Indiana Jones Is The First Big Microsoft Game Announced For Switch 2

by admin August 19, 2025

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is Microsoft’s first release confirmed for Switch 2. The stealth action adventure will hit Nintendo’s handheld hybrid in 2026, but the new DLC will arrive next month on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

MachineGames’ latest port to a Nintendo platform didn’t get a specific release date, so we have no idea if it’s coming in the first half of 2026 or the holiday season. We also don’t know what it will look like since there was no accompanying gameplay teaser. I guess all those Switch 2 dev kits really did go out late, even to places like Microsoft.

But we did get another trailer at Gamescom for the upcoming Order of the Giants DLC expansion coming to Indiana Jones. Also a release date: September 6. Here’s the new footage:

It looks neat, although Troy Baker seems to be reverting back to his usual voice a bit. Story expansions are hit-or-miss with single-player games, but Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is close enough to feeling like a movie that I could see a bite-sized adventure being a nice treat.

Microsoft hasn’t yet announced any other ports for Switch 2, including ones that feel obvious like Sea of Thieves or Diablo 4. Hopefully, Indiana Jones means the dam is about to break on all of those, though it seems like we’ll have to wait until next year, and possibly beyond for most of them.

Game Of Thrones Fan Tells George R.R. Martin He’ll Be Dead Soon

by admin August 19, 2025

Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin recently appeared on a panel at Seattle WorldCon 2025 entitled The Shifting Landscape of Epic Fantasy, alongside Brandon Sanderson, Robin Hobb, Rebecca Roanhorse and Ryan Cahill. However, during the question-and-answer portion at the end of the session, one member of the audience got up in front of the all-star panel to complain that George R.R. Martin was taking far too long to write the penultimate book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series, The Winds of Winter, and given that he likely doesn’t have that long left to live, shouldn’t he let someone else write it?

The outstandingly rude question was met with an astonished murmur in the hall, while the guests on stage looked incredibly uncomfortable and attempted to move the topic on. However, the audience member seemed not to be able to pick up on the mood they’d created, and just continued digging their hole with a series of staccato additional words. You can see the squirm-inducing moment here (thanks ScreenRant):

Which somehow means someone choosing to film a two-hour panel in portrait wasn’t close to the most offensive thing that happened.

The bizarre, rambling question, which begins with the audience member talking somewhat incoherently about Martin Scorsese directing her in a movie, then takes a dramatic left-turn as she declares, “George, you’re not going to be around for much longer.”

Martin, who is 76 and clearly still reasonably healthy, didn’t appear to react to the premonition of his death (although the person filming infuriatingly avoided filming him at any point). “This is a tough question,” the person at the mic continues while the audience begins audibly booing and vocally disagreeing, attempting to rescue herself by adding, “this is more directed at Brandon…” The reason being that Brandon Sanderson, a spritely 49, took over writing Robert Jordan’s unfinished The Wheel of Time epic fantasy series after the author died, aged only 58. The questioner wondered if the same could be arranged for A Song of Ice and Fire. “How would you feel about someone else taking over and finishing the books?” she said, seemingly now addressing Martin again, despite various members of the panel loudly saying, “No, no,” and getting up from their seats.

“Not me,” you can hear Sanderson say, while Martin gets up from his seat. Even then, the person at the mic keeps going, responding to inaudible comments from the panel, in a room that surely could no longer contain any air at all.

Obviously a lot of GoT fans are frustrated by The Winds of Winter‘s prolonged absence, given the book was due out 14 years ago. Given the series is two books away from being finished, and given Martin’s current output, it’s reasonable to wonder if any human would live long enough to get it finished at the current rate. Assuming another 14 years, Martin would be 90. However, there are obviously more human and decent ways to approach the subject.

Martin said of the delay last year, “How could I be 13 years late? I don’t know, it happens a day at a time.” He then added, “A lot of people are already writing obituaries for me. ‘Oh, he’ll never be finished.’ Maybe they’re right. I don’t know. I’m alive right now! I seem pretty vital!”

And who knows! Maybe he’ll surprise everyone and release his version of the story’s conclusion all of a sudden (the Game of Thrones TV series had to write its own ending, given it unexpectedly ran out of source material). In the meantime, maybe don’t yell at the old dude on stage that you reckon he’ll die soon.

‘Stop with the advertising c***:’ The First Descendant dev apologizes for blatant AI ripoff ad, and players express their honest thoughts

The First Descendant devs admitted issues in their advertising strategy on TikTok after community backlash over AI-generated videos flooding the platform last week. The issue went to the extreme of a content creator being impersonated without his permission, as if he were endorsing the game.

Developer Nexon explained it didn’t create any of the videos shown in the reported TikTok ads. They used TikTok’s Creative Challenge system to allow other creators to make videos “voluntarily” for The First Descendant, which were automatically used as ads for the game on the platform. Nexon apologized and wrote:

“After confirming with TikTok, we learned that no system currently exists to verify potential copyright infringement, and TikTok is now conducting further investigations to identify any additional cases. One confirmed case involved unauthorized use of DanieltheDemon’s content by another creator. TikTok identified this as a violation of its guidelines and has already blocked the creator’s account.”

The company added that “We are taking the TikTok advertisement issue very seriously, recognizing that we failed to uphold the authenticity of our marketing content and to respect the efforts of our creators and community.” It promised “additional review steps” when publishing promotional material online for The First Descendant.

DanieltheDemon’s case was the most problematic one. Players spotted what seemed to be him robotically talking over The First Descendant gameplay in an ad on TikTok, but the creator later said it was not him in the video, and he didn’t authorize the use of his likeness in any of the published content. While Nexon didn’t make the video, the company still benefited temporarily from it with the TikTok ad.

The First Descendant community was unmoved by Nexon’s apology. On Steam, most players asked the developer to stop focusing on ads and fix game issues instead.

“Stop with the advertising c***, and make a FUN GAME. Fix the crap you broke, and make it more player-friendly,” an angry player wrote. “The best ads for a game are the people who play it,” a second one added.

Nexon’s reply has yet to make the game’s Reddit community care, but one player, while recognizing the company’s effort, echoed the sentiment that The First Descendant needs improvements first. “Their priorities are off at times, and the game’s balance is a f****** joke to the point where I don’t even play anymore […] but that doesn’t mean I don’t see the effort and care put into the game.”

The First Descendant has a new patch scheduled to release on Aug. 21, with content still to be confirmed. If players are to be heard, the game update will have balance changes and bug fixes that will make them want to advertise The First Descendant to their friends.

A Hollow Knight: Silksong “Special Announcement” is planned for Thursday, with the video set to run on YouTube at 3.30pm BST on 21st August.

Watch on YouTube

The news of a “Special Announcement” on Silksong comes after speculation (not unwarranted) that the game would be shown off during Gamescom ONL tonight, with a release date potentially being revealed.

Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier‬ posted on Bluesky to confirm that Silksong would not be having its release date revealed tonight:

“No, Silksong’s release date will not be announced today at Gamescom Opening Night Live, despite Geoff Keighley’s teasing,” read the post.

Game Features

  • Discover a whole new kingdom! Explore coral forests, mossy grottos, gilded cities and misted moors as you ascend to the shining citadel at the top of the world.
  • Engage in lethal acrobatic action! Wield a whole new suite of deadly moves as you dance between foes in deadly, beautiful combat.
  • Craft powerful tools! Master an ever-expanding arsenal of weapons, traps, and mechanisms to confound your enemies and explore new heights.
  • Solve shocking quests! Hunt down rare beasts, solve ancient mysteries and search for lost treasures to fulfil the wishes of the downtrodden and restore the kingdom’s hope. Prepare for the unexpected!
  • Face over 150 all-new foes! Beasts and hunters, assassins and kings, monsters and knights, defeat them all with bravery and skill!
  • Challenge Silk Soul mode! Once you conquer the kingdom, test your skills in an all-new mode that spins the game into a unique, challenging experience.
  • Experience a stunning orchestral score! Hollow Knight’s award-winning composer, Christopher Larkin, returns to bring melancholy melodies, symphonic strings and heart-thumping, soul strumming boss themes to the adventure.

Monster Hunter Wilds Tells Fans To Wait Until Winter For Fixes

by admin August 19, 2025

Monster Hunter Wilds latest update has given players plenty of new things to do, from grinding for new talismans to trying not to die to the new 9-star boss fights. But players on PC are still struggling with poor performance optimization, and Capcom now says no major fixes will be ready until the winter.

“To our hunters playing Monster Hunter Wilds on PC, we’re committed to listening to your feedback and improving both performance and stability of the game,” an update posted on X on August 18 reads. “Although we will continue to implement gradual improvements in the weeks ahead, we are targeting Free Title Update 4 this winter to implement a multifaceted plan, including CPU and GPU related optimizations, followed by a second stage of mitigation measures afterwards. We’ll share more information on the specifics in the future.”

The response from fans so far has been less than stellar. “It’s not normal to wait one year to get at least a small optimization for PC players,” wrote one. “We are paying for stability and performance as the same time free updates. I have a war machine and i have to play everything on LOW hoping it’s going well.” Another posted, “Love MHWilds I really do, but waiting almost a year for the game to run at least a little better is a bit crazy.”

Similar sentiments have been echoed across the game’s subreddit and recent Steam reviews where Monster Hunter Wilds still sits at just 25 percent, up from an all-time low earlier in the summer, but still far from where the overwhelmingly positive ratings other recent entries in the series sit. While not everyone’s facing issues, people on a range of machines are still reporting crashes, ugly textures, and unstable framerates even at 30fps.

There’s currently a new Title Update 3 scheduled for September to add a new monster and more balance adjustments to combat and progression, followed by Title Update 4 in the winter. There’s also the game’s first expansion, which new Monster Hunter entries tend to get 12-18 months after they ship. It’ll be a make-or-break moment for the players on PC who feel like the last six months have been closer to an Early Access experience.

Eight games, including an overlooked Metroidvania, will leave PlayStation Plus in September

by admin August 19, 2025

The games set to leave PlayStation Plus Extra in September have been revealed. The eight titles include some very good games, so you might want to make some time before 16th September to get them played.

As these games are part of the Game Catalogue and not the monthly games that you claim as part of PS Plus Essential, these games will no longer be playable from 16th September even if they are in your library.

Leaving PS Plus Extra on 16th September:

  • UFC 5 (PS5)
  • The Plucky Squire (PS5)
  • Night in the Woods (PS5, PS4)
  • Road 96 (PS5, PS4)
  • Pistol Whip (PSVR2)
  • Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir (PS4)
  • FIST: Forged In Shadow Torch (PS5, PS4)
  • Dragon’s Crown Pro (PS4)

Of the bunch, I’d certainly recommend FIST: Forged In Shadow Torch, especially if you are partial to a Metroidvania. Pistol Whip is superb if you have PS VR2, and the Plucky Squire is definitely worth a look even though it didn’t quite live up to pre-launch expectations. Night in the Woods is also excellent.

In fact, why stop there… Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir and Dragon’s Crown Pro are also very good games. So, really, what I’m saying is, don’t rush to play UFC 5 (which is fine, but just more UFC) or Road 96 (didn’t enjoy the writing on this, unfortunately), but all the others are worth your time.

Hollow Knight: Silksong teased for a re-reveal at Gamescom Opening Night Live today

by admin August 19, 2025

Hollow Knight: Silksong looks increasingly likely to be shown off in some form this evening at Gamescom Opening Night Live. Show host and producer Geoff Keighley tweeted a selfie while wearing a red nose, heavily pointing towards the game showing up at ONL tonight.

The Hollow Knight clown image has become a popular meme around every possible Silksong re-reveal, fans posting it every time they get their hopes up only for them to be dashed at lack of new info.

We already know Hollow Knight: Silksong will be playable at Gamescom on the show floor, so it’s not a massive leap to expect to see it kick off the show at ONL. Whether or not we get a release date alongside new gameplay, well, that might be asking for a lot, but if the game is going to release in 2025 we’d expect to be getting that info in the near future.

Gamescom ONL kicks off properly at 7pm BST today, with a pre-show expected beforehand.

Fallout Season 2 Images Tease New Vegas Before The Bombs Fell

by admin August 19, 2025

The second season of Amazon Prime’s live-action Fallout show arrives later this year, but before then, we have some new images of the post-apocalyptic series, and one in particular featuring a shot of Las Vegas before the bombs dropped and turned it into New Vegas is very, very intriguing.

On August 18, Amazon shared seven new images of the upcoming season of its hit Fallout TV show. The new screenshots show a variety of characters and locations, but the one that immediately caught my eye was a single shot of Howard Cooper (Walton Goggins) in a car driving down the Las Vegas Strip. (After the bombs fall, it becomes New Vegas.) In the window is a reflection of the Lucky 38’s large and iconic sign, first seen in 2010’s Fallout: New Vegas. In the show, Cooper survives the bombs falling and becomes the decaying bounty hunter known only as the Ghoul. But before that, he had a life pre-war that intersected with Vault-Tec and the company’s nefarious plans. And now it seems like he might have met Mr. House, a villain from New Vegas who was teased back in season one. Okay, Fallout season two, you have my attention.

©Amazon / Bethesda

The other teaser images released by Amazon include looks at Ella Purnell’s loveable Lucy and Aaron Morten’s Maximus. We also see Lucy’s dad, played by Kyle MacLachlan, who was revealed to be a pretty bad guy at the end of the show’s first season. He ran off in a power suit to New Vegas, and it seems we’ll be catching up with him later this year. Of course, this isn’t actually the first time we’ve seen some of this stuff, as set leaks earlier this year hinted at some pre-war flashbacks set in Las Vegas.

Last year, after premiering in April, the Fallout series received rave reviews, big ratings, and lots of award nominations, leading to a spike in people playing old Fallout games. Amazon quickly announced a second season, which wrapped up filming in May. The highly anticipated new season of Fallout arrives on Amazon Prime this December, and the show has already been picked up for a third season. Here’s a teaser for the show’s second season:

Dog-Led Horror Movie Good Boy Gets First Trailer

by admin August 19, 2025

I like horror movies okay, but I need a good concept to draw me in. Good Boy certainly has one of those, but the concept that makes it compelling is also one that taps into my most deep seated fears, and I don’t know if I can handle it. As the name suggests, Good Boy is a spooky movie whose events are viewed from the perspective of a dog. Aren’t we as humans subjected to the horrors enough? Do we need to bring our canine companions into the pain and suffering?

Good Boy premiered at South by Southwest way back in March, and the reception to the supernatural horror movie has been really strong so far, with early reviews calling it one of the best in the genre this year. Though I don’t know where it all ends up, several reviews call out that it’s very emotional and heartbreaking—which could mean anything, really—so if you’re looking for a straightforward scare, be aware that Good Boy might have a bit more going on. The film stars Indy as a dog whose owner has suffered a death in the family and who moves into a haunted house. Ever the watchful companion, Indy notices that something is amiss and he and his owner are not alone. Now, he has to do what he can to save his owner from the dangers lurking in their new home.

Y’all, I’mma throw up. There’s a reason Does the Dog Die?, an entire website dedicated to asking if a dog you see in movie trailers is going to die, exists, and it’s for people like me who can’t handle that shit. There’s already a page for Good Boy on that website and I saw it as I was grabbing the link. I can barely handle seeing a dog be in distress under normal circumstances, much less supernatural ones. Whether Indy makes it out or not, he’s about to have a bad night. I guess I’ve got some time to figure out if I want to see Good Boy, as the movie is coming to theaters on October 3.
