The case material is called “Flaxstic,” which the company says is made from flax straw and compostable bioplastic elastomer. Importantly, it’s also free of BPA, phthalates, cadmium and lead. If you ever decide to get rid of it, you can indeed just chuck in a compost bin and it’ll be completely biodegradable; another win for the planet.

What’s more, Pela cases are available for a wide array of handsets. They can accommodate iPhones (from iPhone 5 onwards), Samsung Galaxies (Galaxy S10 and newer), Google Pixels (from the Pixel 4a on) and even some OnePlus and Huawei models.

Casetify is mostly known for making durable yet stylish phone cases, but it has several eco-friendly options, too. The latest is its Compostable phone cases line, which is made with a 100 percent compostable and plant-based material called “Ecotify.” Basically, it’s a blend of bamboo, biopolymers and starch.

The regular Compostable line has a drop-protection of around four feet, while the Ultra Compostable line, with its extra corner bumpers, has a drop-protection of about 6.6 feet. My recommendation would be to go with the more durable Ultra Compostable option, even if it does cost a bit more.

Unfortunately, Casetify’s Compostable line is only available for iPhones, but it does make other kinds of sustainable cell phone cases for both the iPhone and Samsung Galaxy handsets — they’re just not compostable. Instead, they’re made from 65 percent recyclable materials. Plus, Casetify offers the option to return your old case, which they’ll then reuse or up-cycle to create a new one, thus reducing plastic waste.

The biggest perk of Casetify’s cases is that they’re very customizable. Not only can you pick out your favorite bumper colors and designs (Casetify regularly partners with brands and illustrators to come up with unique styles), but you can actually add engravings to them too. You can also choose to add even more protection with thicker bumpers (Casetify says the “Bounce Case” offers a 13-foot drop protection).

Incipio’s Organicore line of cases is one of the most attractive we’ve seen, plus they are 100 percent compostable. You’ll find them in clear and opaque designs, the latter of which has a buttery texture that makes the case feel more luxurious than you’d think. Most Organicore cases will protect your handset from drops from up to eight feet, and we like the way their raised edges defend against accidental bumps and dings. There are also MagSafe options available, so you can still use your iPhone with magnetic accessories without taking your case off.

iPhone compatible: Yes | Material: Plastic

No, Otterbox’s Defender series of phone cases isn’t compostable or made from recycled materials. But we wanted to mention them here because any phone case that can protect your device enough so that you don’t have to replace it with a new piece of gear will help you be more eco-friendly overall. Most of the environmental impact from smartphones comes during the production phase, so if you can avoid upgrading devices every two years (or even longer), you should.

Enter Otterbox cases, particularly the Defender series, which are some of the best cases that combine serious protection and attractive designs. They’re built to withstand military-grade drop tests with a trio of defenses: a bump-resistant silicone cover, a rigid inner shell to keep your phone in place and a memory-foam backing for added stability. Does Arisu die in Alice in Borderland Season 3? Cliffhanger ending explained

Alice in Borderland Season 3 sees Arisu and Usagi enter another round of deadly games. With so many twists and a shocking cliffhanger ending, here’s what you need to know if Arisu dies.

The third chapter of the Netflix series moves beyond Haro Aso’s manga, meaning new games and new characters, including the mysterious Ryuji Matsuyama (Kento Kaku), who draws Usagi (Tao Tsuchiya) back into the Borderland.

Sadly, fan favorites like Chishiya (Nijirō Murakami) and Kuina (Aya Asahina) aren’t back for the games, although there is a surprise for viewers at the end.

As for Arisu (Kento Yamazaki), it should come as no surprise that he heads back into the world he escaped from to save his wife. He would sacrifice his life for Usagi, but does he? Warning: spoilers ahead!

Does Arisu die in Alice in Borderland Season 3?

No, you’ll be pleased to know that both Arisu and Usagi survive after clearing the Joker games, as does their baby, with the pair discussing the name for their unborn child in the final act.

Their peace is soon interrupted by an almighty twist (more on that shortly), but for now, they’re alive and well.

It’s touch and go for a moment in the Alice in Borderland Season 3 finale when the team plays ‘Possible Futures’ – a game in which they roll a dice and move between different rooms within a grid to reach the exit.

There are plenty of rules that raise the stakes. For instance, the number on the dice indicates how many players can move into the next room, they have to choose between variants of their futures, and if their 15 points reach zero, they’re eliminated (aka killed).

The question of Arisu’s survival comes up as he decides in the final round to sacrifice himself to save the rest of the team – including Usagi and their unborn child.

However, there’s a twist: it turns out that by sacrificing himself, he’s won the game. While trapped in the room, he sees Usagi, Ryuji, and the remaining players in a fake Tokyo as it collapses around them and starts to flood.

Against all odds, Arisu manages to save the team, aside from Usagi and Ryuji. When he goes back for his wife, he’s faced with Banda – one of two players who decided to stay in the Borderland after the Queen of Hearts was defeated in Season 2.

Banda is the whole reason Arisu is back in this place. He believes Arisu is the best player and so he drew him in by using Usagi as bait – essentially for his own entertainment.

In their final confrontation, Arisu says he’ll never accept his offer to stay and Banda goes to shoot him, thereby killing Arisu in the real world. But just before he pulls the trigger, he’s eliminated by the infamous beam of light.

A mysterious new character enters: the Watchman, played by none other than Ken Watanabe. His arrival sees time itself stand still, with the Watchman inviting Arisu to one final game.

This involves two cards placed face down on a table. If Arisu picks the Joker, the Watchman gets to choose his fate.

When Arisu discovers both cards are Jokers, the Watchman gives him the choice: jump into the vortex and die, knowing that he’ll be back here one day and that death means no more suffering, or live and endure the pain that life brings.

Arisu chooses to return to the land of the living with Usagi, at which point time starts up again and he hears Usagi screaming. He’s able to find and save her, but Ryuji lets himself get sucked into the vortex while his real-life body flat-lines.

Usagi and Arisu survive and are seen preparing for their baby in the real world. But this is Alice in Borderland we’re talking about, and so of course there’s a twist.

Season 3 cliffhanger ending explained

Right at the end of Alice in Borderland Season 3, the world is about to be rocked by a prophetic natural disaster, with the camera closing in on a waitress in LA who is wearing a name tag: “Alice”.

You see, during his conversation with Arisu, the Watchman claims that the space between life and death will soon be “flooded with many people” as something terrible will happen in the real world – something “much, much bigger” than the meteorite disaster.

It’s hard to tell if this is just the Watchman trying to mess with his head (it wouldn’t be the first time in the Borderland), and Arisu thinks nothing of it when he makes it back home with Usagi.

However, after Arisu conducts a series of interviews with previous players – including Chishiya and Kuina – he heads back to his office when all of a sudden an earthquake hits.

They decide to switch on the news, where it’s revealed that unprecedented seismic activity has been recorded in regions across the planet, including in Japan, Europe, and the US.

Alice in Borderland then pulls a Squid Game and cuts to America, where two men enter a bar and order a couple of drinks. The waitress, whose face isn’t shown, heads back to the bar and turns around, at which point the camera closes in on her name badge.

So, what exactly does this mean? Well, firstly, we’re probably getting a Season 4. Secondly, the Watchman was correct – a disaster unlike anything the planet has ever seen is coming.

It opens up a whole new world for the Netflix show, one in which we could see hundreds, if not thousands of new players entering the space between life and death.

But one big question you’ll no doubt have is: who the hell is Alice?

Up until now, the “Alice” in the title comes from Arisu. His surname is a Japanese rendering of “Alice,” and the title is a play on Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

Given the series makes a point of showing us a woman named Alice, and an unprecedented natural disaster is set to impact the region she’s in the most, this could be seen as a setup for an American spinoff.

But like Squid Game’s ending, it’s unclear whether this is the true intention or if the creators simply wanted to end the series with an entertaining twist. Whatever the case, the cast and crew are game for more from this world – just keep in mind that no plans are set in stone right now.

In a recent interview, the Radio Times asked director Shinsuke Sato about the potential for future seasons, to which he replied, “If you’re asking me whether I’d be interested or not, I would certainly say yes.”

XRP $3 Fakeout Can Send Price to $2 Now: Details

Following what now seems to be a fakeout breakout attempt, XRP’s recent price action is displaying serious warning indicators. The token has retreated into weakness rather than continuing on its upward trajectory, and the structure suggests that if things continue to go against the bulls, it may drop to the $2 mark.

XRP’s momentum could not build up

The chart indicates that XRP is having difficulty maintaining momentum above $3 as it struggles beneath descending resistance lines. The rejection swiftly became a bearish reversal, despite traders’ momentary hope that the move higher would lead to a breakout.

The inability to recover the 50 EMA and 26 EMA indicates that sellers continue to have momentum, and moving averages are now starting to slope lower. This indicates that it will be difficult for bulls to regain control.

The fact that XRP has tested the 100 EMA but has not produced a compelling reaction adds to the pressure. Comparing the volume to previous surges, it has also stayed relatively low, suggesting that bulls are not strong enough to hold higher levels.

Unsustainable movement

The next significant support if the price does not settle here is in the $2.60 region. Losing this level could hasten the decline even more in the direction of $2, a zone that corresponds with areas of prior accumulation and psychological support.

With Bitcoin’s inability to sustain recent gains and wider altcoin weakness feeding the negative outlook, market sentiment also seems brittle. The likelihood of a further decline is still high unless XRP can recover $3 with significant buying volume.

The $2.80-$2.90 range is the battleground for traders to keep an eye on. A clear failure in this area validates the fakeout and makes the way lower. Bulls must move fast to regain momentum, but the current outlook is in favor of sellers because EMAs are moving against them.

Given how vulnerable XRP looks right now, the market should brace for the prospect of a retracement of the token back toward the $2 mark in the upcoming weeks, barring an immediate reversal above $3.

The ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X prices aren’t too bad in the UK, but tariffs bite in the US

After much hemming and hawing, Asus and Microsoft are finally ready to talk pricing on their handheld PC team-ups, the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X. It’s nothing too egregious in the King’s sterling, with the Xbox ROG Ally confirmed at £499.99 and the Xbox ROG Ally X at £799.99 – while hardly chump change, these are pretty standard prices for entry-level and premium portables respectively.

Those in the US, however, will be paying $599.99 for the ROG Xbox Ally and $999.99 for the ROG Xbox Ally X, the latter representing a big increase on Asus’ current ROG Ally X model.

That, at least, won’t quite make it the most expensive Windows handheld around, as the MSI Claw 8 AI+ has also hit (give or take a penny) the one-grand mark in recent months. But still, this looks an awful lot like the effects of US tariff policies, with the added cost of importing Taiwan- and China-made hardware being passed down to aspiring owners. It’s a process Microsoft’s console business will be familiar with, its current generation of lounge-dwelling Xboxes having hiked their prices twice in the past year, with big green fingers pointing at macroeconomic conditions on both occasions.

By contrast, the ROG Xbox Ally X’s UK price merely matches that Asus’ 2024 predecessor, while upgrading its innards with a newer, faster AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme APU. The ROG Xbox Ally, mind, still seems like something of a wildcard. It’s only £21 more than the equivalent 512GB Steam Deck OLED, and £50 less than the already budget-minded Lenovo Legion Go S SteamOS. Yet mystery surrounds its own APU, the Ryzen Z2 A, a chip whose four cores and ageing RDNA 2 graphics processor gives it specs largely in line with the original Steam Deck. If performance is a match as well, then it’ll struggle with the GPU-threshers that are modern 3D games.

That said, Microsoft and Asus aren’t just banking on framerates. The ROG Xbox Ally duo will be the first Windows 11-powered handhelds to include the operating system’s new, bespoke, Xbox-branding gaming mode, where many of Win11’s extraneous guff remains switched off at launch to preserve speed and batter life. It’ll have a more handheld-friendly UI than standard Windows as well, potentially wiping out a major advantage that SteamOS has always held over its desktop-tuned rival.

I’ll be seeing whether this mode will be worth the money, especially for stateside punters, with a review prior to the handhelds’ October 16th launch date. That’s assuming they’re not partaking in ongoing boycott calls against Microsoft for their alleged dealings with the Israeli military, including providing access to Azure cloud storage and AI tools for the purpose of running a mass surveillance programme against Palestinians. Microsoft have, reportedly, since revoked this access.

Petit Planet: Key details and latest news, summarized by humans

It’s announcement after announcement with HoYoverse lately, and just on the heels of its Honkai: Nexus Anima reveal, the publisher has introduced Petit Planet. It’s a painfully cute, Animal Crossing-inspired life sim that takes yet another HoYo game setting to the stars. I’m beginning to sense a theme here.

From the looks of it, Petit Planet gives us all a little corner of the galaxy to decorate and nourish. Over time, new neighbors show up and shape the world with you. Their friendship impacts how your planet grows, and you’ll do all of the day-to-day basics like gardening, crafting, and decorating while seeing your little cosmic community thrive.

Does Petit Planet have a release date?

No, there’s no release date for Petit Planet yet. HoYoverse hasn’t even given us a general window yet, so all we can do is speculate and look at some of the developer’s historical timelines.

Its more recent games, like Honkai: Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero, saw around two years between their first reveal trailers and their release dates. None of this is to say we’ve got a long wait for Petit Planet, but we’ve at least got some idea of HoYo’s typical cycle.

So what happened to Astaweave Haven? Is it Petit Planet?

Astaweave Haven was never officially announced, though a 2024 VG247 report highlights social media accounts registered in China suggesting that something could have existed with that name. Eagle-eyed fans on Reddit later spotted Astaweave accounts being renamed to Petit Planet, and nothing more came of the name Astaweave, so my assumption is that it was a temporary title they’ve since replaced.

How to get into the Petit Planet beta

HoYoverse announced a Petit Planet beta test as part of its big reveal, with sign-ups live on September 25, 2025. Last we checked, HoYoverse hadn’t confirmed a closing date, but registration for the developer’s recent Honkai: Nexus Anima beta remained open for almost two weeks.

Is pre-registration for Petit Planet open?

Yes, you can pre-register for Petit Planet now through the same site. There’s no word yet on what rewards you’ll get for signing up early, but they’re typically a handful of goodies like in-game currency and other extra resources. Those freebies are typically just for those who go through the pre-registration process, so it may be too late to cash in if you wait until launch.

The first Petit Planet trailer dropped in the midst of the 2025 Tokyo Game Show. If you’ve played a certain other cozy life sim from Nintendo, then HoYo’s project looks familiar. I probably shouted “oh my god, that’s like Animal Crossing!” after every few seconds. But I mean that in a good way—Animal Crossing is why I still own a Switch.

It certainly seems to come with all of the series staples, with clips showing off its neighborly woodland creatures, resource gathering, and socializing with other players. My only hope is that it brings us twists on Animal Crossing’s features, or explores some of them more deeply. If that interior scene around the 1:50 mark is any indication of how much I can customize my home, then count me in.

Every Petit Planet neighbor revealed so far

I reckon calling them villagers makes less sense since you get a whole planet to yourself, so

Petit Planet is calling its cute little guys neighbors. As you spruce up your world, neighbors “can connect their home planets” with yours, and you’ll deepen your friendship from there.

Befriending your neighbors is done through “daily activities to unlock deeper connections,” which involve gift giving, regular conversations, and distinct interactions. The few we’ve seen so far are cute as a button, but I’m crossing my fingers for more variance. Someone has got to deliver on the return of sassy Animal Crossing characters since Nintendo won’t do it.

Petit Planet’s official site names a few of its bigger personalities:

Black Ops 7 highlights two Japanese maps for multiplayer as part of Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show 2025 showcase

Treyarch has highlighted two of its Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 multiplayer maps set in Japan during today’s incredibly dry Xbox Game Showcase during Tokyo Game Show.

The two maps – Toshin and Den – are two of the 18 multiplayer maps available at launch. These two highlighted maps will be playable in the Black Ops 7 open beta, which kicks off on 2nd October.

The first map highlighted was Toshin, which is set within a Japanese city. Split into two distinct districts, players can fight through the tight alleys of Old Town or the tech-heavy main streets. There’s a broken down monorail, and even a cat cafe present here, though thankfully no actual cats to distract from tense firefights from what we can see.

Next up comes Den, a Japanese castle heavily converted with high tech equipment spread throughout its interior. Players can either head inside for close-quarters fights inside tight hallways and pristine throne room, or take the fight outside across tiled rooftops for more open clashes.

Earlier this week, a lengthy blog post dove into multiplayer details ahead of the open beta. This beta will feature a new game mode called Overload, in which two teams have to fight over a special overload device and drop it inside each other’s zones to score points.

Black Ops 7 has been set up as the “most mind-bending Black Ops ever”, leaning on the more psychological aspects of the series for this latest instalment. Still, with Battlefield 6 turning heads and gaining a lot of positive attention, there’s a lot of pressure for the upcoming Call of Duty to do well now it’s got some sturdy competition.

‘Bitcoin Is Next’: Peter Schiff Slams Ethereum into Bear Market Territory

Ethereum dipped below $4,000 on Thursday, kicking off a technical bear market and causing Peter Schiff to sound the alarm once again. The move took ETH more than 20% off its August peak, where the token briefly touched $4,850 and marked the sharpest correction since early summer.

The sell-off got worse once ETH hit $4,150. A heavy session dragged the major altcoin down to the $3,930 zone, canceling out weeks of gains and putting a damper on corporate treasury purchases that had been promoted as a stabilizing force.

The latest breakdown means we are now looking at whether the second-biggest crypto can find a floor above the $3,800 support band, or if it is going to go even lower.

Peter Schiff strikes again

Schiff, who has always been cautious about crypto rallies, said that the Ethereum reversal was linked to Bitcoin. In his words, ETH’s decline is a sign that the crypto market has turned bearish, and BTC is poised to be the next asset to dip.

Ethereum just tanked below $4,000. Despite all the Ethereum Treasury company buying, the #2 crypto is now in an official bear market, down 20% from its August record high. Bitcoin is next.

For traders, the report is about more than just Schiff’s criticism, though. It is also about the numbers on the chart. Ethereum is trading at the same levels it was at in early August, and it is clear that the momentum is broken right now . This means that the two biggest digital assets might have problems holding on until the end of 2025.

Ethereum’s fall gave Schiff another headline. The big question now is whether Bitcoin will follow suit.

Bitcoin Core contributor Luke Dashir is reportedly considering a Bitcoin hard fork in the near future.

The controversial developer is a loud opponent of increasing the size of OP_RETURN, arguing that there is no place for non-monetary data on the leading blockchain. Hence, there is no need for optimization.

He maintains the Bitcoin Knots client, which is an alternative implementation of Bitcoin nodes.

Initially, Knots came up with filters that specifically block transactions with non-monetary data.

However, all nodes are required to store data within the same blocks, and the filters implemented by Knots can apply only to unconfirmed transactions.

Dashir has now acknowledged that merely policing the memoool is not sufficient.

According to the report, he has proposed setting up a committee that would retroactively alter data on the leading blockchain. However, this would require launching a Bitcoin hard fork.

Major concerns

The hard fork would inevitably raise such major concerns as censorship, given that it could potentially lead to all “unfavorable” data being removed. Furthermore, node operators could potentially face criminal liability if they refuse to comply with the committee’s requests.

The report claims that the messages were verified, but Dashjr is denying the allegations.

Francisco Lindor makes history as Mets continue playoff push

CHICAGO — With one blow on a perfect early autumn night, a Francisco Lindor blast made all kinds of history. For the Mets, though, there remains only one kind of history to make — the one that lands them in the postseason.

The Mets helped themselves in that regard in knocking off the Cubs 8-5 on Thursday behind another veteranlike outing from dynamic rookie righty Nolan McLean, who struck out a career-high 11 batters and scattered five Chicago runs while pitching with a sizable lead. New York escaped the key series at Wrigley Field with a big series win.

Still, with three games to go, the Mets haven’t locked down anything.

“We’ve got to go out there and take care of business,” Lindor said. “The teams that are out there fighting for the playoffs are really good teams, so we have to go out there and get it done.”

McLean got plenty of help in a drama-free win at a time when nothing has been easy for the Mets. Lindor’s 30th homer in the third pushed New York’s early advantage to 3-0, and Brett Baty’s three-run shot in the fourth broke the game open.

Next up is Miami, and the Mets will fly to Florida still in control of their own fate in the race for the National League’s last wild-card spot. New York leads Cincinnati by one game and Arizona by two, but the Mets would lose a tiebreaker against either club should they finish with identical regular-season records.

“You want to stay alive,” Lindor said. “We’re in a position right now where we control our own destiny. But we’ve got to go take care of business. The Marlins have played as well, and we know that.”

Lindor’s homer was notable for several reasons. Lindor, who has swiped 31 bases this season, now has his second career 30-30 season, making him just the second primary shortstop to have two such campaigns, according to ESPN Research. Kansas City’s Bobby Witt Jr. was the first.

In addition, Lindor joins Mets star Juan Soto in this season’s 30-30 club, making them just the third pair of teammates to do it in the same season. The others were the Mets’ Howard Johnson and Darryl Strawberry (1987) and the Rockies’ Dante Bichette and Ellis Burks (1996).

As usual, Lindor deflected from his role in his own accomplishments.

“I’m blessed to be around good teammates, people that are elite, are at the top of what they do,” Lindor said. “When it comes to me, I’m surrounded by good teammates, good hitting coaches, and they try to find that edge every single day.”

This also marks Lindor’s sixth 30-homer season, moving him past Cubs legend Ernie Banks for the most such campaigns by a shortstop. Lindor now trails only Alex Rodriguez, who had seven.

Finally, Lindor joins Soto and Pete Alonso for the Mets in the 30-home run club, the first time in the 64-year history of the Mets that they’ve had three players hit that mark.

“It’s pretty impressive,” Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said. “It goes to show you the type of players that we’ve got here. They’ve been carrying us for pretty much a whole year.”

McLean may have debuted too late in the season to mount a real push for NL Rookie of the Year, but if he had started earlier, he’d be a front-runner. McLean is now 5-1 over eight starts since his promotion with a miniscule 2.06 ERA. The Mets, whose second-half pitching struggles have caused all sorts of headaches for their fans, are 6-2 in his starts. The other Mets starters are a combined 6-12 since McLean’s first start on Aug. 16.

“I’m just trying to keep the game plan as different as possible, as many times as I can,” said McLean, who used all six of the pitches in his arsenal through the outing. “Just playing that cat-and-mouse game constantly, which I think is important.”

New York’s season-ending series against the Marlins starts Friday, while the Reds finish at Milwaukee, and Arizona visits San Diego.

With a couple more nights like Thursday, the Mets hope to head to Los Angeles to play the NL West champion Dodgers in a wild-card series, a rematch of last year’s scintillating National League Championship Series. But first there is business to attend to in South Florida.

“You walk away from this series feeling good obviously, but you still got to go out there and take care of business in Miami,” Mendoza said. “We’re in this position, but we’re still in control.”
