by admin August 20, 2025

The official Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 release date has finally been confirmed, giving fans a clear look at when they can jump into the next chapter of Treyarch’s iconic series. Alongside the launch date, Activision has revealed key details about supported platforms, early access opportunities, and what players can expect based on the gameplay showcase.

From Campaign and Multiplayer to the return of Round-Based Zombies, Black Ops 7 promises to be an exciting entry in the subseries. Whether you’re a veteran of the franchise or a newcomer eager to dive in, here’s everything you need to know about BO7.

As confirmed during the Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025, Black Ops 7 will officially launch on Nov. 14, 2025, marking the return of Treyarch and Raven’s collaborative development for the Black Ops subseries. The game will release across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Battle.net, Steam, and Xbox app). Players who subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass will be able to play the title from day one as part of the subscription service.

While there has been speculation about a possible launch on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, Activision has confirmed that the game will not be available for the console at release. However, the company has not ruled out future support for Nintendo’s hardware.

Black Ops 7 early access and open beta dates

Players eager to try the game ahead of launch will get their chance during the early access and open beta sessions taking place in early October. The early access beta begins on Thursday, Oct. 2, at 12pm CT and runs through Sunday, Oct. 5, lasting 72 hours. Immediately after, the open beta kicks off on Sunday, Oct. 5, at 12pm CT and continues until Wednesday, Oct. 8, also spanning 72 hours.

Early access is reserved for those who pre-ordered the game on any platform, console or PC, as well as eligible Game Pass subscribers. The open beta, on the other hand, will be completely free and available to everyone across all platforms.

This testing phase will mark the first opportunity for players to explore the new maps and experience the updated gameplay systems firsthand.

Black Ops 7 gameplay reveal highlights

BO7 Co-op Campaign

Set in 2035, Black Ops 7 pushes the series forward with its signature mix of near-future combat, political tension, and psychological twists. Players take on the role of David “Section” Mason (reportedly portrayed by Milo Ventimiglia), now at the helm of a JSOC unit tasked with dismantling a covert organization known as The Guild. Along the way, the campaign revisits familiar and new characters such as the notorious Raul Menéndez and The Guild’s CEO Emma Kagan, while missions span diverse backdrops including futuristic Japan, the sunlit Mediterranean coast, and mind-bending sequences that blur the line between reality and the human psyche.

Jump into the campaign with your friends. Image via Activision

For the first time in Black Ops history, the Campaign supports both solo play and drop-in co-op for up to four players. Every kill, completed objective, and milestone contributes to a unified global XP progression system that seamlessly carries over between Campaign, Multiplayer, Zombies, as well as Warzone, ensuring that all modes feel interconnected and rewarding.

The Co-op Campaign concludes with Endgame, a bold new mode that goes beyond a traditional final mission. Designed as a replayable experience, Endgame challenges squads to survive relentless encounters, adapt to unpredictable scenarios, and fully utilize the personalized abilities unlocked throughout the campaign. With each run offering fresh progression and surprises, players can also explore the wider world of Avalon beyond the structured missions.

BO7 Multiplayer

Multiplayer continues to be the core of CoD, and Black Ops 7 delivers with a robust lineup of 16 brand-new maps built for classic 6v6 action, complemented by two expansive 20v20 Skirmish maps.

Player movement has been overhauled with the enhanced Omnimovement system, giving matches a smoother, more responsive feel. While it avoids returning to the over-the-top sci-fi mechanics of past titles, like jetpacks and full wallrunning, it does include a wall jump mechanic for added mobility. Additionally, the removal of the default Tactical Sprint further refines pacing and balance on the battlefield.

You can also look forward to an arsenal of new weapons, scorestreaks, equipment, field upgrades, perks, and hybrid combat specialties designed to open up new strategies and ways to dominate Multiplayer.

BO7 Zombies

No Call of Duty entry feels whole without Zombies, and Black Ops 7 proudly revives the classic Round-Based Zombies format that first made the mode a fan favorite. Treyarch has teased this version as their most ambitious yet, promising larger, more intricate maps, hidden Easter eggs for dedicated hunters, and a narrative arc that runs deeper than ever before.

Beyond undead slaying, the game also reintroduces Survival maps and Dead Ops Arcade 4, while expanding customization with a wide arsenal of new weapons, attachments, and a robust camo progression system that seamlessly carries across every mode.

Japan’s 10-year Bond Yield Hits Highest Since 2008

by admin August 20, 2025

Japan’s benchmark 10-year government bond (JGB) yield rose to a 17-year high, reflecting concerns that could spill over to bond markets across other developed economies and reduce demand for riskier assets such as cryptocurrencies and equities.

The yield rose above 1.61%, the highest since 2008. The move follows a dismal auction of the 20-year JGB on Tuesday, indicating investor concern about higher government spending and tax cuts.

Yields on longer-term debt rose to highs seen last month, with the 20-year bond hitting 2.64% and the 30-year climbing to 3.19%, according to data source TradingView.

The increases could easily spill over into U.S. Treasury notes, potentially causing a tightening of financial conditions. For years, the yields remained depressed due to the Bank of Japan’s ultra-easy monetary policy. That capped yields worldwide, especially in advanced nations.

Veteran lawmaker calls for BOJ rate hike

Veteran ruling party lawmaker Taro Kono told Reuters on Tuesday that Japan should raise interest rates and address fiscal imprudence to strengthen the weak yen, which has proven to be inflationary.

The central bank ended a massive, decade-long stimulus program last year and raised short-term rates to 0.5% in January. Since then, it has held rates steady.

Kono’s comment follows a similar remark by the U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who asked the BOJ to raise rates and put a floor under the yen.

The Most Dope Games We’ve Played During Gamescom 2025

by admin August 20, 2025

Gamescom 2025 has begun, and I’m on site in Cologne, Germany, checking out more than two dozen new and upcoming games, ranging from Hollow Knight: Silksong to The Outer Worlds 2 to 007 First Light and beyond! I’ll be doing individual write-ups for a lot of these games, but I’ll also be writing condensed quick-hit thoughts on the coolest games I’ve played so far, and you can read them right here (so bookmark this page, folks!).

The Most Dope Games We’ve Played During Gamescom 2025

Below, you’ll find a running list of the games I’ve played during Gamescom 2025. They’ll be listed in reverse-chronological order, so the latest game I’ve played will be at the top and the first game I played will be at the very bottom!

Hollow Knight: Silksong

It’s real, y’all. Hollow Knight: Silksong exists and is playable, and I checked out the game’s very first level, Moss Grotto. After a brief cutscene that shows Hornet trapped in a Cinderella-like carriage (that she then breaks out of), I take control. Immediately, Hornet is much faster than the first game’s protagonist, both as she platforms around and with her attacks. She has a new ability called Bind (used by pressing B on an Xbox controller) that heals her. However, you can’t spam this ability as it requires using a bar on screen that must be full.

It recharges over time and by defeating enemies, and I found it pretty easy to get it full for another Bind. Platforming around Moss Grotto feels a lot like 2017’s Hollow Knight, though Hornet is more nimble and can mantle up cliffs and platforms. The enemies here are easy to defeat, and it’s not until I fight the demo’s boss, Moss Mother, that I’m challenged. It’s a fun fight, but still mostly easy.

With the demo and my hands-on time with Silksong behind me, I’m excited to see what else awaits me in the full game. If this first level is any indication, it’s going to be a great Metroidvania, much like the first game. That said, I’m not convinced it’s going to break through the hype and make a mark on the genre like the first game did. I’m also not convinced it needs to, though.

For more, read my full Hollow Knight: Silksong hands-on thoughts here.

Hollow Knight: Silksong — Hornet, the heroine of the Hollow Knight sequel, leaping into action.

After 30 minutes with Hollow Knight: Silksong, I’m desperate to play another 100 hours of its refined, needle-sharp action

by admin August 20, 2025

Going hands on with Silksong for the first time is oddly nerve-wracking. After six years of anticipation, hype, and desperate occult rituals, the question is: can it possibly live up to expectations?

What ends up surprising me most, then, is how much the game puts me at ease. From the first moment I take control of Hornet, it’s like slipping on my favourite old pair of shoes. Six years? No, I’m back in Hollow Knight’s world like no time has passed.

That’s not to say it simply feels the same. Even missing her full range of traversal abilities, Hornet feels distinctly different from the Knight — more agile, more graceful, more precise. As soon as I try her deadly divekick attack, I can tell I’m going to need to master it for boss fights to come.

Related articles

Though the game does feel different in the hands, it’s speaking the same language. It takes mere seconds to get to grips with Hornet, from her little backwards step before turning to her quick, elegant attacks.

Immediately I’m out into a hostile but familiar world. Keys to find, shortcuts to earn, hidden items secreted just out of view. It looks sharper, but this is Hollow Knight as you know it.

The difference, then, comes in how Hornet is able to traverse it. The Knight felt like a wretch cast into the darkness and forced to learn on the fly. Hornet feels equipped and confident.

Her sprint is super fast, letting you backtrack in half the time. Her jump offers much more fine control over its height—a tool put to the test not just in platforming, but with aerial enemies to launch yourself at and fiery projectiles to leap over.

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

Combat pushes you to treat both air and ground as distinct angles of attack. Helmeted enemies ignore your strikes from above, forcing you down to their level, while shield-bearers constantly change which direction they guard themselves from, keeping you on the move to find your opportunities.

It comes to a head in the demo with a duel against a boss who feels like a mirror to Hornet—fast, agile, and precise in her own ways. Launching rapier thrusts and screen-filling whirlwind strikes and throwing up cheeky parries when she appears vulnerable, she forces me to lock in and make the most of my full arsenal.

That means plenty of dashes and divekicks, but also finding the right moments to launch swift throwing knives. They’re helpful for grabbing every damage opportunity, but I can’t rely on them entirely—and not just because their ammo is limited.

Getting in close and landing a few old fashioned strikes is vital, because it charges my magic bar. What’s that for? Well, it depends what kind of player you are. For the cautious, filling it to max lets you spend it for a burst of healing. But there’s a more reckless choice: spending chunks of it to launch super-charged attacks.

In the end, a little of both (and some very skin-of-my-teeth evasion) sees me through to vanquish my foe—but she jumps away off-screen before the killing blow, and I’m sure she’ll return for a harder fight later down the line.

I can’t wait to meet her again. Heading into this, my fear was that Silksong couldn’t live up to how high its expectations have climbed. In a way that’s true—if you’re hoping for a sea change for the genre, I didn’t see anything in this 30 minute slice to suggest one. It’s new but it’s safe, working in familiar metroidvania formulas.

Yet those 30 minutes sucked me right back into Hollow Knight’s world, much more than I even expected. By the end I was desperate for another 100 hours. If what you’ve been waiting for is more Hollow Knight, but even better, more refined, and needle-sharp, this seems to be it.

Wukong 2 Already In Development, Here’s The Teaser

by admin August 20, 2025

Today, at the very end of Gamescom Opening Night Live, Geoff had one more secret to reveal: The developers behind the super-popular action RPG Black Myth: Wukong are working on a new game, Black Myth: Zhong Kui, starring a new mythical hero.

Here’s the very short teaser for Zhong Kui, which doesn’t have a release date yet:

Black Myth: Zhong Kui isn’t a direct sequel to Wukong. On the new game’s official website, the devs explained that they wanted to “build more distinct game experiences, to challenge ourselves with bolder features” and work on “fresh ideas.” However, they did tease an actual sequel or DLC to Wukong, saying: “And to all friends who love Black Myth: Wukong, the westward journey won’t end here.”

It should also be noted that, despite a slick-looking CG trailer showing off the new mythical hero and setting, Game Science admits it doesn’t have much to show because the game is still very early in development, saying that Zhong Kui is “little more than an empty folder at this stage.” However, the devs said they love announcing new things and updating fans on August 20, so they created a CG short to “let everyone know that a new project has kicked off.” But yeah, don’t expect to be playing this game anytime soon.

According to Game Science, Black Myth: Zhong Kui, like Wukong, is a single-player action RPG that will follow “the same business model as before.” That seems to imply that this sequel won’t be free-to-play when it eventually launches.

“However, you won’t be playing a monkey role this time,” explained the studio. “That said, we’re still exploring and experimenting with the concrete differences between Wukong and Zhong Kui. So take it easy—let us impress ourselves first before we serve it to you.”

On August 20, 2024, Black Myth: Wukong launched on PlayStation 5 and PC and quickly became a massive hit. The game saw over 2.4 million concurrent players on Steam alone, beating out popular games like Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, Elden Ring, Cyberpunk, and many more. It still, to this day, holds the record for second-highest number of players all online at the same time on Steam, only beaten by PUBG’s massive 3.2 concurrent players record. Needless to say, a lot of people are excited for more Black Myth, and I expect that when Zhong Kui eventually arrives on PC and consoles, it will be as big if not bigger.

XRP slips under $3 as whales dump 470M tokens

by admin August 20, 2025

XRP has retraced below the $3 psychological level after whales offloaded nearly half a billion tokens, raising questions about whether the market is bracing for a deeper correction.

Summary

  • XRP dropped below $3 as whales sold 470M tokens in 10 days.
  • Despite the sell-off, over 93% of holders remain in profit.
  • Technicals suggest neutral momentum with risks of further downside.

XRP (XRP) slipped under the $3 mark on Aug. 20, trading at $2.88 at press time, down about 4% in the past 24 hours. The token has now shed 10% in the last week and 17% over the past month, standing nearly 20% below its all-time high of $3.65 set in July.

Whale selling adds pressure to XRP price

On an Aug. 20 post on X, analyst Ali Martinez noted that whales have sold around 470 million XRP in the last 10 days, raising concerns about mounting selling pressure. Large liquidations like this frequently slow down price momentum, especially when overall market sentiment is waning.

Despite the pullback, more than 90% of XRP’s circulating supply has remained in profit since mid-July, as per Glassnode data, with holders still averaging profit margins above 90%. This unusually high profitability ratio, combined with the completion of Ripple’s years-long legal battle with the Securities and Exchange Commission suggests much of the good news may already be priced in.

Analysts warn that such extended profit levels can trigger heavier profit-taking if markets face another bearish shock.

XRP technical analysis

The technical indicators for XRP show a cautious outlook. While oscillators like the MACD flash sell signals, the relative strength index is at 42, indicating that the market is neither overbought nor oversold. Momentum suggests a potential short-term relief, but moving averages paint a different picture.

XRP daily chart. Credit: crypto.news

XRP has consistently traded below its short- and mid-term averages, such as the 10-, 20-, and 50-day SMAs and EMAs, indicating sustained selling pressure. In the longer term, there are indications of support, as the 100- and 200-day moving averages are still in “buy” territory. This suggests that the overall upward trend will continue as long as XRP stays above key long-term support levels.

In a bearish scenario, XRP might retest the lower limit of its seven-day range at $2.86. If it continues to decline, the next support level might be around $2.70. On the other hand, bulls would have to recover the $3.00–$3.10 range to gain traction and try to push toward $3.30 once more.

Hyperliquid Whale James Wynn on Market Crash, ‘I Pray You Bought The Dip’

by admin August 20, 2025

James Wynn, dubbed one of the most aggressive leverage traders in the crypto industry, has dropped a bold opinion on the current market outlook. In a post on X, Wynn, a Hyperliquid whale, reinforced the accumulation and HODL mentality on the crypto market.

James Wynn’s bold Ethereum leverage position

Wynn, known for taking massive leveraged positions on assets despite market fluctuations, appears bullish in his post.

The crypto trader stated, “I pray you bought the dip. If you sold it, you are one pathetic jeet, who simply does not deserve any financial success.”

The message in Wynn’s post triggers optimism for future market conditions. He might have insight into a possible market turnaround that could see prices going through the roof soon. Wynn’s emphasis on “buying the dip” indicates that crypto assets could record massive gains soon, creating a point of entry for those who did not buy more difficult.

I pray you bought the dip.

If you sold it you are one pathetic jeet.

Who simply does not deserve any financial success.

Regards,
J.Wynn 🫡

— James Wynn (@JamesWynnReal) August 20, 2025

The aggressive trader was critical of investors who panicked and sold at a loss when the market crashed. He believes they will miss out on future gains when the price recovers.

Wynn, who has been silent in the crypto space for a while now, recently returned with a 25x leveraged position on Ethereum. The crypto trader’s leveraged long position is set with a liquidation price of $4,152.8.

While this liquidation price is significantly risky due to Ethereum’s volatility, Wynn has always been aggressive with his bets.

Crypto community reacts to Wynn’s market outlook

As of press time, Ethereum is changing hands above its set price at $4,228.91, despite being down by 0.1% in the last 24 hours.

Similarly, Hyperliquid is trading down by 0.44% at $41.88 in the same time frame. However, investors and traders are active on the market, with trading volume significantly up by 18.05% at $239.88 million.

Meanwhile, users in the crypto space have reacted positively to Wynn’s message. They acknowledged the need to always take advantage of market dips to increase holdings for profitability.

It’s the Economy, Donald | WIRED

by admin August 20, 2025

If economic trends continue, tariffs—which amount, despite the president’s insistence otherwise, to taxes on US companies and ultimately on US consumers—coupled with rising unemployment could be a ticking time bomb.

“If this experiment fails, it’s gonna fail horribly, and I think we’ll begin to see the impacts of that sooner than later,” says a second Trumpworld strategist.

Not Rocket Science

There’s plenty of cope going around in the GOP and the Trump White House.

“I think we’ve shown that the inflation bit has been resolved,” a White House official tells me. “When the private sector is willing to work with us, and is understanding and appreciative of our mandate to reshore manufacturing, we have shown time and time again we are willing to meet with them halfway.”

Could there be more concern about the jobs numbers, particularly given a decline in the labor participation rate and revisions bringing job growth from the hundreds of thousands this spring to the tens of thousands?

“No,” a Republican member of Congress close to the president tells me in a text message when asked if they’re worried about the labor market. “Not at all. Revenue from tariffs have been good. Plus big tax cuts just passed. More to come with potential massive trade deal on 15th.” (August 15th was the day Trump met with Russian president Vladimir Putin in Alaska; no such trade deal materialized.)

Economists I talked to, though, aren’t buying it.

“All signs look pretty pessimistic on the inflation front,” James Angel, a finance professor at Georgetown University, tells me in an email. “You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure out that tariffs will increase the prices we pay for imported goods. No amount of spin will change that.”

Justin Wolfers, an economist at the University of Michigan, says the labor market is looking grim even before the tariffs have fully kicked in. There’s “no question job growth has slowed,” he says.

Wolfers adds that one of Trumpworld’s biggest justifications for the tariffs not being a big deal for American consumers simply doesn’t hold up. As the first Trumpworld strategist pointed out, some companies—most notably American automakers like General Motors—have shown in their earnings reports that they’re willing to eat the cost of the tariffs at the expense of their own profits.

“That’s what you would normally expect to happen in the short run, because businesses don’t change their prices minute-by-minute every time the president opens his mouth,” Wolfers says. “Now that the tariffs are set, and they’re seeing margin compression, that’s the point at which you’d expect businesses to start to think about repricing.”

Wolfers says consumers should expect to feel more pain “in the second half of this year.”

Angel says that even a continuation of the status quo with perpetually delayed tariffs could still have devastating consequences.

“The economic chaos with on-again, off-again tariffs has caused business and consumer expectations to drop,” the Georgetown professor explains. “That in itself is likely to cause a recession.”

Citizen Cope

Trump’s vendetta against Federal Reserve chairman Jerome Powell doesn’t calm my sources’ jitters, as Trump has made clear that he would like Powell’s eventual replacement to cut interest rates, even if doing so conflicts with the Fed’s dual mandate of keeping prices stable and employment full.

It also doesn’t help, sources tell me, that Trump fired the head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics after the most recent job numbers showed significant revisions and a slowdown in hiring over the past several months. (EJ Antoni, Trump’s pick to lead the BLS, has little relevant experience beyond being the Heritage Foundation’s chief economist; as WIRED reported, a now-deleted Twitter account using his name showed a fixation on red-pilled conspiracy theories.)

Federal Committee To Review State-Level Rules

by admin August 20, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

US federal regulators are set to review state regulations of stablecoins to “even out” rules across jurisdictions under the new federal regulatory framework for the sector, the Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins (GENIUS) Act.

State-Level Stablecoin Rules To Face Federal Review

A federal committee led by the US Treasury Secretary is expected to start evaluating state-level regulatory regimes to determine whether they are similar to the federal regulatory framework under the GENIUS Act.

Following last month’s enactment of the landmark crypto legislation, the Stablecoin Certification Review, comprised of the US Treasury Secretary and the chairmen of the Federal Reserve and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, is in charge of reviewing state-by-state rules and “establish broad-based principles for determining whether a State-level regulatory regime is substantially similar to the Federal regulatory framework under this Act.”

Excerpt from the GENIUS Act. Source: congress.gov

The requirement aims to level out regulatory approaches between states to make compliance by stablecoin issuers more seamless across jurisdictions, as issuers face a different set of rules and policies depending on each jurisdiction, with some states having a stricter approach to the industry while others have a more welcoming strategy.

Gavin Meyers, a financial services regulatory partner at Pierson Ferdinand LLP, told Bloomberg Law that “It creates a potential for less of a mosaic of state-by-state regulation, which kind of plagues other aspects of the financial industry,” asserting that “eliminating that barrier is a highly beneficial aspect of the committee.”

“There will be some wiggle room in states that have been more favorable to crypto generally, like Wyoming,” Meyers affirmed. Notably, Wyoming has passed over 45 pieces of crypto-related legislation since 2016, including a bill in 2023 that authorized a state commission to issue stablecoins pegged to the US dollar.

Moreover, it launched Frontier (FRNT), the US’s first state-issued stablecoin, on seven blockchains, including Ethereum, Solana, and Avalanche, on August 19. Nonetheless, “due to lingering regulatory hurdles, the token is not yet available to the public,” noted crypto journalist Eleanor Terrett on X.

The Importance Of Clear Frameworks

According to the Bloomberg Law report, the federal Committee is ready to “even out the state-by-state approach, curtailing stricter regulatory regimes or building upon permissive state frameworks.”

Rosemary Spaziani, a partner at Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP, told the news media outlet that “If 40 states all sign on to what the federal government does, those are going to be pretty simple rubber stamps—they’re going to adopt a model act and incorporate it into their laws,” while “the ones that deviate are probably going to be a bit of a bottleneck.”

Additionally, the companies hoping to enter the stablecoin sector will likely welcome federal oversight to avoid potential compliance issues. Meyers noted that “If you are licensed by whichever state that qualifies under the ‘GENIUS Act,’ that certification is good across the country.”

Recently, leading banking associations sent a joint letter to the US Senate Banking Committee calling for amendments to the GENIUS Act. The associations asked the lawmakers to address multiple “loopholes” in the landmark legislation, arguing that a clear regulatory framework is crucial for the digital assets market.

Among the recommendations, they urged the Committee to strengthen the prohibition on interest payments related to payment stablecoins and to repeal a section of the GENIUS Act that allows uninsured, out-of-state-chartered financial institutions to operate without the host states’ approval, which could complicate regulation.
