Bitcoin Set To Benefit From Strategy’s Potential S&P 500 Inclusion, Analyst Predicts

by admin September 2, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

Bitcoin (BTC) is likely to benefit from the inclusion of Strategy (MSTR) – formerly MicroStrategy – in the S&P 500 Index following one of its strongest quarterly results. To recall, Strategy is the world’s leading Bitcoin treasury firm, holding more than three percent of BTC’s total supply.

Strategy’s Inclusion In S&P 500 Bullish For Bitcoin

In an X post published earlier today, seasoned crypto analyst Lark Davis predicted that Strategy could join the S&P 500 Index as early as this Friday. The firm’s addition to the benchmark index could unlock billions in inflows for both Strategy and Bitcoin.

According to CoinGecko data, Strategy currently holds 632,457 BTC on its balance sheet, valued at roughly $69 billion at current prices. The company’s total acquisition cost stands slightly above $46.5 billion.

Strategy ranks first among all publicly-listed companies with Bitcoin treasury | Source: Coingecko

For the uninitiated, the S&P 500 Index is a stock market index that tracks the performance of 500 of the largest publicly traded companies in the US, representing about 80% of total US market value. It is widely considered a benchmark for the overall health of the US economy and stock market.

To qualify for inclusion, companies must meet several requirements, including being US-based, having at least 12 months of trading history on a major US exchange, a market cap exceeding $22.7 billion, and at least 50% of shares publicly held.

Noted Wall Street analyst, Josh Man took to X, saying Strategy is already a part of the S&P 500 Index. He added that all that remains is an official announcement.

Strategy Reports Impressive Q2 2025 Results

Strategy delivered stellar Q2 2025 results despite a shaky macroeconomic backdrop. The company reported $14 billion in operating income, $10 billion in net income, and $114.5 million in total revenue during the quarter.

One of the key drivers was the company’s adoption of new fair-value accounting standards in January 2025. These accounting standards allow the company to recognize unrealized gains on its BTC holdings, boosting profitability as Bitcoin hit a new all-time high (ATH) of $124,128 on August 14.

That said, Strategy’s stock MSTR has been in a bit of a downturn of late. The stock is down more than 15% over the past month – trading at $334.75 in the after hours of August 29.

If Strategy is added to the S&P 500 Index, it would join Coinbase and Jack Dorsey’s Block as only the third major crypto-related firm in the coveted benchmark. At press time, BTC trades at $108,651, down 0.2% over the past 24 hours.

WLFI Token Falls on Debut as Governance Weighs Liquidity Fee Buyback Plan

by admin September 2, 2025

In brief

  • The buyback plan would redirect 100% of fees from protocol-owned liquidity pools across Ethereum, BSC, and Solana.
  • Proponents claim that linking fees to token burns enhances scarcity and boosts long-term value for holders.
  • Analysts caution the effect may be limited by upcoming unlocks and WLFI’s high valuation.

Less than a day through its Labor Day debut, World Liberty Financial’s WLFI token fell sharply as trading volume swelled nearly tenfold.

The governance token dropped from a high of $0.33 to near $0.21 in late Monday trading before settling at around $0.245, with trading volume increasing from approximately $259 million at launch to $2.5 billion, according to data from CoinGecko.

WLFI is down approximately 14% from its debut price of $0.28, but remains significantly higher for early whitelisted buyers who acquired tokens at around $0.015 each.

In light of recent developments, a governance proposal has appeared, calling for all liquidity fees from the project’s pools to be directed toward buybacks and permanent burns.

Posted on the project’s governance forum, the proposal aims to redirect all fees from protocol-owned liquidity on Ethereum, BSC, and Solana into open-market WLFI purchases, which are then sent to a burn address, thereby permanently reducing the supply.

If approved, WLFI would collect fees from its own liquidity positions on Ethereum, BSC, and Solana, use them to buy tokens back on the market, and send the purchased tokens to a burn address.

The proposal describes this as a measure for “direct supply reduction” that would effectively increase “relative weight for committed long-term holders.” It also links the mechanism to network activity, stating that “more usage = more fees = more WLFI burned.”

However, analysts say the effect may be less decisive when weighed against WLFI’s broader token economics.

“While the buyback-and-burn model can provide structural support for the token price, its overall impact may be limited given WLFI’s large implied valuation and relatively low circulating supply,” Min Jung, senior analyst at quantitative trading firm Presto, told Decrypt.

Jung notes that supply pressures may also outweigh the proposal’s impact.

“The scale of upcoming unlocks is likely to exceed the buyback amount, and with few live products currently driving organic demand, the long-term effect on price stability remains uncertain,” Jung explained.

WLFI’s approach mirrors shareholder-return tactics more common in mature firms than in growth-stage ventures, Jung said.

“In traditional markets, companies with high growth typically reinvest profits rather than prioritizing buybacks or dividends,” he explained. “Allocating all liquidity fees exclusively to burns could limit WLFI’s flexibility to fund product development, ecosystem incentives, or strategic investments.”

But given the scale of WLFI’s fundraising, the treasury may still be “sufficient to support future growth,” he added.

Echoing that sentiment, Ryan Yoon, senior analyst at Tiger Research, told Decrypt the buyback-and-burn mechanism “should theoretically support token value through supply reduction.”

WLFI currently lacks “operational services beyond basic liquidity provision,” which could result in minimal fee generation, Yoon said.

Positioned as a decentralized finance project, World Liberty Financial was designed as a lending and borrowing service, although its core platform has yet to be launched.

The Trump-backed venture has already rolled out a dollar-pegged stablecoin, USD1, which currently ranks as the sixth-largest by market capitalization, according to CoinGecko data.

The project was co-founded by nine individuals, including U.S. President Donald Trump, his three sons, and U.S. special envoy to the Middle East Steven Witkoff, according to its website.

In July, Trump disclosed he had earned a windfall of $57.3 million from the venture. Along with his meme coin deals and an exclusive dinner in April, the president’s links to crypto have stirred controversy in Washington, with some lawmakers claiming possible conflicts of interest.

Pyth Network (PYTH) price targets $0.30 after 100% rally as whales step in

PYTH price risks wiping out recent gains as profit taking mounts

by admin September 2, 2025

Pyth Network price is down more than 11% in the past 24 hours as its token hovers around $0.16, and the market cap dips below $1 billion.

Summary

  • Pyth Network price has dropped 11% in the past 24 hours.
  • The PYTH token jumped more than 100% to a six-month high of $0.25 but is down at $0.16

The Pyth Network (PYTH) price squeeze last week stood out among top gainers as the cryptocurrency market reacted to the Department of Commerce’s move to put U.S. economic data onchain.

However, as other altcoins slip amid broader crypto pullback, PYTH is trending as one of the big losers with a double digit dump in the past 24 hours. The token has experienced a notable dip in daily volume though, with this metric down 25% as price drops from highs of $0.25 on Aug. 29 to about $0.16 on Sept. 1.

Pyth’s market cap has also dropped below $1 billion, currently around $935 million.

PYTH price decline

While the U.S. government’s decision to tap into Pyth Network and Chainlink to distribute macroeconomic data on blockchain helped bulls explode, traders are taking profits after PYTH reached its highest price in six months.

The decline mirrors the retreat for Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), with BTC price dipping below a key psychological level to hit lows of $107,300.

Pyth Network’s declines have cut weekly gains to about 41%, while the steady sell-off threatens to wipe the upside seen when price went vertical from lows of $0.11 on Aug. 28.

Pyth Network price chart. Source: crypto.news

What next for PYTH price?

Although bulls can still target the $0.30 level they coveted as price jumped by more than 100%, analysts say the broader market’s downturn could extend into new lows in September.

In a market outlook report on Monday, analysts at Bitfinex noted altcoins have stagnated after a recent uptick, and a dip into a cyclical floor is likely before prices explode again in the fourth quarter.

“What is emerging is an Altcoin market cap that is stagnating, with any movement in alts signalling capital rotation rather than expansion. With ETF inflows seasonally muted and speculative excess flushed, September could mark the cyclical low point before structural drivers reassert for a Q4 recovery,” Bitifinex noted.

PYTH traded at an all-time peak of $1.20 in March, 2024.

Tokenized Gold Market Tops $2.5B Led By Tether, Paxos Tokens

by admin September 2, 2025

As the price of gold is on the cusp of breaking its April peak, the market size of crypto tokens backed by the precious metal has already surged to fresh all-time highs.

The overall market capitalization of tokenized gold topped $2.57 billion, CoinGecko data shows, as the two leading offerings, Tether’s XAUT and Paxos’ PAXG tokens, saw sizable inflows recently. Both tokens’s are designed to track the price of gold and are backed by physical bars held in vaults.

XAUT (XAUT), issued by the firm that’s behind the USDT stablecoin, saw a $437 million jump in its supply to a record $1.3 billion, per CoinGecko. Tether’s Treasury minted 129,000 tokens in early August on the Ethereum network, blockchain data by Etherscan shows.

PAXG (PAXG), the gold-backed token of U.S.-based stablecoin firm Paxos, swelled to a record market size of $983 million, DefiLlama data shows. That’s been fueled by $141.5 million net inflows into the token since June.

PAXG inflows per month (DefiLlama)

Gold currently traded at around $3,470, just shy of the April 22 peak hit amidst the tariff tantrum.

The precious metal, which is widely considered as a safe haven asset during times of uncertainty, has been resurging lately, driven by a steepening U.S. Treasury yield curve.

Discord Communities Targeted by Scammers Posing as Trusted Friends

Discord Communities Targeted by Scammers Posing as Trusted Friends

by admin September 1, 2025

Last month, crypto user and NFT artist Princess Hypio told her followers she lost $170,000 in crypto and non-fungible tokens after a scammer convinced her to play a game with them on Steam.

While she was “mindlessly” playing with the scammer, they were secretly stealing her funds and hacking her Discord. The same tactic was used on three of her other friends, she wrote in a post on Aug. 21 on X.

Source: Princess Hypio

It turns out, the tactic has been around for a while and is known by some as the “try my game” scam, which users have been reporting for years in different forms.

Speaking to Cointelegraph, Kraken’s chief security officer, Nick Percoco, said these methods have become an increasingly popular attack method

“Try my game” hack: How it works

The crypto version of the scam involves a hacker joining a Discord server or group, lying in wait, learning about how users interact with each other and later using that information to gain trust.

The hacker then asks users if they own crypto or NFTs, often feigning interest to ask questions and gauge what digital assets they might own. In Princess Hypio’s case, they had a Milady NFT, which resulted in her being targeted.

After identifying a target with crypto, the hacker invites victims to play a game, sending a link to a server with Trojan malware that provides access to user devices, which allows them to steal personal information and drain any connected wallets.

In Princess Hypio’s case, the ploy involved convincing her to download a game on Steam by offering to buy it for her. The game itself was safe, but the server on which the game was being hosted was malicious.

She lost $170,000 from the attack, she said.

It comes only days after Discord released its deceptive practices policy explainer, warning that promoting or carrying out financial scams on the social platform violates the terms of use.

“These scams do not exploit code; they exploit trust. Attackers impersonate friends and pressure people into taking actions they normally would not take,” said Percoco.

“The biggest vulnerability in crypto is not code, it is trust. Scammers exploit community spirit and curiosity to take advantage of good intentions.”

Attackers embed themselves in communities, learn the culture, mimic trusted friends, and then strike, he said.

Scammer tactic moving past crypto

In February, a user under the handle RaeTheRaven posted to the Malwarebytes forum that they had fallen prey to the “infamous scam” after someone they thought was a friend sent a link. A Reddit forum that started in July also warned of scams targeting gamers.

Another person reported being hit with the scam back in July, which resulted in a ransomware demand. Source: Malwarebytes

Percoco told Cointelegraph that while the crypto industry tends to see these scams first, the tactic spreads across sectors.

He said the best way to avoid being snared is to have a “healthy skepticism,” confirm identities through another channel, avoid running unknown software, and remember that “doing nothing is safer than taking a risky step.”

“If something feels rushed, generous, or too good to be true, it almost always is. Do not trust, verify.”

Fake recruitment campaigns even worse

However, Percoco also said that while the Discord scams are on the rise, a more widespread trend in crypto currently involves fake recruiters.

Related: North Korean hackers target crypto devs with fake recruitment tests

In a recent June case, a North Korea-aligned threat actor targeted job seekers in the crypto industry with malware designed to steal passwords for crypto wallets and password managers.

“Discord impersonation is rising quickly, but the most widespread trend we are tracking today is fake recruitment campaigns where victims are lured with job offers and tricked into clicking phishing links,” Percoco said.

Trump’s WLFI Token Starts Trading With $5.4 Billion Market Value

by admin September 1, 2025

Trump’s World Liberty Financial token, called WLFI, started trading today, Sept 1, and quickly became one of the trending coins in the market.

The token runs on the Ethereum network and made its debut on Labor Day. Within just hours of trading, the token jumped into the top ranks.

According to data from CoinMarketCap, WLFI had a market value of $5.38 billion, which puts it among the 27 largest digital currencies. Currently, it’s trading for $0.2184.

Wild First Day of Trading

The token opened at about $0.265 and later moved closer to $0.3115. Early investors who bought at the first sale price of $0.015 made more than 1,700% profit in a single day.

This kind of quick gain is unusual, even when the market is volatile. Trading began on some of the major exchanges like Binance, Bybit, OKX, and Gate, and they have helped spread the token fast across the globe.Meanwhile, there was a bit of excitement in the early market opening.

According to data from CoinGlass, more than $12 million in bets were wiped out in just a few hours. Around $8.5 million in long trades and $3.8 million in short trades were liquidated.Even Bitcoin saw fewer liquidations during the same time.

Trump Sons Celebrates the Launch

Members of the Trump family were quick to celebrate. In a post on X, Donald Trump Jr. said, “Big day—World Liberty Financial just launched the WLFI token. This isn’t some meme coin, it’s the governance backbone of a real ecosystem changing how money moves.”

His brother Eric Trump also said on X, “We’re setting a new standard for financial freedom; built on trust, speed, and U.S. values. This is a huge moment for the future of money!”

We are now live!!!! Our team has always believed in American strength and leadership. With today’s @WorldLibertyFi’s $WLFI 🦅 token launch, we’re setting a new standard for financial freedom; built on trust, speed, and U.S. values. This is a huge moment for the future of money! pic.twitter.com/40yUOZkG5Q

— Eric Trump (@EricTrump) September 1, 2025

The launch followed a vote in July by WLFI holders, who decided to make the coin transferable. Before this change, the token was only used for voting on project rules. World Liberty raised $550 million from sales earlier this year, and investors can now sell up to 20% of their holdings, according to World Liberty Financial.

Criticized Yet Profitable

The company brands itself as a decentralized finance project, meaning it plans to let users borrow and lend crypto without banks or middlemen.

The project has not yet launched those services, but it already released a stablecoin called USD1, which is now the sixth largest stablecoin by market size. The company was co-founded by Donald Trump, his three sons, and U.S. envoy Steven Witkoff.

Trump said in July that he personally made $57.3 million from the project. However, Reuters reported that the Trump family has earned about $500 million overall since the launch.

Still, Democratic lawmakers and ethics experts have raised concerns over conflicts of interest because Trump is also involved in setting rules for the crypto industry. The White House has said his assets are managed by his children in a trust and that there are no conflicts.

‘Never Sell’ Bitcoin Bulls Hypying Up ‘Uptober.’ Are Stats on Their Side?

by admin September 1, 2025

Some cryptocurrency bulls are seemingly determined not to sell their holdings before “Uptober.”

They remain optimistic about Bitcoin’s Q4 performance, urging investors not to overcomplicate seasonality.

Does “Uptober” live up to its name?

The term “Uptober,” which is obviously a mix of “up” and “October,” was initially popularized on cryptocurrency Twitter.

Based on historical data, October has been one of the most successful months for Bitcoin due to the consistency of positive returns.

Does the data back up the enthusiasm of Bitcoin bulls? Absolutely. Since 2013, there were only two months when Bitcoin ended October in the red (2014 and 2018). Back in 2014, the cryptocurrency was down 13% amid a brutal bear market triggered by the collapse of the Mt. Gox exchange and regulatory scrutiny. In October 2018, Bitcoin was down 3%, remaining in the middle of another market capitulation that came after the ICO-driven euphoria of late 2017.

The rest of the months were firmly in the green. In 2013, for instance, Bitcoin rallied by as much as 61% in October when the cryptocurrency began attracting more mainstream interest.

In 2021, Bitcoin also surged by a whopping 40% in October due to the hype surrounding the approval of the first futures-based BTC ETFs in the US. These products came years before spot ETFs.

BNB Slips Below $860 as Resistance Holds and Traders Brace for U.S. Jobs Data

by admin September 1, 2025

The price of BNB saw sharp intraday swings over the past 24-hour period as it continued to drop from an all-time high of $900 seen late last month.

Over a 24-hour window, the asset traded between $849.88 and $868.76, a 2% move that began with bullish momentum but ended with signs of fatigue near resistance.

The volatility follows filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission by REX Shares late last month, along with the rise of BNB-focused treasury firms. The latest, B Strategy, aims to hold up to $1 billion worth of BNB with backing from the investment firm led by Binance co-founders Changpeng Zhao and Yi He.

While BNB failed to hold on to its gains from earlier, underlying network activity surged. Daily active wallet addresses on BNB Chain more than doubled, climbing to near 2.5 million according to DeFiLlama data.

Yet, transaction volumes have been dropping steadily since late June, data from the same source shows. BNB’s price drop also comes ahead of key economic data from the U.S. this week, including surveys of manufacturing and services and August payroll figures.

Jobs data could influence the odds of the Federal Reserve cutting interest rates this month. As it stands, the CME’s FedWatch tool weighs a near 90% chance of a 25 bps cut, while Polymarket traders put the odds at 82%.

Technical Analysis Overview

BNB entered the session with a surge from $860.30 to $868.08, but the rally quickly lost steam. Heavy selling pressure emerged around the $867–$868 level, a zone that has now established itself as a key resistance ceiling, according to CoinDesk Research’s technical analysis model.

Volume surged during this attempt, peaking at 72,000 tokens, well above the average of 54,000, indicating a high level of participation during the failed breakout.

After the rejection, BNB retraced toward the $850–$855 range, where buying interest emerged. This was most visible as the token dipped to $851.40, triggering a volume spike. This response pointed to solid demand at these lower levels.

XRP Holds $2.80 Support as Whales Accumulate Nearly $1B: Could this Be Start to $4?

by admin September 1, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

XRP has managed to hold its $2.80 support despite a sharp 4% drop over the past 24 hours, falling from $2.85 to $2.75 in the Aug. 31–Sept. 1 trading session.

The sell-off was fueled by institutional liquidations totaling $1.9 billion since July, but whale investors took the opposite stance, scooping up 340 million XRP worth nearly $962 million during the dip.

This accumulation suggests that large holders view current prices as a strategic entry point, even as short-term traders exit positions. Data also shows $268 million in XRP leaving exchanges, reinforcing the view that long-term investors are tightening supply in anticipation of future gains.

Technical Setup Points XRP Toward $4

From a technical perspective, XRP’s immediate support lies between $2.75–$2.77, with resistance seen at $2.80–$2.87. Analysts note that a close above $2.87 could open the path toward $3.30, a critical breakout zone that could trigger further momentum.

The XRP Price moving sideways on the daily chart. Source: XRPUSD on Tradingview

Momentum indicators back the bullish case. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) has dipped into oversold territory, while MACD compression hints at a potential bullish crossover.

On the charts, XRP is consolidating inside a symmetrical triangle pattern, similar to formations that preceded explosive rallies in 2017. Liquidity maps show clusters of activity extending to $4.00, indicating possible targets if the breakout materializes.

Whales Diverge From Institutional Selling

The contrasting behavior between whales and institutions is shaping market dynamics. While institutions have offloaded nearly $2 billion in XRP since July, whale absorption of 340 million tokens suggests confidence in the token’s longer-term trajectory.

Funding rates have also flipped positive, and open interest in XRP derivatives now stands above $8 billion, signaling that traders are positioning for upward moves. If buying pressure holds and September’s seasonal weakness is overcome, XRP could mount a recovery rally toward the $4 region.

Bottom Line

XRP’s ability to defend $2.80, supported by nearly $1 billion in whale accumulation, strengthens the case for a potential breakout. If resistance levels fall, a run toward $4 may be closer than many expect, though September volatility and regulatory headwinds remain key risks.

Trump-Backed World Liberty Ethereum Token Debut: Here’s How It Played Out

by admin September 1, 2025

In brief

  • President Trump-backed World Liberty Financial debuted its Ethereum token for trading on Monday, and it’s already one of the most valuable coins by market cap.
  • At $7.6 billion, WLFI is the 30th largest token by market cap on CoinGecko.
  • Some early buyers of the token could today realize a gain of more than 1,700%.

The President Trump-backed DeFi project World Liberty Financial unlocked its Ethereum token for trading today, debuting as already one of the largest cryptocurrencies by market capitalization.

Just over two hours after the token became tradable, CoinGecko placed WLFI as the 30th largest cryptocurrency at an $7.6 billion market cap and $26.7 billion fully diluted valuation. The numbers on CoinMarketCap are slightly different, with the index currently placing WLFI as the 24th largest while having a $6.48 billion market cap and a $26.28 billion fully diluted valuation.

The WLFI token is currently trading for around $0.265, already marking a significant return for early whitelisted buyers of the token who initially purchased the coin at a price of $0.015 per token. That’s a gain of more than 1,700%.

Nevertheless, over $8.51 million worth of long positions on WLFI have been liquidated so far today, according to CoinGlass, as well as $3.85 million worth of shorts—totalling $12.36 million in liquidations over its slightly over four-hour lifespan. To put that in perspective, $6.77 million in leveraged Bitcoin positions were rekt in the past four hours.

“Big day—World Liberty Financial just launched the WLFI token,” Donald Trump Jr., World Liberty Financial co-founder, said on X. “This isn’t some meme coin, it’s the governance backbone of a real ecosystem changing how money moves. Freedom + finance + America FIRST. Home Team.”

On unlocks: Only a portion of tokens purchased from the public sale that were bought at $0.015 & $0.05 will unlock initially – this directly rewards our early retail believers and no one else. Plus, treasury tokens purely to seed liquidity. This keeps the community the main focus…

— WLFI (@worldlibertyfi) July 19, 2025

The debut follows a July vote in which WLFI governance token holders decided to allow for the token to become transferable and tradable. The token was originally sold as a non-transferable governance token and raised $550 million via two sets of sales, finalizing in March. Following the sale, there was a “strong demand” from early adopters to make the token tradeable, according to World Liberty Financial.

WLFI began trading on several major centralized exchanges—including Gate, Bybit, and Binance—on Monday, which happens to be Labor Day for those Americans who celebrate it.

On Myriad, a prediction market developed by Decrypt’s parent company Dastan, predictors are now debating how many green hourly candles the token will have within its first 69 hours of life. WLFI’s first candle was green and followed by a red candle. It appears that Myriad users currently believe a downward trend is likely, placing odds at 66% that there will be more red than green.

“Our team has always believed in American strength and leadership,” World Liberty Financial co-founder Eric Trump wrote on X. “We’re setting a new standard for financial freedom; built on trust, speed, and U.S. values. This is a huge moment for the future of money!”

World Liberty Financial is a decentralized finance project—the sort that allows for the non-custodial trading of crypto assets without third-party intermediaries. The project brands itself as a crypto lending and borrowing service, but has yet to launch.

The Trump-backed project has, however, already rolled out its dollar-pegged stablecoin USD1, which is the sixth largest stablecoin by market cap, according to CoinGecko. It was co-founded by nine individuals, according to its site, including President Trump, his three sons, and U.S. special envoy to the Middle East Steven Witkoff.

President Trump disclosed in July that he has pocketed a handsome $57.3 million from the crypto venture. Combined with his meme coin dealings, Trump’s crypto ventures have led to uproar within U.S. politics as some lawmakers have loudly criticized the apparent conflicts of interest.
