Racing & Haas Race Cars for $16 (was $20). The latter is part of Lego’s preschooler series for kids ages four and up. Another cool option is the 322-piece Pit Stop & Pit Crew set for $24 (was $30). This playset comes with a Ferrari race car, interactive pit stop, five minifigures, and numerous swappable accessories.

Lego Icons Formula 1 Sets

Multiple Formula 1 drivers and their race cars have received their own Lego Icons sets. A minifigure of Brazilian legend Ayrton Senna and his McLaren MP4/4 are available in a 693-piece display model for $64 (was $80). A minifigure of former British driver Nigel Mansell and a Williams Racing FW114B F1 car are available for $80 in a 799-piece set.

Walmart has a Lego Speed Champions 5-in-1 Bundle

It’s not an F1 bundle, but racing fans should check out the Walmart-exclusive Lego Speed Champions Sports Car Bundle before it’s gone. This makeshift 5-in-1 bundle is up for grabs for $85 (was $135) until the end of the month–or until it sells out–as part of Bricktember at Walmart.

Microsoft block Israel’s access to Azure and genAI tech used to surveil millions of Palestinian phone calls, according to report

Amid a consumer boycott of their Xbox business, Microsoft are apparently ending the Israeli military’s access to certain Azure cloud and generative AI technologies used to surveil Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank. As reported by the Guardian, one of the publications who originally exposed the surveillance project, the company told Israeli officials last week that spy agency Unit 8200 had violated Microsoft’s terms of service by storing records of civilian phone calls and other data on Azure servers.

Microsoft’s vice-chair and president Brad Smith allegedly informed staff of the termination of the Unit 8200 partnership in an email sent on Thursday 18th September, shared with the Guardian. In that email, he said that Microsoft had “ceased and disabled a set of services to a unit within the Israel ministry of defense”, including cloud storage and AI services. “We do not provide technology to facilitate mass surveillance of civilians,” the email continues. “We have applied this principle in every country around the world, and we have insisted on it repeatedly for more than two decades.”

The Guardian also cite another email from a senior Microsoft executive to Israel’s ministry of defence, sent late last week, in which the executive noted that “[w]hile our review is ongoing, we have at this juncture identified evidence that supports elements of the Guardian’s reporting.”

Microsoft confirmed that they had supplied technology and services to the Israeli military during the latter’s current Gaza offensive this May, following an investigation of the alleged use of Microsoft genAI models to facilitate airstrikes, among other operations.

In August this year, a joint investigation by the Guardian, +972 Magazine, and Local Call found that Microsoft had worked with Unit 8200 specifically to create an “indiscriminate new system” for gathering data on Palestinians, including a sizeable pool of non-combatants. For context, according to alleged leaked Israeli military intelligence, around 83% of the tens of thousands of Palestinians reported killed in the current conflict’s first 19 months were civilians.

The reporting inspired the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions organisation to launch a campaign against Microsoft’s gaming business. Microsoft workers have been openly protesting against their employer’s involvement with the assault on Gaza since early 2024.

Back in May, Microsoft insisted that they had found “no evidence” that their technology was being used to target or harm Palestinians, following a review carried out by an unnamed third party. In August, a spokesperson announced that they would carry out another review, while insisting that “[a]t no time during this engagement has Microsoft been aware of the surveillance of civilians or collection of their cellphone conversations using Microsoft’s services, including through the external review it commissioned.”

The Guardian claim that as much as 8000 terabytes of intercepted calls were being held in Azure datacentres in the Netherlands as part of the Microsoft/Unit 8200 partnership. The paper adds that Unit 8200 appear to have swiftly moved the data elsewhere in the wake of their reporting. Israel now allegedly plan to transfer it all to Amazon’s Web Services cloud platform – neither Amazon nor the Israel Defense Forces have responded to the Guardian’s request for comment.

The reported partial divestment from Israel doesn’t reveal which “elements” of the Guardian’s reporting Microsoft have corroborated as part of their review. Microsoft continue to have a wider commercial relationship with the Israeli armed forces. They are also far from the only big overseas technology company to have significant dealings with Israel’s military, before and during the current invasion and destruction of Gaza – an Associated Press investigation in February also mentions Google, Amazon, Palantir, Cisco, and Oracle. A UN special rapporteur has accused western tech firms at large of being complicit in an “economy of genocide”.

Back to the Future’s upcoming 40th Anniversary Steelbook Edition 4K Blu-rays are back in stock and discounted at Amazon. Fans of the classic film trilogy can preorder Back to the Future’s Steelbook Edition for $30; Back to the Future II is up for grabs for $28, and Back to the Future III is only $25. The 40th Anniversary Trilogy Box Set is available to preorder for $45. Unfortunately, Amazon’s exclusive Limited Edition Gift Set remains sold out, and it’s unclear if it will be restocked again. All Back to the Future 40th Anniversary Edition products launch October 14.

Back to the Future’s new Steelbook Edition is a three-disc set with 4K Blu-ray, 1080p, and digital versions of the movie. The third disc is strictly for the extensive collection of bonus features.

The front cover shows Marty McFly staring at his watch (yet again) and the DeLorean Time Machine is seen speeding toward the iconic Back to the Future logo. All three cases remix the original movie posters with memorable snapshots from the movies. The interior artwork recreates one of the letters Marty writes to Doc Brown in Lou’s Cafe as well as the newspaper clipping about saving the clock tower and other notes and documents from the movie.

Back to the Future II is generally considered the weakest entry in the series, with most fans favoring either the first or third movie. It also happens to have the smallest list of bonus features. With Amazon’s discount, the 40th Anniversary Trilogy is only five bucks more than the existing Ultimate Trilogy.

If you haven’t watched the trilogy on 4K, you’re in for a treat. All three movies support Dolby Vision and even HDR10+, which isn’t all too common. With Dolby Atmos and Dolby TrueHD 7.1 surround sound, Huey Lewis and the News really shine when they perform their signature track, The Power of Love.

All told, the 40th Anniversary Trilogy is an eight-disc collection with over nine hours of bonus content. All of the special features listed under each Steelbook Edition are included. As mentioned, the 1985 original has plenty of other extras beyond the five new featurettes and panels. Here’s the rest of the list:
