Brian Armstrong, chief executive officer at American cryptocurrency exchange behemoth Coinbase, has predicted that the price of Bitcoin could potentially reach $1 million.

Armstrong sees the largest cryptocurrency achieving this milestone by 2030.

“We are starting to see regulatory clarity emerge in the US, which I think is a bellwether for the rest of the G20,” he said.

The GENIUS Act, which establishes a clear regulatory framework for stablecoins, was signed into law earlier this summer in the U.S.

Armstrong is hopeful that key market structure legislation will also be passed this year, which he believes would be a significant milestone.

He has emphasized that the lack of regulatory clarity is holding back institutions from allocating a bigger portion of their funds to Bitcoin.

The billionaire also recalled that it would be “crazy” for someone to suggest a few years ago that the U.S. would hold Bitcoin as part of its official strategic reserve. However, this is the reality now.

As reported by U.Today, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent recently stated that the U.S. would not be buying more Bitcoin on top of the forfeited coins, but he then backtracked on this statement within the same day.

Armstrong has added that Coinbase provides services to a total of 240 government entities. “Govermemts are now getting more and more engaged in this,” he stressed.

The risk of governments shutting down Bitcoin has been “severely diminished,” Armstrong said.

Other $1 million predictions

Armstrong is not the only crypto luminary who has predicted that Bitcoin could potentially surpass the much-coveted $1 million milestone.

In May, Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao forecasted that the flagship coin could reach seven figures during the current cycle.

As reported by U.Today, Galaxy CEO Mike Novogratz also sees Bitcoin hitting $1 million, potentially surpassing the market cap of gold, if the U.S. keeps printing money.

The Xbox ROG Ally X finally has a release date – and we went hands-on at Gamescom

Months after they were first revealed, Microsoft and Asus are letting the paying public have a chance to test out their new Xbox ROG Ally and Xbox ROG Ally X handhelds here at Gamescom. The two firms are also marking the show by finally announcing an “on shelf” retail release date: October 16th.

To be clear, these aren’t proper handheld Xboxes that will play any Xbox title, despite the “this is an Xbox” branding, but they’re still capable handheld gaming machines that can play PC games natively, or stream Xbox titles from an Xbox console or Microsoft’s cloud streaming service. Compared to the old Ally devices, the new Xbox models have been spruced up with new AMD processors and a streamlined Windows operating system. That should translate into better performance and a huge step forward in usability, and could make these the best Steam Deck competitors so far.

We went hands-on with both devices at Gamescom, with a software-focused outing at the Microsoft booth and a more hardware-focused extended play session in the Asus area, with Microsoft and Asus representatives providing some interesting extra details that we hadn’t yet heard.

Let’s start with the basics: the white Xbox Ally and black Xbox Ally X look identical in size and shape, which reportedly simplifies the production process, but the vanilla Xbox Ally is lighter by ~45g, as a consequence of lacking the upgraded Z2 Extreme processor and Impact triggers of the top-end machine. Both models are well-balanced and don’t feel too thick, despite their chonkier frames versus the original Ally devices. The impact of the Ally X’s impulse triggers is hard to judge, especially as relatively few games support them on PC, but might result in more fine-grained force feedback in some Xbox titles. Inside, the higher-end Ally X sports a larger 80Wh battery, has a more capable Micro SD card slot and a fancier higher-bandwidth USB 4 port alongside another USB 3.2 Gen 2 USB-C port.

Similarly, performance on the X with the Z2 Extreme chip is a bit of a mystery, with Asus reps unwilling to comment and relatively sparse reports online suggesting a small overall improvement – perhaps around 15 percent. However, that online reporting also suggests that larger gains are possible at lower power settings, hinting towards a boost to efficiency and potentially battery life – despite the matched 80Wh unit in the Xbox Ally X and regular Ally X. Meanwhile, the Z2 A chip in the regular Xbox Ally ought to perform very similarly to that of the Steam Deck, as it’s based on the same architecture and even has the same speed 6400MT/s RAM as the Steam Deck OLED.

The screens here feel well-chosen, with LCD used instead of OLED, but otherwise everything you’d want: a seven-inch 1920×1080 display rated up to 120Hz with VRR. We’ll take a colourimeter to them later to find out more about their colour reproduction and other performance figures, but the display here feels superior to that of the Switch 2 and a shade behind that of the Steam Deck OLED.

The software experience is the biggest change here, with a design that includes both an upgraded Xbox app, used as a unified games launcher and general home screen, and the Armoury Crate software that Asus developed for the original Ally devices. The main idea is moving as much as possible onto the gamepad controls and into the Game Bar overlay. Ideally, you don’t need to connect a mouse and keyboard or even use the touchscreen to enter your PIN at login, go through Windows updates, make settings changes and launch games. Long-pressing on the Xbox button brings up a quick switcher, letting you move between different full-screen apps like games and Discord, and there are also iOS-style navigation gestures on the touch screen. Games from most major game storefronts will be automatically pulled into the Xbox launcher, so you shouldn’t need to venture into full-fat Windows to boot up most titles.

Perhaps even more importantly, the Xbox Ally devices boot up into a customised version of Windows built around the Xbox launcher, so services like the desktop window manager that normally run at startup are disabled. You’re able to pop into a full Windows instance, which prompts those missing services to start, and after this you can choose to move immediately back into the Xbox gaming mode – with the proviso that those background tasks will sap some performance – or reboot the device to get back to a fresh slate and full performance.

Microsoft engineers told me that nothing has been removed from Windows here, so in theory you’d be able to use the Xbox Ally or Xbox Ally X as your only computer, perhaps hooked up to a dock with a monitor, keyboard and mouse. There also wouldn’t be anything to prevent you from installing an alternate OS if you chose, though at present it would be a bit silly to buy the first Xbox-branded Windows gaming PC and then take that unique software off.

The demo units available at Gamescom did have some software glitches at this stage, with the Xbox Ally I tested constantly entering the pause menu in Forza Horizon 5 and behaving erratically when using the touch gestures from inside the game. These aren’t likely to be running the most recent software, due to the nature of these demos, but it does suggest that the software side may need a bit more time in the oven. Similarly, features like adding custom games to the launcher are also expected to come post-launch.

That could explain why we’re only just hearing about the October 16th release date right now, rather than prices and a firm timeline for when pre-orders begin… though the general state of the world (gestures broadly) might also impact proceedings. Regardless, there’s not too much longer to wait, and Asus reps were keen to assure us that pre-orders and pricing information would follow “soon”. (In fact, some retailers have already started listing the device in their virtual shelves, which we’ve begun cataloguing in our Xbox Ally buying guide).

With a new tandem OLED monitor that can hit 720Hz, the 1000Hz dream is almost here

Asus just revealed two new tandem OLED monitors at an event adjacent to Gamescom 2025, including a flagship model that’s able to hit a blistering 720Hz (!) – at a reduced resolution of 720p – or a still-scintillating 540Hz at its normal resolution of 1440p. A 1000Hz OLED has long been the goal for display enthusiasts, and by that metric we’re now the majority of the way there.

The tandem W-OLED screens used on both the flagship PG27AQWP-W and lesser XG27AQWMG are also remarkable, with the new panels promising 15 percent higher brightness – a longtime OLED weak point – plus a 25 percent wider range of colours and even a 60 percent longer lifespan than earlier W-OLED panels, thanks to lower power requirements.

I went hands-on – or should it be “eyes-on”? – with both screens and came away impressed. The colour gamut and brightness improvements are hard to distinguish in the glaring lights of an event space – that’s why we do reviews with a colourimeter after the fact! – but the motion clarity that refresh rates this high on an OLED monitor can provide is immmediately obvious in fast-paced games like Counter-Strike 2, where you’re often trying to track (and aim at) fast-moving targets.

It’s a bit hard to describe exactly how this looks in person, but the main thing is that the trails that often accompany fast-moving objects – artefacts that are called overshoot and undershoot – are basically nonexistent at this kind of speed. Everything looks smooth, with many more intermediate steps in a given chunk of time. There are even faster 750Hz TN panel monitors, to be fair, but these LCD-based panels don’t have anywhere near the raw pixel response times of an OLED – let alone the colour reproduction, contrast or viewing angles.

Of course, you will need a beastly PC to hit anything near 720fps even in older esports titles, but for a lucky few this is quite an achievement. Asus has also included a full 80Gbps DisplayPort, so you’ll be able to access that full spec without the need for Display Stream Compression (DSC). The cheaper XG27AQWMG ought to confer those tandem OLED improvements without needing an eye-wateringly powerful PC, with a 1440p 280Hz spec sheet that is a good fit for most enthusiasts, and it consequently makes do with standard HDMI 2.1 with DSC.

Both monitors also come with a new panel coating that Asus is calling “trueblack glossy”, and it aims to combine the rich look of glossy panels without losing black depth in varying levels of ambient light. Eyes-on testing at the event with a phone torch showed concentrated reflections, unlike the diffuse reflections of matte coatings, but with a deeper black look on dark content – definitely far from the dark purple that you get on QD-OLEDs that are turned off, for instance.

The design of the higher-end PG27AQWP-W is also remarkable, with a semi-transparent rear shell that shows off some of the interesting circuitry inside. As someone that grew up with G3 iMacs and a purple see-through Game Boy Colour, I absolutely dig this. Asus has also skeletonised the monitor’s stand, presumably for aesthetic reasons, but also to reportedly reduce the amount of metal used. The XG27AQWMG is a little ordinary-looking by comparison, but does come with a more compact rectangular desk stand that allows more keyboard and mousing space.

There are a few feature additions too. Alongside the usual raft of burn-in countermeasures, Asus is adding a presence sensor that will automatically turn off the screen when you’re not there. “Did I leave my OLED on?” has almost become the new “did I leave the stove on?” for OLED monitor owners, so having this as a tunable option makes some sense, as long as it dims rather than turning off so that it doesn’t mess up window placements or confuse running programs.

Pricing wasn’t announced alongside the other details, but I’d guess that the flagship PG27AQWP-W to cost at least £1300, while the XG27AQWMG is likely to cost the better part of £1000, despite the less powerful panel and lower-bandwidth ports. OLED monitors are getting increasingly affordable, but tandem OLED isn’t going to come cheap – at least for a while.

On that note, Asus claimed during their event that they are the number one producer of OLED gaming monitors, but they’re largely reliant on LG and Samsung for producing the actual displays – and therefore there’s no doubt that we’ll see (potentially cheaper) options based on these same fourth-generation W-OLED panels from other brands in the near future.

Based on this early look though, tandem OLED looks just as compelling in the desktop monitor space as it does for high-end TVs – even if it comes at the same staggeringly high prices.

Kanye West Launches Token on Solana in Frenzied Debut

Hip-hop artist Kanye West has made his first direct move into crypto with YZY, a Solana-based token promoted late Wednesday night on his verified X account.

“A new economy, built on chain,” West’s account posted on the social media platform, describing the project. A video of West confirming “the official Yeezy token” drop was released an hour later.

West has spoken about Bitcoin before and once sued to shut down the unauthorized “Coinye” token.YZY is the first coin he has formally launched under his own name and brand. Earlier in March, West pivoted to crypto and teased the possibility of dropping a meme coin.

His announcement has triggered a buying surge that quickly pushed the coin’s market capitalization to more than $3 billion less than an hour after it went live, before drastically dropping to less than $1 billion, according to on-chain data from Birdeye.

While YZY is clocking a 375% rise over the last 24 hours, the token is down more than 34% in the past hour to $0.99, data shows.

The token was quickly listed on platforms including CoinMarketCap and Bitget, with Poloniex announcing support shortly after.

Trading volumes on Solana decentralized exchanges spiked, cementing YZY as one of the largest and most visible celebrity-linked coins to debut yet, eclipsing that of other launches such as TRUMP, MOTHER, and LIBRA.

Framed as part of a broader “YZY Money” ecosystem, its website describes the token as part of “a new financial system, built on crypto rails,” with YZY positioned as the native cryptocurrency of a broader ecosystem.

The website describes YZY as more than a meme coin and goes on to describe Ye Pay, a proposed payment processor aimed at reducing merchant fees, and the YZY Card, pitched as a global spending tool for YZY and USDC.

The project claims the token would support loyalty programs, retail use, and peer-to-peer transfers, but no timeline or technical details were provided.

While the site disclosed the Solana contract address and liquidity pool, questions remain about governance, compliance, and whether these features will be delivered.

West’s representatives under the Yeezy brand did not immediately return Decrypt’s request for comments on those aspects.

Bubblemaps data shows a single wallet controls about 70% of the token’s total one-billion supply, with public allocations reported at just 20% and the remainder vested under Yeezy Investments LLC, spurring concerns over centralization risks.

Trump’s Crypto ‘Conflicts of Interest’ Are ‘Blocking’ Dem Legislation Support, Top Lawmaker Says

JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — Despite growing bipartisan efforts to bring clear regulation to the digital asset industry, one main issue that stands in the way of passing legislation in the U.S. is President Donald Trump and his family’s actions in the sector, according to Rep. Angie Craig (D-Minn.)

“It’s no secret that my side of the aisle would prefer not to see any sitting President — I won’t name one — participating in this market while a sitting president unless those assets are in a sealed trust,” Craig said on stage at the SALT conference in Jackson Hole on Wednesday.

Trump, as well as his family, particularly Eric Trump, who was present at the venue during Craig’s appearance, have both built businesses in the industry, particularly since Trump retook office this past January.

Trump has issued several meme coins tied to his name and his social media platform, Truth Social, has applied for several exchange-traded funds. Eric Trump co-founded American Bitcoin, a mining company owned by Hut 8.

Craig, who was joined by Rep. Bryan Steil (R-Wi.), spoke on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act which the House passed with a massive bipartisan vote last month. The Senate Banking Committee is working on its own version of crypto market structure legislation.

While the majority of Republicans are in favor of the bill, many Democrats remain skeptical, and a big reason for that is the Trump family’s involvement in the industry, Craig said.

“The elephant in the room here is the President’s family’s participation in this marketplace and that’s a stumbling block to get more Democrats to support the legislation,” she said.

Craig said that while there is some language in the legislation that limits this conflict of interest, a stronger tone is needed to convince some lawmakers.

“If we could find some language that would allow or prevent conflicts of interest to occur, from our perspective, I think you would see a whole lot more Democrats support it,” she said.

Craig is the ranking member on the House Agriculture Committee, meaning she is the leading Democrat on that committee. This isn’t the first time she’s referenced the Trump family’s crypto tie-ups — during a committee hearing in June on the Clarity Act, she said his crypto actions were “making this debate more difficult” and suggested that Congress should add restrictions on how the U.S. president can trade in markets overseen by the CFTC, including crypto.

Despite her comments, Craig still voted to advance the Clarity Act without any such language being added.

Arkansas to allow field rushing after 3-minute delay to avoid fines

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas will allow football fans to rush the field following big wins, but only after a delay so the Razorbacks can avoid hefty fines.

The Southeastern Conference’s updated field rushing policy, with $500,000 fines, applies to each incident across all sports. The conference can waive the fine if the visiting team and officials are allowed to reach the locker room before fans descend.

Arkansas announced Wednesday that three minutes will be placed on the videoboards inside the stadium to delay the rush and allow the visiting team, staff and officials to exit the field.

“The safety of our student-athletes and the student-athletes from the visiting institution is extremely important to all of us,” Arkansas athletic director Hunter Yurachek said in a statement. “By implementing this new policy, we are allowing the visiting team to clear the field so our fans can safely join our team on the field to celebrate the big win. We look forward to our fans and students complying with this policy the first time we get to implement it so we can all enjoy a huge win.”

Arkansas’ first big game will be Sept. 27 against No. 6 Notre Dame.

There’s ‘No Question In The World’ Bitcoin Will Be Worth $1M: Eric Trump

JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. — U.S. President Donald Trump’s son, Eric Trump, is convinced bitcoin

will eventually be worth over $1 million.

Trump, who co-founded bitcoin mining company American Bitcoin earlier this year, reiterated his excitement for bitcoin during an appearance at the SALT conference in Jackson Hole on Wednesday.

He even called himself a “bitcoin maxi.”

The businessman and executive vice president of the Trump organization said he now spends over 50% of his time on crypto projects.

He said he believes that the crypto asset will be worth $175,000 a token by the end of the year, sticking with his earlier prediction.

Trump told several personal stories pointing out what he described as the flaws of the current financial system and how bitcoin and blockchain technology can solve those issues, including faster transactions and payment settlements.

American Bitcoin, which merged with Eric and his brother Donald Trump Jr-owned American Data Center in March, is expected to go public on Nasdaq via a merger with Gryphon Digital Mining (GRYP).

The brothers own 20% of the company while bitcoin miner Hut 8 holds the remaining 80%.

Trump’s comments came hours after Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong made a similar prediction.

Guilty Gear Strive Is Getting More Cyberpunk Content Than Lucy

Catch me redownloading Guilty Gear Strive, as Lucy from the excellent Cyberpunk Edgerunners anime is joining the roster as a guest character. Arc System Works’ anime fighter is releasing its 1.48 patch tomorrow, August 21, and not only will it come with the usual balance changes and bug fixes, but it will also bring more Cyberpunk content to the game as well. However, there is one downer in the small print.

Lucy is the only Edgerunners character joining the roster, but there will be references to others in the 1.48 patch, with avatars based on Lucy, David, and Rebecca from Edgerunners being made available. Meanwhile, in one of the crossover’s coolest touches, a selection of tracks from Cyberpunk 2077‘s soundtrack will be available as background music for all your fights, regardless of whether or not you’ve paid to play as Lucy. This includes songs by Johnny Silverhand’s band Samurai, such as the lesser version of “Chippin’ In” (should’ve been the superior take by my trashbag boyfriend Kerry Eurodyne), as well as “Never Fade Away.” The best song on the list, however, is “I Really Want to Stay at Your House” by Rosa Walton, arguably the most iconic song from the game and anime. The song accompanies some of Edgerunners’ best moments, and is used to incredible effect. So if you want to have yearning pop perfection playing in the background as you climb up the ranks, you can do that…but only for a limited time.

According to the patch notes, “I Really Want to Stay at Your House” will be removed from Strive in 2027, and that’s as specific as the notes get. The specific end date will be “announced separately,” and “may be moved up without prior notice.” Bummer. Guess you can always play it through the Spotify app?

These could have saved little me a ton of sleepless nights as a kid if they would have been on hand in addition to a cup of water on my nightstand, which I’d look at to make sure it stayed still.

The only catch? They don’t detail night-vision capabilities, but hey, it’s for dress-up and not actually spotting Rexy in the distance. Take a look at the officially licensed Universal Pictures Jurassic Park goggles, which are so far the closest we’ll get to the real thing, and we’ll take it!

The Old Country Nude Mod Removed By Take-Two

Two free mods for the PC version of Mafia: The Old Country that removed the clothes from one of the game’s main female characters were removed by publisher Take-Two Interactive using a DMCA request.

As spotted by PC Gamer, a pair of NSFW nude mods for the recently released linear action game Mafia: The Old Country have been removed from popular modding site Nexus Mods by Take Two’s lawyers, according to a Nexus customer support representative on the site’s forums. One of the nude mods replaced Isabella Torrisi’s in-game model with a nude version. The other mod, “Extended Textures For Nude Isabella,” allowed players to modify the character’s model, letting them give her “bigger nipples, bigger areola,” and even offering “cute pubic hair” options, according to text still indexed on Google search results. Both of these mods were created by Nexus user norskpl.

“A takedown/DMCA request was issued by Lisa Deere [on behalf of Take Two Interactive Software, Inc.] on 08/12/2025,” posted a Nexus mod rep on the forums. “We were able to internally verify the legitimacy of this claim through the requesting of additional evidence to prove the identity of the claimant and the rights they hold over the content in question.”

Interestingly, screenshots of the mod seem to indicate that norskpl didn’t create the nude model of Isabella themselves, but instead ripped it out of a different part of The Old Country which features a nude Torrisi in bed with another character. It seems that they then tweaked the model and added options to modify it using mods. So in a way, this is like Take-Two Interactive’s lawyers DMCAing their own content. It’s an odd situation, but not surprising, as in the past, Take-Two has used DMCA requests to yank down mods they don’t approve of in other games, including Grand Theft Auto V.

Perhaps using the Mafia: The Old Country‘s own pre-existing nude model is the problem, as it is content owned by Take-Two being used in a way they likely don’t approve of. I wonder, had the modder had just replaced the don’s daughter with a nude Shrek or Thanos, if Take-Two lawyers would have shown up at all.
