Netflix’s OceanGate documentary to reveal ‘horrifying’ truth behind Titan disaster

by admin May 22, 2025

Netflix just dropped the trailer for its upcoming documentary Titan: The OceanGate Disaster, which is set to shed new light on the doomed deep-sea expedition and the founder of the company, Stockton Rush.

In the early morning of Sunday, June 18, 2023, the Titan submersible began its descent into the depths of the North Atlantic Ocean in a bid to explore the Titanic wreck. Less than two hours later, it lost communication with its mothership – and it never resurfaced.

After days of searching, the vessel was found to have imploded from the pressure of the surrounding waters, killing all five passengers on board: Shahzada Dawood, his son Suleman Dawood, Paul-Henri Nargeolet, Hamish Harding, and Stockton.

Conspiracy theories about what had happened to the sub soon shifted focus to the terrifying conditions on board, but even now there are many questions left unanswered. Filmmaker Mark Monroe is hoping to fill in the gaps with his Netflix documentary.

Netflix documentary to reveal truth behind OceanGate Titan sub disaster

By examining Stockton Rush’s desire to be the next billionaire innovator no matter the cost, Titan: The OceanGate Disaster is set to highlight a terrifying truth: that the incident was completely avoidable.

Speaking to Netflix’s Tudum, Monroe said, “When the Titan submersible went missing, I was horrified and mesmerized by the 24/7 news coverage and global social commentary – just like the rest of the world.”

However, the filmmaker pointed out that “there was no context for what could have happened to those onboard, and the only touchpoint was the Titanic, a story that’s now become a grim fairy tale.”

“The more I dug into this terrible tragedy, the more intrigued I became about how this could have ever happened in the first place, and who exactly was the man who built and then went down with this ship,” Monroe continued.

“We hope that this film can help provide answers to these very questions.”

Titan: The OceanGate Disaster to feature whistleblower testimony

Netflix

What made the OceanGate disaster especially chilling wasn’t just the loss of life, but the details that followed, revealing it was doomed from the start – not that the passengers ever knew.

The Titan sub was controlled by a modified video game controller, had limited emergency systems, and lacked certification from any recognized safety authority.

The interior was cramped, bolted shut from the outside, and constructed from carbon fiber, an experimental material that experts had repeatedly warned could fail under deep-sea pressure.

Each passenger had paid $250,000 for the voyage – a staggering fee for a journey that ended in tragedy. Now, Netflix’s documentary promises to go beyond the headlines for the first time, and bring long-overdue clarity to what really happened.

As per Netflix, “Through exclusive access to whistleblower testimony, pivotal audio recordings, and footage from the company’s early days, the film provides an unprecedented look at the technical challenges, moral dilemmas, and shockingly poor decisions that culminated in the catastrophic expedition.”

OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush called “psychopath”

Netflix

It’s also set to lift the lid on Stockton Rush, with former employees speaking about the working environment. In the new trailer, one talking head says, “He wanted fame. To fuel his ego, fame.”

“I thought Stockton was a borderline psychopath,” states another. “How do you manage a person like that, who owns the company?”

Following the disaster, OceanGate was under deeper scrutiny than ever. The firm ultimately stopped all operations following investigations into the incident. But by this point, it was too late. Stockton and all the passengers died, and there’s no way to reverse what happened.

Monroe went on to say that the new documentary “critiques a segment of society who believe the rules don’t apply to them, and feel well within their rights to break them in the name of something greater.

“The greatest tragedy, and what I hope audiences come to understand, is how this disaster was completely avoidable.”

Long live the tush push! The controversial play’s top moments

BILL SNYDER DOESN’T understand what all the fuss is about.

The legendary Kansas State coach, 85 years old and retired from coaching, can’t remember exactly what the Wildcats called the play because it was just an add-on to a sneak. He didn’t — and still doesn’t — think it was very innovative or creative.

“It was just a natural thing to do,” he told ESPN of the play that would become known as the “tush push” and eventually inspire a raging NFL-wide debate. “We need to create a way in which we could take the shortest distance to get the short distance we needed to go and not get held up, because everybody put all the people over there, so we wanted to compete against no matter how many people you put there. We wanted to be strong enough not to get held up at the line of scrimmage. And we would bring one or two, or on occasion, three backs up right off of the hip of the center, and on the snap of the ball, we would push the center or push the back of the quarterback.”

Snyder said he’s not aware of anyone running the play before his Wildcats teams, who added the play soon after 2013, when pushing became legal in college football. His offensive coordinator, Dana Dimel, took the concept with him to UTEP when he became head coach there in 2018 and experimented with running fake sneaks off of it. (Dimel died in 2023.) Snyder said that sometimes opposing coaches would complain to officials during games but that it never went further than that because the play was within the rules. He said he has never heard from any NFL coaches about it. He’s not sure the Eagles even knew he was running the play years before they were, and he certainly doesn’t believe it was special enough to warrant such attention.

“It was like any other play,” Snyder said. “It was just a play in our repertoire, and that’s what we did on certain occasions, and we didn’t treat it any differently than any other play that we had.”

But that’s not how the league office or a majority of NFL owners look at the play. For cited reasons including health and safety and pace of play, a large group of teams that believes pushing has no place in football attempted to ban the tush push. Those efforts came up short, with 10 teams voting down the efforts to ban it Wednesday.

Although what was likely the first tush push took place in Manhattan, Kansas, Eagles coach and former Colts OC Nick Sirianni has credited Eagles offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland, former Colts head coach and Eagles assistant Frank Reich, and quarterbacks Carson Wentz and Jacoby Brissett for inspiring the play. Though nearly every team in the NFL has run it, the Eagles are the face of the play (or perhaps the tush of it). It was Philadelphia that ran what some believed would be the final such play in its Super Bowl LIX win over the Chiefs — the team’s first touchdown of the game — when Jalen Hurts powered his way into the Caesars Superdome end zone.

When asked in March how he would feel if he ended up being the last coach to call a tush push, Saints coach and former Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore said: “Give credit to Jalen and all those guys for creating a play that someone decided we’re just going to make a rule up to stop it. “

In the end, an impossible-to-stop play remained impossible to stop, even for the league office and a conference room full of owners.

Saquon Barkley to tush push critics: ‘Get better at stopping it’

Philadelphia Eagles star Saquon Barkley discusses the tush push debate before this year’s Met Gala.

IN THE THREE-ISH-YEAR NFL lifespan of the play, 28 of 32 teams have run a variation of it. The only four clubs that have never pushed the player taking the direct snap on a sneak are ones that have smaller or possibly more fragile quarterbacks — Miami, Carolina and Washington, plus New Orleans, which has a dynamic backup in Taysom Hill with his own short-yardage packages.

Not every push sneak is made equal (some feature a very late and likely incidental push from a running back out of the I-formation), and there is no specific stat available to ESPN to filter for the distinct formation that we recognize as the Eagles tush push, where the offensive line is crouched low to the ground and the running backs, tight ends or receivers cluster on each side of the quarterback or behind him in a tripod shape. So ESPN’s push sneak numbers reflect all kinds of sneaks where the player taking the direct snap under center is pushed by another player at any point.

Since 2022, 12 teams have scored touchdowns using the tush push. Philadelphia has run more tush pushes than any other team (124 for 106 first downs and 33 touchdowns, nearly twice the number of push sneaks as the Bills, the team with the second most) and converted 85.5% of them, but Buffalo has a better first-down success rate than the Eagles, and has converted 88.2% (60 of 68 attempts) for first downs.

Though no other team has come close to running the play as much as the Eagles, Philadelphia’s success with the tush push coincided with a leaguewide increase in quarterback sneaks.

The tush push is NOT dead. Long live the tush push. AP Photo/Chris Szagola

In 2016, the first year ESPN started tracking quarterback sneaks, there were 109 sneaks. By 2020, that number had doubled to 234, and by 2023, the year after the Eagles ramped up their own sneak usage and leaned into the tush push, the leaguewide sneak usage plateaued at triple the 2016 number: 341 sneaks.

Even if passed, the proposal wouldn’t have prevented the quarterback sneak, just the pushing aspect, and, as the Eagles said multiple times during their advocacy for this play at league meetings this offseason, their success rate has actually been higher on sneaks without pushing.

According to ESPN data, which has identified push sneaks since the 2022 season, the Eagles have run only six regular non-push sneaks in the last three seasons, compared with 124 push sneaks.

Their success rate on regular sneaks is 83.3%, 2.3 percentage points lower than their success rate when pushing.

Lament the continued legality of the tush push if you must, or choose to celebrate its best qualities: The tush push is innovative; it’s efficient; and it requires more skill and technique than you might think. The tush push is far from dead … long live the tush push?

The first one

— Kalyn Kahler (@kalynkahler) May 14, 2025

Contrary to popular belief, the first Eagles tush push actually happened as early as 2021. Stoutland and his O-line group led by center Jason Kelce had been a fan of the quarterback sneak well before Sirianni arrived as the head coach that January. During previous coach Doug Pederson’s tenure, the Eagles had pushed the boundaries of going for it on fourth down and had used quarterback sneaks with the mobile, 6-foot-5 and 230-plus-pound Wentz to convert many of them.

In 2021, Hurts’ first full season as the Eagles’ starting quarterback, that short-yardage philosophy continued. And in the first quarter of a Week 11 game at home vs. the Saints, tight end Dallas Goedert motioned left across the formation and then came back to the right to settle in just behind Hurts. At the snap, he pushed to help Hurts get the yard needed.

It was the only one of their 18 sneaks that year that featured a planned push. But the next year, the Eagles nearly doubled their sneak total, running 35 sneaks in a year that ended in the Super Bowl, 16 of which were push sneaks. They even ran six sneaks in the Super Bowl loss.

The pushing started in earnest in Week 1 of 2022, with Goedert motioning and pushing. Then Philadelphia tried out different variations of pushers throughout the 2022 season — lining up a running back behind Hurts, and then debuting the now-familiar formation with a player on each of Hurts’ hips (similar to what Snyder’s Kansas State teams did) against Dallas in Week 6.

The one that wasn’t

The Eagles pull off the fake tush push 😂

The Eagles pulled off a fake sneak more than once, and that’s what made the tush push a thing of game-planning beauty. When defenses committed to stopping it (look closely and you can see defensive tackle Jonathan Allen throw himself sideways, almost lying on the ground to stop the offensive line), it left them vulnerable on the outside for a play like this.

The one that made the Bills really mad

Eagles center Jason Kelce on @SportsRadioWIP said that the Bills Jordan Phillips should be fined for this play on Sunday. Phillips jumped offside as Philly was set up to run QB sneak.
Kelce “He purposely tried to hurt Cam Jurgens” Audio in WIP clip below
Thoughts #BillsMafia ?… https://t.co/KZfTr3XL3q pic.twitter.com/JmYIGPG6Pv

— Mike Catalana (@MikeCatalana) November 29, 2023

Another beautiful thing about this play is that even when it doesn’t work, it still works. All the Eagles had to do here was line up in a formation that resembled the tush push and be in a short-yardage situation, and Bills defensive tackle Jordan Phillips got hot to stop it, left early and plowed through Eagles offensive lineman Cam Jurgens. The officials called an encroachment penalty for 5 yards, and Kelce argued that it should have been a personal foul for 15 yards.

At the combine this February, Niners general manager John Lynch, who is a member of the league’s competition committee, talked about how he was afraid that this play would lead to defensive players acting out. “I think back to my playing days, and I think that might have made me do things that I wouldn’t be proud of because if they aren’t going to stop it, I’ll stop it,” Lynch told reporters. “That kind of trickles into players that have a certain mentality [in their] head. I’m just being truthful there. I hope that’s never the case.”

The one where the Chiefs faked a field goal

— Awful Announcing (@awfulannouncing) October 13, 2023

Kansas City has never run a tush push with Patrick Mahomes, but it did run one of the coolest variations of the play on special teams, which is surprising because ever since having Mahomes and a successful offense, the Chiefs’ special teams unit has been pretty conservative. The only time Kansas City has ever tried this play was out of a field goal formation while up 3-0 in the second quarter against Denver in 2023.

Just before the snap, holder Tommy Townsend ran up to the line of scrimmage, and at the same time, tight end Noah Gray and offensive lineman Wanya Morris ran in from the wings. Gray took the direct snap, and Morris and Townsend pushed him forward.

This looked awesome, but the Chiefs ran this on fourth-and-2, and Gray gained just 1 yard.

The one where the Jaguars countered

Nov. 3, 2024
Jaguars show that defense can push too. pic.twitter.com/L85FTQAM4Y

— Kalyn Kahler (@kalynkahler) May 14, 2025

The 2024 Jaguars were not a good team, but they can hang a banner for stopping two Eagles tush pushes on 2-point conversion attempts in Week 9 of last season — and the way they did it was something not many other defenses have tried to do. The argument for the tush push’s place in the NFL is that football is all about innovation as a necessity. Offenses put stress on defenses to find ways to counter their creativity, and that’s how the game grows and stays interesting. The Jaguars found a way to push back on the Eagles — literally — by lining up two linebackers close behind their defensive linemen, particularly the one lined up across from the Eagles center. Stopping the Eagles’ center from getting the low drive is the key to stopping the play, and the Jaguars committed their linebackers to backing up their defensive linemen instead of trying to time the snap and leap over the top to stop Hurts’ momentum, as most other teams did.

At the league meeting in March, multiple head coaches said the tush push shouldn’t be allowed because pushing defensive linemen isn’t allowed on field goal block attempts. What many of those coaches didn’t mention is that pushing defensive players on a regular offensive down is legal and a strategy they could have employed.

“The defense can push as well,” ex-Eagles OC Moore said in March. “As it’s written right now, it’s not like the defense can’t push as well.”

The Jaguars showed on tape what can happen when you counter the Eagles with their own attack. But Falcons coach Raheem Morris said at the March meeting that he wasn’t comfortable doing that with his defensive players.

“I don’t like the play because of what I have to do to try to stop it and for me to have someone push a human into another human, potentially what could happen, I don’t like. … I don’t want to do what I think is necessary to try to stop it.”

The one that was a six-in-a-row ‘s— show’

“Encroachment, defense No. 93. Washington has been advised that at some point the referee can award a score if this type of behavior happens again. For now, it’s a replay of second down.” – Shawn Hochuli, after Fox’s Mike Pereira alluded to this as well.pic.twitter.com/jZcDABVdMv

— Awful Announcing (@awfulannouncing) January 26, 2025

The Eagles love to run this play back-to-back, because they are rarely stopped for no gain, so if they need a yard on third down and get a half a yard, that sets them up for a positive fourth-down opportunity to run it back.

Philadelphia ran a push sneak three times in a row against Arizona in 2022, illustrating that commitment. Then, this past January, they repeated the play six consecutive times after four Commanders defensive penalties nullified second down, took a minute off the game clock, and ultimately prompted referee Shawn Hochuli to issue an official warning to Washington that if it committed another “palpably unfair act,” he would award the Eagles a touchdown.

“I was aware that that may happen if there’s a continued penalty over and over,” Washington coach Dan Quinn said at the March league meeting. “But we’re not going to concede to anything. That’s not how we get down. So that meant, we’re going to go fight for it to the last second of the last play of the last moment.”

Again, the beauty of this play is that, just by threatening it, the Eagles already won. And for the Commanders, taking the consequences of half the distance to the goal to live another play was better than surrendering a touchdown, which they ultimately did on the sixth tush push attempt, after Hochuli’s warning.

It was a series that made the tush push a real target for elimination because of that “pace of play” logic, that this isn’t a watchable television product. One source familiar with the competition committee’s thinking told ESPN the series was a “s— show” that created real momentum for banning the play.

The one where Josh Allen loved the left guard

— Kalyn Kahler (@kalynkahler) May 14, 2025

When Hurts runs this play, he usually goes straight forward, following his center immediately at the snap, and the Eagles’ offensive line gets such a push — or, as they called it, a “knockback” — that Hurts can just ride the wave forward. But the quarterback who has run the second-most tush pushes does it a little differently, and it would ultimately cost him in this case. Instead of moving directly forward at the snap, Bills quarterback Allen took the snap and often waited a split second before stepping to his left and following the space created by Buffalo’s left guard. According to TruMedia, Allen has stepped to his left on 42 of 68 push sneak attempts.

Kansas City sniffed out this tendency ahead of the AFC title game and prepared for it.

“I mean, from our defensive side, he always QB sneaks to our right,” Chiefs safety Nazeeh Johnson told SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Sports Radio. “So every time we see him in QB sneak formation, we know he’s coming to the right side every time. It’s a hundred percent, 10-for-10, he’s going to that side.”

The Bills converted only two of five sneak attempts in the game, including one that drew an unfavorable and much-debated Buffalo spot on fourth down.

The most recent one … but NOT the last one

The Eagles ran only one tush push in their second Super Bowl appearance ATP (After Tush Push) because they simply didn’t need it any more than that against the Chiefs. The Eagles rarely found themselves in late-down, short-yardage situations, and because they got off to a quick lead, they could settle for field goals on fourth down.

Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones laid himself out horizontally in an all-out effort to stop the play at the goal line, similar to the Commanders’ defensive line technique.

Philadelphia’s first touchdown in Super Bowl LIX nearly turned out to be its last tush push. But after Wednesday’s vote, the play lives on. Expect the controversy to endure as well.

Campfire Cabal returns after being shuttered by Embracer

by admin May 22, 2025

THQ Nordic’s studio Campfire Cabal has returned after being shuttered in 2023.

Announcing the news in a blog post, the developer said it had “never shut down” despite closing as part of THQ Nordic’s parent company Embracer’s restructuring efforts.

“We are finally ready to reveal that Campfire Cabal was never shut down,” it said.

“Though we did have to say goodbye to many of our colleagues, the studio survived and a compact team continued the project we had started in 2022.”

This project is the next game in the Expedition series, and by the end of March 2025 it had been “given the green light to scale back up and transition into full production.”

Campfire Cabal also confirmed that it patched Expeditions: Rome in 2024 despite being “radio silent” since the studio’s initial closure.

“If you follow the insider news, you are aware that it’s been a rough couple of years in the game industry,” the developer continued. “Investment dried up, studios shut down, countless developers lost their jobs, and games were cancelled left and right.

“We are extremely grateful that there were people within the group who fought to keep us alive through the turmoil, and that we can now emerge on the other side with renewed vigour.”

THQ Nordic launched Campfire Cabal in September 2022, comprised of veterans from the Expeditions franchise.

By August 2023, Embracer informed THQ Nordic needed to close Campfire Cabal due to restructuring.

“We want to make it clear that our management and the rest of the team have not given up on Campfire Cabal yet, and neither have our friends at THQ Nordic,” the developer wrote on LinkedIn at the time.

“We are still pursuing our options for finding a good resolution to this situation, and THQ Nordic has been very supportive throughout this difficult time.”

It concluded: “This does not mean that it’s over for us as a studio. We’re extremely proud of how our team has come together to keep the campfire burning, and of the commitment and camaraderie everyone has demonstrated since the news broke.”

Avengers: Doomsday set leaker receives first formal warning from Marvel

by admin May 22, 2025

The Marvel fan who snuck onto the set of Avengers: Doomsday and shared a now-viral video has now received a formal warning from the MCU, according to their latest update.

It’s no surprise that details surrounding Avengers: Doomsday are being kept tightly under wraps, although we do know the upcoming MCU movie will bring together every superhero but the kitchen sink for an Endgame-style battle.

What’s more, Robert Downey Jr. will be returning to the franchise, only as Doctor Doom instead of Tony Stark. However, with filming taking place in London, UK, as we speak, one fan managed to break onto the set.

Operating under the handle @theyneversawitcomingg, they shared a video of the set on TikTok, which quickly went viral. When it was removed, they reuploaded it to Instagram, and now Marvel has reportedly stepped in.

Avengers: Doomsday leaker receives “first formal threat”

On Wednesday (May 21), the leaker added an Instagram Story to their account, stating, “Received my first ‘formal threat’. I might be cooked.” Marvel has yet to publicly comment on the situation, although it wouldn’t be surprising if the studio had taken action.

In the bio, they also wrote, “Video got removed, posting on Instagram.” It’s received hundreds of comments, with fellow fans warning them to be cautious.

“If it’s real, be careful, they can sue you and you know it,” said one, while another wrote, “Bro is getting sued to pieces.”

A third added, “Yeah Kevin fiege is definitely going to come find you,” and a fourth chimed in, “Yeah you’re cooked buddy.”

As well as the video, which showed a bar situated in the Marvel location of Madripoor, the user shared what appeared to be a blueprint of the home of Annie Reynolds – the mother of Thunderbolts’ Bob Reynolds. However, this appears to have been removed.

Although many of the comments are tongue-in-cheek, leaking footage from a Marvel set can carry serious legal consequences. Disney and Marvel Studios are notoriously protective of their intellectual property, and leaking unreleased content could land a person in court.

Depending on how the footage was obtained, the individual could face criminal trespassing charges, copyright infringement claims, or even civil suits over the disclosure of confidential material.

This wouldn’t be the first time Marvel has pursued leakers. In 2023, the studio filed a DMCA subpoena against Reddit to uncover the identity of users who leaked dialogue from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania ahead of release.

In a similar incident, The Expendables 3 was leaked online weeks before its debut, prompting Lionsgate to sue the anonymous uploaders for damages, claiming it impacted the movie’s box office performance. Whether Marvel or Disney will escalate this new case beyond a warning remains to be seen.

Boston Legacy to play 1st NWSL season at Gillette Stadium

by admin May 22, 2025

Jeff Kassouf covers women’s soccer for ESPN, focusing on the USWNT and NWSL. In 2009, he founded The Equalizer, a women’s soccer news outlet, and he previously won a Sports Emmy at NBC Sports and Olympics.

Boston Legacy FC, a 2026 NWSL expansion franchise, will play its entire first season of home games at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, due to delays with the redevelopment of its proposed home stadium.

“With the 2026 NWSL season beginning in 10 months, Boston Legacy FC will play its inaugural season at Gillette Stadium before the club moves into its permanent home at White Stadium in 2027,” a Boston Legacy spokesperson told ESPN in a statement on Wednesday.

“White Stadium construction is well underway, but construction will not be finished by March of 2026,” the statement continued.

Gillette Stadium is the longtime home of MLS’ New England Revolution and the NFL’s New England Patriots. Gillette Stadium will also host seven FIFA Men’s World Cup games next summer. The NWSL plans to play games during next year’s World Cup, commissioner Jessica Berman previously told ESPN.

Boston Legacy FC’s ownership group is renovating the dilapidated White Stadium in Boston’s Franklin Park as part of a unique — and controversial — public-private partnership with Boston Public Schools.

White Stadium was originally supposed to re-open by March 2026, when the NWSL typically begins its regular season, but it has faced several setbacks, including an ongoing lawsuit from a local conservancy group to stop the project. Demolition of the old structures began earlier this year.

The Boston Globe reported on Wednesday that “the soonest” the field at White Stadium will be complete is “the middle of next summer,” and that Boston Legacy FC decided against making a midseason venue switch in its inaugural campaign.

The shift to playing at Gillette Stadium, a 65,000-seat venue with artificial turf that is primarily utilized for American football, is another setback for the Boston franchise originally approved as an NWSL expansion team in early 2023.

Earlier this year, the group announced it was changing its name to Boston Legacy FC. The team originally announced itself as “BOS Nation FC” last October. The name, and the accompanying marketing campaign titled “Too Many Balls,” was widely criticized.

Boston was granted an NWSL expansion team contingent upon the stadium renovation coming to fruition, sources previously told ESPN.

“Expansion is our opportunity to shape the future of the league and to set up not only the contractual requirements for those clubs, but also the league’s oversight of ensuring that particular deadlines are met,” Berman said about Boston in March when asked if White Stadium would be ready. “We have been and are continuing to work very closely and in partnership with the ownership group in Boston.”

Berman and Boston Mayor Michelle Wu have lauded the partnership between the city and the NWSL team as a model for other cities to follow.

The price of the project has nearly doubled from its original estimate, to over $200 million. Boston Legacy, led by principal owner Jennifer Epstein — whose family are longtime co-owners of the NBA’s Boston Celtics, which is in the process of being sold — is responsible for half the renovations and costs.

Boston Public Schools athletics will get priority in scheduling events at the stadium. Boston Legacy FC will be allowed to use the stadium for up to 20 games per year, with certain restrictions around the frequency of games.

Gillette Stadium is owned by the Kraft Group, which owns the Revolution and the Patriots.

Josh Kraft, the son of Kraft Group CEO and chairman Robert Kraft, is running for mayor of Boston against Wu. The White Stadium project has been a source of public contention between Josh Kraft and Wu.

The Krafts are attempting to build their own soccer stadium in Everett, just across the river from Boston’s Charlestown neighborhood.

A spokesperson for Kraft Sports and Entertainment issued the following statement to ESPN:

“Gillette Stadium is pleased to welcome Boston Legacy FC for its inaugural season in 2026. After being approached by the club, Gillette Stadium was proud to support the team and provide a world-class venue for Boston Legacy FC and its fans in order to promote the advancement of women’s professional soccer in New England.

“Gillette Stadium and the New England Revolution look forward to sharing the field with Boston Legacy FC as we add to our long history of hosting premier soccer events.”

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered tops April sales, becoming 2025’s third-biggest selling game | US Monthly Charts

by admin May 22, 2025

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered topped Circana’s charts for US game sales in April 2025 – becoming the third best-selling game of the year to date – while video game spending across games, hardware, and accessories all slipped a little year-on-year, by 2%, 8%, and 2%, respectively.

As noted by analysts Circana, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion: Remastered sold more units in April 2025 than The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion achieved across its first 15 months in market combined. It has also generated more “full game dollar sales” than the original’s first 14 months combined.

As detailed by Circana’s executive director, Mat Piscatella, Forza Horizon 5 was the second-best-selling game after its PS5 debut, whilst Indiana Jones and the Great Circle – which also jumped to PS5 this month – came in in third position. Four of the top five – and five of the top seven – best-selling PlayStation games were published by Microsoft.

In news unlikely to surprise you, Call of Duty HQ led all titles when it comes to monthly active users, but Schedule 1 boasted the biggest active users in April on Steam. Monopoly Go!, Royal Match, and Candy Crush Saga were the biggest games in terms of consumer spending in April.

Hardware sales in April fell to $186 million – that’s down 8% year-on-year, and the “lowest monthly hardware dollar sales total reached in the US market since July 2020. While both PS5 and Switch hardware sales were down – the latter by a considerable 37% – Xbox bucked the trend by seeing Xbox Series sales increase by 8%. Accessory spending was down 2% YoY.

“While April 2025 showed a slight decline in the U.S. mobile games market compared to March, several top games continued to perform strongly,” said Lexi Wei of Sensor Tower.

“Gossip Harbor: Merge & Story experienced the most significant ranking improvement this month, climbing five spots to enter the top ten at #9. This surge was driven by a 9.8% increase in consumer spending, largely attributed to the Easter Jamboree event launched on April 10, which introduced new decorative content and gameplay elements.”

Is RoadCraft on PS4?

Wondering if RoadCraft is available on PS4? Let’s find out.

|

Published: May 22, 2025 12:14 am

RoadCraft is the latest game to gain traction in the gaming community. The simulation game tasks you with removing debris and rebuilding areas that have been heavily damaged due to natural disasters.

The game gives you access to tons of heavy-duty machinery and even has a multiplayer function, which means that you can rebuild and maintain roads and bridges with your friends. Here’s whether RoadCraft is available on the PS4.

RoadCraft has tons of machinery for you to operate. Image via Saber Interactive

Can you play RoadCraft on PS4?

No, RoadCraft is not available on the PS4. Developers Saber Interactive, known for the popular Mudrunner and Snowrunner games, have specifically designed the game for ninth-generation consoles, while the PS4 is an eighth-generation console.

Another potential reason for RoadCraft not being available on the PS4 is its hardware limitations. Many modern games that run on both the PS4 and PS5 are often locked at 30 FPS on the former, so rather than giving players a low-framerate experience, it seems that Saber Interactive have eliminated the possibility altogether.

Finally, both the PS4 and PS4 Pro come with internal HDD, and not SSD, which is included in both the minimum and recommended system requirements for RoadCraft, according to Steam.

Can you play RoadCraft on Xbox One?

No, you can’t play RoadCraft on the Xbox One because it’s also an eighth-generation console like the PS4. Additionally, even though the Xbox One is more powerful than the PS4 Pro, their ninth-generation counterparts are better equipped for the game’s features.

Is RoadCraft on Xbox Game Pass?

No, RoadCraft is currently not available on Xbox Game Pass as well as the Xbox App and Microsoft Store for PC. However, there’s always hope for it to be added at a later date, as new games are added to the Xbox Game Pass catalogue every month.

RoadCraft platforms

You can play RoadCraft on the PS5, Xbox Series S|X, and Windows PC via Steam and the Epic Games launcher. The game is priced at $39.99 for the Standard Edition and $49.99 for the Rebuild Edition.

New Game of the Week: Rooftops & Alleys brings back the joy of Mirror’s Edge-style parkour

by admin May 22, 2025

Parkour-focused games like Mirror’s Edge and Free Running have all but vanished – but solo indie developer Michel Losch wants to bring them back. His upcoming title, Rooftops & Alleys, aims to revive the genre, handing players full control to flow through urban landscapes with style and freedom.

Parkour once had a real moment in pop culture. From Jason Bourne and James Bond thrilling moviegoers with high-octane on-foot pursuits, to the likes of Assassin’s Creed and Mirror’s Edge bringing the experience to the comfort of your couch, it was everywhere. In recent years though, it’s been pushed to the background. Instead of being the core of the experience, it’s often tacked on, buried in larger creations.

On the gaming front, Assassin’s Creed or Dying Light come to mind, as games where movement is important, but it’s mostly automated: just hold a direction and tap a button. It’s been a long time since players had real agency – and consequences – for how they move.

Finally bringing it back into the spotlight, Michel Losch is hoping to reinvigorate that sense of joy when flowing through construction yards and modern metropolises, tricking your way from one surface to the next as quickly as possible. Here’s how Rooftops & Alleys is restoring the fun.

Article continues after ad

What is Rooftops & Alleys?

Parkour is ostensibly about getting from Point A to Point B in as little time as possible. That could mean vaulting over a ledge, jumping across a gap, or sliding down a slanted surface to get there. Meanwhile, freerunning is about adding some flair to the movement. Flipping, spinning, and generally tricking along a path to really show off.

Rooftops & Alleys mixes them both. You’ll be sprinting through maps in the most stylish ways possible for extra points in a bid to outclass your friends. It’s not just about the destination, but the fun of the journey.

Some challenges are on a timer, demanding you reach an area as quickly as possible, passing through all the right checkpoints along the way. An on-foot race with only your technical skill standing in the way of a gold medal.

Article continues after ad

Others will ask for high scores on tricky lines, forcing you and your crew to think outside the box on how you’re going to approach a certain obstacle. Is flipping over it the coolest way to make it past? Or would latching onto it and then flipping off give you a bigger multiplier? Much like how you mastered levels in Tony Hawk’s games, you’ll need to put some work in to master the stages here as well.

Article continues after ad

There’s even a tag mode that’s non-stop fun as you chase and evade friends with all the dazzling tricks you’ve learned thus far.

ML Media / Radical TheoryThe world is your freerunning oyster in Rooftops & Alleys.

What the devs say about it

What were your inspirations?

“As far as the idea goes, I can’t really say I’ve been practicing parkour professionally! But I always found it cool whenever I saw it in movies. Mostly, I took a lot of inspiration from games like Mirror’s Edge, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, Skate, as well as Freerunning on PS2. So many games that fell into it.

“I like freedom, and I like creative expression in games. I always like getting into a flow state with a game. I was missing something where I could just jump and be able to frontflip, trick, I felt something so satisfying in that. I always wanted to make something like that.

“I have inhaled parkour for the last two years. Just tried to fill my brain with reference footage basically.

“I’ve never talked about this, but I tried to take an approach where I looked at other sports too. I found out about Death Diving, which has nothing to do with parkour. I wanted to add more tricks, so I’ve added some from the sport of Death Diving, diving in general, seeing how I can merge something in what I call a parkour and freerunning game.”

Article continues after ad

How realistic is it?

“I never forgot Jet Set Radio Future. There’s a choice of how realistic vs how arcadey, usually people tend to go a bit more realistic. I just wanted something really snappy and responsive, which I knew from the get-go I wouldn’t be able to make this fully momentum or physics-based. I took heavy inspiration from Jet Set and more arcadey games for that reason.”

Article continues after ad

ML Media / Radical TheoryWhile not veering completely into the unreal, Rooftops & Alleys harkens back to an old-school arcade game feel.

“Whether you practice parkour or you see it on TV, you just want to do cool stuff. I tried to maintain a somewhat realistic fall distance. I’m trying to get the measurements sort of right.”

Article continues after ad

What do people want from a Parkour game?

“Usually, the shortcomings are the lack of control. I think what people need to understand, I often got comments like ‘this is what Assassin’s Creed should be,’ it proved to me there was an urge for more control and expression.

“But also, I think I have an easier time giving players more control because I do not have to hand them a gun or have them drive a car. I have more buttons to play with. There have been requests to add a grappling hook, but I had to stay strong.”

Article continues after ad

What’s on the horizon?

“Photo Mode is coming. There are some things I’ve teased. There’s definitely more to it than meets the eye. There are some very fun and goofy achievements that people may not see coming. I’ve also put references to some community members in the 1.0 build.

Article continues after ad

“Thus far [through Early Access] I’ve had 30 updates. I plan to continue doing that. I’m already working on post-launch content. I don’t want to spoil it, but there are some really cool and exciting things. Some of which people have been asking for, but some that will come out of nowhere. I’m trying to keep it fresh.”

Article continues after ad

Rooftops & Alleys is set to launch in full across PS5, Xbox Series X | S, and PC (through Steam) on June 17, 2025.
