Class of ’89 demo at Gen Con 2025

by admin August 18, 2025

If you are like me, and most people, the biggest regret of your life is that you weren’t on the yearbook staff of your high school. The rest of you have already achieved greatness. For those of us in the majority, Class of ‘89 is going to bring us the taste of what could have been. I got to sit down to a demo of the game at Gen Con this year and I was impressed.

Prototype disclaimer. 80% gameplay complete, 0% Art & Graphics complete

First off, a disclaimer. The game is still undergoing playtesting and design, and work has barely started on the art. This preview will talk through core mechanics and images will be of what I saw, but some gameplay might be tweaked and the art can be improved with time and care.

Your job is simple enough, build a yearbook. Half of your personal board is for teachers and students, with a class of students coming after their teacher. Teachers score points for the students in the class who match their objective. Students will need to be placed in alphabetical order by their last initial. New teachers allow you to restart the alphabet, but might break up a high scoring group of kids. As the game progresses, you will be adding tokens to students, which will highlight their skills – like grades and athletics – and will be the main way they score points. Completing rows and columns on this page gives you bonuses: whether tokens, students, teachers, or clubs (which we’ll come back to). On the other half of your board is the extracurricular page. Here is where you’ll build a tableau of club pictures, ads, and ephemera. These give you one time bonuses like tokens or end of game scoring objectives that encourage the students to excel in certain areas, a.k.a. gathering more of certain token types.

With that not-so-short background, what are you actually doing in this game? Worker placement, where the decisions aren’t really about where you are going, but what’s there when you get there and which worker you use.

See, every place in the school has a teacher/faculty member (who gives one time bonuses instead of end game scoring), a few students, and a tile that can be placed on your extracurricular board. Since the same staff deck and student deck populate the various sections, the gym teacher that complements your extremely athletic students might be found in the library. The locations let you bump up on the club track (bear with me on this) and have different sized tiles, but otherwise are identical. I don’t think this is a problem, as there’s so much to keep track of and optimize in every placement. Making one more decision would paralyze too many players. Because, believe it or not, there’s another big decision point. Which worker do you use? Every player has the same four workers, each with a different power. Do you excel in clubs, gather an extra resource from this section, get an extra token and signature (currency), or avoid paying the cost of the space and double up workers in a section? And you only get to play three of those workers in a round. So you are going to want to optimize your choices.

6 locations to place workers. End game scoring objectives, round marker, and the club tracker all above the board

Finally, clubs. Clubs like the National Honor Society will give you resources as you climb the ladder in them, and if you are highest or tied for it at the end of each round, you get signatures or the token type that’s associated with the club. Why do I save this for last? Because this is the part of the game we saw least and what I want more of (and the one rule we messed up the whole game, not realizing that you could get tokens). If you’re this far in, you’ll realize that there’s a lot of decision-making going on. What you don’t realize is that the demo-er was going easy on us. For the sake of our brains, they took out a major aspect of the students. Each student is aligned with two clubs, one on each side of the card. When placed next to another student such that they share a club between them, you go up in that track. Not a complicated statement, but one that is going to add to play time and make alphabetizing a lot more difficult. I really want to see what’s going on with clubs once I get to play with that mechanic, but also completely agree that new players might find that one extra bit just too much to deal with.

Finished card examples

As a preview and a demo, this game stood out to me. The worker placement is the main way you interact with other players, but frankly, is much less important than the decisions you make on your board to fill out the space as best you can. And Class of ‘89 has my favorite things in a board game: a relatively quick teach with lots of depth in the gameplay. Giving me a chance to fulfill my childhood aspirations that I let slip through my fingers was just a bonus.

Make-A-Wish launches initiative to “empower the games industry” to grant wishes

by admin August 18, 2025

Make-A-Wish International has launched Infinite Wishes, a new global initiative that aims to unite the video games industry “to help grant life-changing wishes for children living with critical illnesses.”

Announced in a press release on August 13, 2025, the Infinite Wishes initiative was launched “in response to a dramatic rise in gaming-related wishes,” which range from children wishing for a custom-built PC to wishing to meet developers.

Infinite Wishes aims to provide “a flexible, inclusive framework for the industry” to allow game companies to help grant these gaming-related wishes, and “to make a meaningful impact, no matter an organization’s size or budget.”

The initiative offers tiered partnership levels and non-financial participation offers, allowing companies to get involved in a way that suits their goals and resources.

“Infinite Wishes is about creating pathways for the games industry to do great things, whether that’s funding wishes, hosting a livestream, or simply sparking a new idea for impact,” said April Stallings, charitable gaming and creators community manager at Make-A-Wish International.

“We know how passionate and talented this community is. This initiative is about giving teams a purpose-driven outlet to rally around – one that lifts spirits, sparks creativity, and changes lives.”

To help guide the programme, Make-A-Wish International has assembled a Games Industry Advisory Committee, consisting of representatives from Square Enix, Bethesda, Bandai Namco Entertainment, Raccoon Logic, 2K, Deviant Legal, Modoyo, Stream for a Cause, and Dames4Games. While inaugural members include Raptor PR and PlaySafe ID.

“There’s never been a better time for the games industry to show its heart, said Wouter Van Vugt, EMEA communications and community engagement senior director at Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe and chair of the Make-A-Wish Games industry advisory committee.

“Through Infinite Wishes, our industry has the opportunity to channel our collective goodwill and reach into something that delivers lasting, real-world impact for children who need it most. The opportunity to help fulfil a child’s wish is one of the most powerful things we can offer.”

Kai Cenat set to reveal his own Fortnite Icon Series skin

by admin August 18, 2025

Kai Cenat has just “leaked” that he’s getting his own Icon Series skin in Fortnite, announcing when fans can finally take a first look at it.

Nowadays, Fortnite isn’t merely known for being a Battle Royale title. Thanks to the expanding list of collabs, the title has truly evolved into a pop culture phenomenon.

In addition to featuring all kinds of fictional characters and real-life personalities, the game has also brought popular content creators and streamers to the island, such as Ninja, NickEh30, and Clix.

It turns out, the next one to join the Icon Series lineup is no other than Twitch streamer Kai Cenat, as seen in a recent announcement. Here’s everything you need to know about the reveal.

Kai Cenat “leaks” his own Fortnite Icon Series Skin

Kai Cenat shared the announcement in a post on X, claiming that there’s a “huge announcement” regarding a Fortnite Icon Series Reveal tomorrow at  8:30 PM PST/11:30 PM EST.

Article continues after ad

This, of course, came off as quite a surprise to the community, considering dataminers usually leak skins early. Though there are occasionally some exceptions that catch people off guard, like this one.

One thing that’s worth pointing out, however, shortly after the announcement, the official Fortnite account retweeted Kai’s post, confirming that he really is about to get his own skin.

Epic didn’t spoil any details further in their post, though they did give a playful nudge by saying “leaked.”

Either way, even though the skin has yet to be revealed, looking at past Icon Series skins, we can expect it to come with additional cosmetics, such as a pickaxe, back bling, and emote, among others.

This isn’t the first time Kai has worked with Epic. In 2024, Kai Cenat, Sketch, and the AMP team were featured in the Reload trailer.

Since then, Sketch has received his own emote, while Kai is about to get his own collab added. In terms of Fortnite, Kai has also done a marathon stream with iShowSpeed, in which they challenged themselves to keep streaming until they secured a Victory Royale.

Scottie Scheffler completes comeback, wins BMW Championship

by admin August 18, 2025

Aug 17, 2025, 09:37 PM ET

OWINGS MILLS, Md. — The numbers Scottie Scheffler is compiling have been drawing comparisons with Tiger Woods. The world’s No. 1 player had a Tiger-like moment with the trophy on the line and a club in his hand Sunday in the BMW Championship.

Scheffler’s 82-foot chip on the 17th — the hardest hole in the final round at Caves Valley — landed about 60 feet short and rolled the rest of the way, picking up speed, losing speed and dropping on the final turn. The birdie all but wrapped up another win, his fifth PGA Tour title this year.

It was reminiscent of Woods delivering magic to overshadow his sublime skill, with his chip-in from behind the 16th green at the Memorial and his chip-in for eagle in the World Cup in Japan.

Scheffler already had erased a four-shot deficit against hard-luck Robert MacIntyre in five holes. He was clinging to a one-shot lead on the 17th, a daunting par 3 with a back right pin and water right.

Scheffler was in the left rough, the safe spot, facing a shot that a dozen players had chipped over the green.

“I knew it was just going to be really fast, and do my best to get it down there and give myself a good look for par,” he said. “When it came out, it came out how we wanted to and then it started breaking and it started looking better and better.

“And yeah, it was definitely nice to see that one go in.”

Scheffler closed with a 3-under 67 for a two-shot victory and became the first player since Woods — there’s that name again — in 2006 and 2007 to win at least five times on the PGA Tour in consecutive years.

MacIntyre didn’t make a birdie until the 16th hole but stayed in the game after losing his big lead, mostly when Scheffler began missing short putts.

MacIntyre pulled within one shot of the lead going to the 17th when Scheffler worked his magic and had to settle for another runner-up finish to a memorable shot, just like he did at Oakmont when J.J. Spaun holed a 65-foot birdie putt to clinch the U.S. Open in June.

MacIntyre was in the scoring room when he watched Spaun’s winning putt and applauded it. He was alongside Scheffler at the BMW Championship, staring in disbelief but angry at his poor play off the tee that cost him the big lead early.

“When he’s pitched that in on 17 and then he’s hit the perfect tee shot on 18, it’s pretty much game over just then. You’re playing for second place at that point,” MacIntyre said.

“He’s the better player on the day. I’m just really pissed off right now. Right now, I want go and smash up my golf clubs, to be honest with you.”

MacIntyre made 18 birdies in the first 45 holes of the tournament and only two over the last 27 holes. He closed with a 73 and got some consolation prizes that didn’t mean much in the moment. He cracked the top 10 in the world for the first time, going to No. 8.

Scheffler’s chip-in elicited the loudest cheer of the day.

The most satisfying shot came on the 15th, when his lead was down to one shot after a three-putt. MacIntyre hit to 7 feet from the fairway. Scheffler was in a deep bunker and hit 8-iron to 6 feet.

MacIntyre missed. Scheffler made.

“That was a really important shot in the tournament, one that I think will fly a little bit under the radar,” Scheffler said.

The season is not over for Scheffler, who leads the 30 players who advanced to this week’s Tour Championship at Atlanta’s East Lake with a chance to become the first repeat FedEx Cup champion since the series began in 2007.

All 30 players at East Lake can win the $10 million first-place check. The field includes Harry Hall, the only golfer who played his way into the top 30 on Sunday, and even that was tense. Hall made bogey on the par-5 16th — the easiest hole on the course — then went long and left at the 17th. He also chipped in for birdie and was safe going up the 18th.

Rickie Fowler was on the verge of getting back to East Lake only to twice miss the green from the fairway on the back nine — leading to bogey on the 14th and double bogey on the 15th, and knocking him out of the top 30.

Fowler finished with a 5-foot par putt. Had he missed, Michael Kim would have been in the Tour Championship. Instead, the 30th spot went to Akshay Bhatia, despite making four bogeys on the back nine and feeling as though he had blown it.

MacIntyre squandered a big chance too.

He showed plenty of grit on Saturday playing in the final group with Scheffler. But on the opening hole, Scheffler drilled his drive down the middle and hit to 6 feet for birdie, while MacIntyre missed the fairway and a 6-foot par putt. It was an early statement.

MacIntyre missed another fairway at the second and made bogey. He went from the fairway to a bunker on the short par-4 fifth, a two-shot swing when the Scotsman failed to get up-and-down for par and Scheffler made birdie.

Then Scheffler took the lead with a wedge to 6 feet for birdie on No. 7.

It looked like it would be a runaway at that point as Scheffler never seemed to miss — except when he had a chance to extend the lead. He missed birdie chances of 5 feet at No. 8 and 8 feet at No. 10. He botched a simple up-and-down at the 12th and three-putted from 18 feet on the 14th. Each chance kept MacIntyre in the hunt.

Then came one chip on the 17th for a knockout punch.

Scheffler, who finished at 15-under 265, has 18 career titles in the past 3½ years since his first PGA Tour title in Phoenix.

Umamusume player claims to get “boosted luck” by playing the game on a fridge

by admin August 18, 2025

An Umamusume fan has managed to use his smart fridge to play the game to train Minoho Bourbon, claiming that it boosts his luck.

While Umamusume: Pretty Derby has been around in Japan for some time, the popularity of the game truly went through the roof following the release of its global version.

The premise of the game itself is quite simple. In this gacha game, you can train a plethora of different horse girls in their Careers as well as see them participate and thrive in all sorts of races.

One of the most common ways to play this game is through mobile, considering it’s available on iOS and Android. However, one fan decided to take it a step further and essentially repurposed his fridge into a device to play this simulator title.

User soultgs on TikTok has gone viral for showcasing his Umamusume: Pretty Derby gameplay on his Samsung refrigerator.

While a fascinating and unique way to play, at the same time, it also poses the question of whether or not it’s comfortable to play on a fridge for long periods, considering the position you’d have to be in, as well as the lack of an armrest.

In one of the clips, he was seen training Mihono Bourbon when a family member asked him what he was up to. When asked why he played on the fridge, he jokingly said, “Why wouldn’t I play on the fridge? Come on now, it’s a lot bigger on my phone and on my PC. If I can use a fridge, why can’t I use a fridge?”

Eventually, he was met with a decision of having to gamble on a 24% failure on Guts while training. That’s a risky move at first glance, but it certainly didn’t discourage him at all, as he suggested that playing on the fridge helps him with his luck.

In his own words, he said: “24% failure, but it’s on the fridge, so I have a boosted luck.” As if predicting his own future, the risky option ended up being a success.

Ultimately, in a separate clip, he showcased the labor of his hard work in training his Umamusume. Although she didn’t end up winning the race in the end, he seemed pretty content, mentioning that she had “tried her hardest” in the comments.

Omaha forward Deng Mayar, who transferred from North Dakota this offseason, died Saturday in a drowning incident, the school announced Sunday. He was 22.

According to news reports, Mayar was with a friend at the Blackridge Reservoir in Herriman, Utah, when they began to struggle in the water. Per Fox 13 in Salt Lake City, Mayar’s friend reached the shore but went back into the water to help Mayar.

Mayar continued to struggle and went underwater. He did not reemerge. Rescue crews recovered his body late Saturday night. His friend was hospitalized and is expected to recover, according to news reports.

“Our entire program is devastated to learn of Deng’s passing,” Omaha men’s basketball coach Chris Crutchfield said in a statement. “After competing against him for two years, we were elated to add him to our team and he made tremendous progress this summer.

“[Mayar] was a joy to be around and made our culture better. We will miss him greatly. Jodi and I, along with our entire program, send our hearts and prayers to Deng’s family, friends and teammates.”

The 6-foot-8 Mayar, who was raised in Salt Lake City, averaged 6.3 points and 4.0 rebounds for North Dakota last season. He finished with 12 points and seven rebounds in a 92-79 win over South Dakota in his former squad’s season finale. He then transferred to Omaha after the season.

Studio Atelico raises $5 million to build AI-first games studio

by admin August 18, 2025

Studio Atelico has raised $5 million in a seed investment round, which will be used to support the team’s mission “to redefine the role of generative AI in games.”

The funding round was led by Nathan Benaich of Air Street Capital, which announced the investment via its publication, Air Street Press, on August 14, 2025. Other investors include Stanford computer scientist Chris Ré, Hugging Face co-founder and CSO Thomas Wolf, and Snorkel AI co-founder and CEO Alex Ratner.

Founded in 2024 by AI and gaming industry veterans from Uber, Meta, and Creative Assembly, Studio Atelico is building an on-device AI engine for video games, which the company describes in its own press release as “a toolkit that helps us and other studios bring AI-powered experiences to life without massive budgets or custom infrastructure.”

In addition to building this engine, Studio Atelico is using the funding to “build games that push past the boundaries of hand-authored pipelines.”

“We don’t mean ‘generate a few trees procedurally,’” the company explained in its release. “We mean reactive worlds, characters that riff off your choices like improv actors, stories that don’t just branch but bloom. This is the kind of gameplay we’ve always wanted as players, and now we finally have the tech (and the team) to make it real.”

Studio Atelico’s first game is already in development, with more to be shared “soon.” While the company itself hasn’t said much about what this game will be, Air Street Press said the studio’s first releases “will target high-growth mobile and cross-platform markets.”

In its release, the company also addressed ethical concerns around generative AI.

“Ethics aren’t an afterthought; they’re part of our foundation,” Studio Atelico said. “We’re working directly with artists to ensure fairness, consent, compensation, and collaboration are part of every step, from model training to revenue sharing.

“We’re choosing on-device AI when we can, partnering with creators who share our values, and contributing to open datasets that prioritize ethics over speed.”

“We believe creativity should be amplified, not replaced,” the company added.

Best M2010 ESR loadout in Battlefield 6

Everyone needs to start somewhere.

Recon class has always been about standing in the back lines and picking enemies off with a sniper rifle. Battlefield 6 may have a lot of focus on close-quarter combat, but you can still find a good sniping spot. And to make it work, you need the M2010 ESR sniper rifle.

Here’s the best M2010 ESR loadout in Battlefield 6, including attachments, gadgets, and more.

The best M2010 ESR loadout in BF6

M2010 ESR is the default sniper rifle in Battlefield 6. It kills with two shots to the body and one to the head – a classic weapon type in Battlefield. There’s not much special about this weapon, but due to limited choices, there’s no choice but to make it work.

Here are the best attachments for the M2010 ESR:

SlotAttachmentMuzzleCompensated BrakeBarrel26″ CarbonUnderbarrelQD Grip PodMagazine8RND MagAmmunitionFull Metal JacketScopeS-VPS 6.00XOptic AccessoryAG Coating

26″ Carbon is the barrel of choice for faster aiming speed and muzzle velocity for quick and hard-hitting shots. Much like on assault rifles like the M433, the Compensated Brake reduces recoil. In the underbarrel slot, the QD Grip Pod is the best across the board, as it both allows for a supported shooting stance and improves aiming speed. This comes at a slight cost of aimed accuracy while moving. The default ammunition type and the scope are both already good. Although you could swap the scope for something close range, depending on the mode.

The big question to answer is whether you need the DLC Bolt. By default, to rechamber the sniper while aiming down sights, you need to press the fire button again after shooting or exit ADS. DLC Bolt allows for automatic rechambering after shooting. It’s a quality-of-life feature, but it costs 30 Attachment Points.

Without the DLC Bolt, you can equip the AG Coating to narrow down the scope glint’s visible cone, and a larger, eight-round mag. You could also replace the magazine with a Range Finder, but it may not always be as useful due to map sizes.

Best M2010 ESR gadgets and throwable

Nothing special here. Screenshot by Dot Esports

M2010 ESR is best on the Recon class because you can hold your breath while aiming down sights. Other classes can’t do that, making sniper rifles less effective. But you can still run it on an Assault, for example, and pair it with an assault rifle to cover more ranges.

Here’s the best Recon class loadout to run with the M2010 ESR:

  • Field Specs: Sniper
  • Primary: M2010 ESR
  • Gadget one: Demolition Charge
  • Gadget one: Deploy Beacon
  • Throwable: Smoke

There aren’t that many options to choose from, with only two gadgets available. The grenade is the only thing you can customize, and smokes are much more useful to escape from the enemy’s sight, unless you’re rushing in.

Volkswagen gates a new vehicle’s full horsepower behind monthly subscription

by admin August 17, 2025

Volkswagen’s ID3 Pro and Pro S vehicles are some of their latest car models, and, while they look like a typical car the iconic vehicle manufacturer would deliver, there’s a secret under the hood.

For both of these models, the maximum horsepower is listed at 228bhp (brake horsepower). However, driving the vehicle normally, you can only push it to 201bhp. In order to get that extra power out of it, you’ll have to pay extra.

Article continues after ad

At around $20 a month, $200 a year, or a lump sum payment of roughly $760 dollars, you can get that full horsepower.

And, while it’s difficult to imagine why the ID3 models are limiting themselves and forcing a paywall for users who want to put the pedal to the metal, Volkswagen explained their reasoning behind the change.

Volkswagen explains horsepower subscription service

The way that the sub works for their ID3 vehicles is incredibly bizarre. Rather than it being tied to any one driver, the sub is tied to the vehicle. So, for instance, if someone were to pay the full price of buying that power boost for life and they were to sell their ID3 secondhand, whoever got the car next wouldn’t have to pay for it.

Article continues after ad

Article continues after ad

Volkswagen views the service as a way to offer people more power under the hood without having to sell them a new car.

“Offering more power to customers is nothing new – historically many petrol and diesel vehicles have been offered with engines of the same size, but with the possibility of choosing one with more potency. These traditionally are higher up in the product range, with more specification and a higher list price,” reads a statement sourced from Autoexpress UK.

Volkswagen has released a vehicle that gates its full horsepower behind a paid subscription

Users have to pay a monthly fee of around $20 to drive the car at top speed pic.twitter.com/TMCh3748pb

— Dexerto (@Dexerto) August 17, 2025

“If customers wish to have an even sportier driving experience, they now have an option to do so, within the life of the vehicle, rather than committing from the outset with a higher initial purchase price. The car is presented on the configurator with [201bhp], with the option made very clear to customers.”

And, in all fairness to Volkswagen, it’s pretty rare that the average driver will have to push their car to the limit. However, there’s a great deal of backlash from potential buyers who would have to purchase the vehicle and then have to pay even more to unlock its full potential.

However, Volkswagen’s business ventures aren’t all this contentious. They’ve started selling sausages and managed to sell more sausages than cars in 2024.

Zack Wheeler on IL with blood clot: What it means, what to expect

by admin August 17, 2025

  • Stephania BellAug 17, 2025, 05:00 PM ET

    Close

Stephania Bell is a senior writer and injury analyst for ESPN. Stephania is a member of the FSWA Hall of Fame and a certified orthopedic clinical specialist and strength and conditioning specialist. She also appears on “Fantasy Football Now” and the Fantasy Focus Football podcast.

The Philadelphia Phillies placed Zack Wheeler on the 15-day IL on Saturday due to a blood clot in his right arm. Specifically, president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski said Wheeler was diagnosed with a “right upper extremity blood clot,” and few other details were offered. Wheeler had pitched Friday and was limited to five innings, later reporting what Phillies head athletic trainer Paul Buchheit referred to as “heaviness.” Heaviness is a description patients will sometimes use when describing circulatory compromise which could occur as the result of a clot.

Blood clots in athletes may be due to a number of factors. They can occur as the result of direct trauma, resulting in bleeding or swelling that can contribute to clot formation. They can follow a period of immobilization (for instance, post-surgery when a limb is immobilized for a period of time, there can be an increased risk of clot formation). Genetic clotting disorders can be an origin source but that would be rare in an elite athlete. The most likely cause of clot formation in an elite athlete however, particularly in the upper extremity of an athlete who repeatedly subjects the arm to overhead stress, is thoracic outlet syndrome.

Thoracic outlet syndrome occurs when the first rib, or occasionally an extra rib, creates compression over the blood vessels and/or nerves as they exit the neck region under the clavicle (collarbone) and travel through the shoulder to the arm and hand. Overhead athletes — most notably baseball pitchers along with softball players, volleyball players, rowers and swimmers — are most susceptible to clots in the shoulder area due to thoracic outlet syndrome.

Phillies ace Wheeler on 15-day IL with blood clot

Phillies ace Wheeler on 15-day IL with blood clot

Treatment for a clot in an elite athlete depends on the root cause. According to Dr. Jason Lee, chief of vascular surgery at Stanford Health Care, who treats high performance athletes with these conditions (he is not involved in Wheeler’s case), treatment can include any combination of blood thinners (for a time period ranging from one to six months) thrombolysis (a catheter-based procedure to dissolve a clot) and, in the presence of rib compression, a potential rib resection to prevent future episodes. With appropriate treatment, athletes have a very high likelihood of returning to their pre-injury level of performance.

In those cases where surgery is required, the results have been largely successful in allowing throwers to continue their careers. Examples include New York Mets ace Matt Harvey who underwent thoracic outlet surgery in 2016 and returned in 2017. Harvey struggled with other injuries but pitched until 2021, something he might not have been able to do without treatment.

In 2013, Texas Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Young, then a pitcher with the Washington Nationals, underwent thoracic outlet surgery. He signed with the Mariners the following spring and received the American League Comeback Player of the Year award after pitching 165 innings in the 2014 season.

It should be noted that both Harvey and Young underwent surgery for neurogenic thoracic outlet syndrome (the nerve compression type which is more common).

1 Related

In 2012, Mets pitcher Dillon Gee had a slightly different presentation. Gee had blood clots — one in his lung that was addressed medically and one in an artery in his shoulder that was addressed with thrombolysis and he subsequently underwent surgery to repair the damaged artery.

A study published in the Orthopedic Journal of Sports Medicine in 2022 looked specifically at the return rate and performance metrics of 26 MLB pitchers who had undergone rib resection to treat thoracic outlet syndrome. Within the study group, 81 percent returned to play during the study period. Perhaps more importantly, the surgical group showed no difference in post-operative career length or performance when compared to controls.

The Phillies have indicated that Wheeler will undergo further evaluation upon returning to Philadelphia. For the time being, the timeline is uncertain but given the seriousness of the issue, there will be no rushing him back.
