The Social Network 2 is coming next fall and stars Jeremy Strong as Mark Zuckerberg

by admin September 27, 2025

The long-awaited sequel to The Social Network will hit theaters next fall, according to a report by Deadline. The official release date is set for October 9, 2026, which is just about 16 years after the first film dropped.

We also have plenty of other information, including the full cast and the actual name of the movie. The official name is The Social Reckoning, which makes sense as the movie follows recent events in which Facebook got into legal and political trouble when a whistleblower alleged that the company knew the platform was harming society but did nothing about it.

The cast is being led by Jeremy Strong from Succession, who takes over Zuckerberg duties from actor Jesse Eisenberg. Mikey Madison is playing the aforementioned whistle blower Frances Haugen and The Bear’s Jeremy Allen White portrays Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horowitz.

Bill Burr is also appearing in this flick, though we don’t know in what capacity. The Hollywood Reporter has suggested he will play a fictional character invented for the film that will be an amalgamation of several people. Aaron Sorkin is both writing and directing this one. He wrote the first movie, but David Fincher directed it.

Forza Horizon 6 will be set exactly where we expected it to be set

by admin September 27, 2025

The next grand open-world setting for the next Forza Horizon game will be Japan, Microsoft has accidentally announced, and it will be released in 2026.

The announcement came via an Instagram post on the official Forza Horizon account. This let slip, ahead of a Tokyo Game Show 2025 Xbox briefing today, that “The Horizon Festival is heading to Japan. Coming 2026.” The post has since been removed. Whoops!

Image credit: Playground Games / Microsoft

The full announcement is expected to occur in the Xbox briefing that’s only moments away – due to begin at 11am UK time. How much of the game we’ll see, we don’t yet know, nor how much of Japan it will allow us to explore.

Forza Horizon 5 was released four years ago now, in 2021, and this year debuted on PlayStation 5, in the spring. Tom thinks it’s one of the greatest racing games of all time. Given that, the question of whether this new instalment could launch on PlayStation 5 is probably more “when?” rather than “if?”. Or, “How long will Microsoft keep it exclusive to Xbox for?”

‘Cryptoization’ of Emerging Markets Poses Risks to Financial Resilience: Moody’s

by admin September 27, 2025

Cryptocurrency adoption in emerging markets poses risks to monetary sovereignty and financial resilience, credit ratings giant Moody’s Ratings said in a report on Thursday.

The risks are most acute in areas where crypto’s use extends beyond investment into savings and remittances, according to the report. Moody’s suggests that higher penetration of stablecoins pegged to the U.S. dollar weaken monetary transmission when it leads to pricing and settlement increasingly occurring outside a market’s domestic currency.

Stablecoins are crypto tokens pegged to the value of a traditional financial asset, such as a fiat currency, with the U.S. dollar comfortably the most prevalent.

“This creates ‘cryptoization’ pressures analogous to unofficial dollarization, but withgreater opacity and less regulatory visibility,” Moody’s said.

Cryptocurrency can also provide new ways of for capital flight, through pseudonymous wallets and offshore exchange, allowing individuals to move wealth abroad discreetly, undermining exchange rate stability, according to the report.

Moody’s also highlighted how increased ownership of cryptocurrency has been concentrated in emerging markets, particularly in Southeast Asia, Africa and parts of Latin America. Here, adoption is often driven by inflationary pressure, currency pressured and limited access to banking services. In contrast, adoption in more advanced economies, adoption is driven by institutional integration and regulatory clarity.

Crypto ownership expanded to an estimated 562 million people by 2024, an increase of 33% from 2023, the report said.

Best Smartwatch for 2025 – CNET

by admin September 27, 2025

We test smartwatches in the real world, focusing on key features from fitness tracking to connectivity that you’ll use every day. Starting with the watch itself, we check overall performance and responsiveness. Is there any lag when navigating menus? Is the touchscreen responsive? Do apps launch quickly?

Then we check if it has all the functionality you’d expect for the price. That could be everything from music playback controls to cellular connectivity so you can use the watch away from your phone or an always-on display. All smartwatches need to connect to a phone, so we also assess how easy the companion software is to navigate.

Lexy Savvides/CNET

Durability and design

Smartwatches are something you wear on your body, so we assess how comfortable they are to wear. We also know that everyone has a different-sized wrist, so we try to see how it fits and feels on a variety of people.

Then we look at how it stands up to wear and tear with daily life. Some smartwatches offer increased durability like dust resistance, or water resistance that’s suited for activities like scuba diving and where possible we’ll test this out for ourselves.

James Martin/CNET

Battery life

Battery life will vary depending on how you use a smartwatch, so we test battery life with a few standard tests. We see how long it generally lasts on a single charge with features that represent typical use, like the always-on display, sleep tracking and doing an outdoor workout with GPS.

That small circle is the temperature sensor on the back of the Galaxy Watch 5.

Lexy Savvides/CNET

Fitness and health sensor accuracy

We test the accuracy of smartwatch sensors in a couple of different ways. For example, the heart rate sensor is compared against the readings taken from a chest strap, considered the gold standard in consumer heart rate tracking. We compare readings from the watch against the strap for resting heart rate, and heart rate during a variety of cardio-based activities like running or cycling. We check to see how long it takes to connect to a GPS signal when doing an outdoor workout.

Other health sensors, like a blood oxygen sensor, are compared against a pulse oximeter for spot readings where possible.

SoftBank, Ark seek to join Tether’s $20b funding round: Bloomberg

by admin September 27, 2025

SoftBank Group and Ark Investment Management are looking to join Tether Holdings’ latest major funding round, a deal that could catapult the stablecoin giant to the top of the list of cryptocurrency companies.

Summary

  • SoftBank, Ark Investment are among top firms looking to join Tether’s upcoming major funding round, according to Bloomberg.
  • Tether is eyeing a funding round of up to $20 billion at a $500 billion valuation.
  • The USDT issuer seeks to bolster its expansion via initiatives including artificial intelligence and energy

SoftBank and Ark, according to Bloomberg, have initiated talks over the funding round and are keen on backing Tether Holdings SA.

The round, sources say, is significant and could value the USDT issuer as high as $500 billion. In this case, the investment could elevate Tether into the bracket of the world’s most valuable private companies.

According to the report, Tether is eyeing a private placement for $15–$20 billion in exchange for about 3% of the company. Funds would go toward bolstering the stablecoin giant’s expansion efforts, including initiatives in artificial intelligence and energy.

Tether is the “Stable Company”

Plans for a mega funding round comes on the back of Tether appointing Benjamin Habbel as its new chief business officer. Habbel, the co-founder and CEO of private equity firm Limestone Capital, will lead Tether’s organizational growth, as well as the company’s finance, investments, and portfolio expansion efforts.

Tether also recently announced its plans for USAT, a U.S.-regulated stablecoin earmarked for U.S. customers and expected to launch by year-end. Former White House crypto official Bo Hines is Tether USAT’s chief executive officer.

Meanwhile, Tether (USDT), the company’s flagship project, continues to see significant expansion.

In a recent post on X, Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said his stablecoin “is building the largest peer-to-peer network of money movement.” He noted that daily wallet-to-wallet USDT transfers stand at over $17.4 billion, accounting for 130x growth since 2020.

“Tether isn’t just a stablecoin company – it’s The Stable Company. We’re building resilient infrastructure, advancing financial sovereignty, and pioneering a future that’s decentralised, resilient, stable, and powered by AI,’ Ardoino added in a statement.

Watch Nintendo Of America’s New CEO Dance, Sing, And Cosplay

by admin September 27, 2025

Nintendo’s North American subsidiary is about to have some new leaders. One of them is Satoru Shibata, a longtime veteran of the company who will become Nintendo of America’s CEO in just a few months. Most players probably have no idea who he is, but long-time industry watchers and fans in Europe will probably be at least somewhat familiar with the executive thanks to an impressive library of colorful videos in which he can be seen dancing, singing, and talking about his favorite handheld games.

Here’s NoA’s new CEO singing “Call Me Maybe” to promote Nintendo’s Karaoke games (via Tiny Cartridge):

And here he is dancing to promote Yo-Kai Watch:

Here is Shibata cosplaying to announce Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney:

The exec had a reputation for sending Swapnote messages directly to fans when he was head of Nintendo Europe:

He presented separate Nintendo Direct updates to fans throughout the early 3DS and Wii U days. In this one he traveled to a warehouse in Germany to show everyone where the games and consoles get packaged and shipped from:

And here’s the man’s 3DS collection. He says he’s bad at games and never beat Luigi’s Mansion 2, but his favorite way to relax before bed is playing Professor Layton. He had thousands of Miis stored in it, including one belonging to the now late Nintendo President Satoru Iwata:

Will modern Nintendo let this version of Shibata back out into the wild? Probably not. The company’s different now. So is the internet. But at least we have these time capsules from the past. Nintendo’s business strategy has always been a mix of ruthless and whimsical. Will see if more of the latter comes back again in the Switch 2 era. Shibata is joined by Devon Pritchard, who is taking over Doug Bowser’s role as President of Nintendo of America. You can go watch the latest Kit and Krysta podcast for an insider’s perspective on Bowser’s retirement and the new folks in charge.

Status Audio Pro X review: premium earbuds with seriously impressive sound

by admin September 27, 2025

Why you can trust TechRadar

We spend hours testing every product or service we review, so you can be sure you’re buying the best. Find out more about how we test.

Status Audio Pro X: Two-minute review

American audio company Status Audio was hurt by the curse of poor timing with the release of its next-gen premium earbuds and challengers to our best earbuds buying guide. That’s because less than two months after the firm unveiled the Pro X, Apple finally released its latest buds, the AirPods Pro 3, which slightly undercut the underdogs’ latest release in terms of price.

I don’t think Status needs to worry much about competition from Apple, though, because the product distinguishes itself in a few key areas (and, of course, actually works equally as well for Android users).

For one, the Status Pro X has three audio drivers per bud, one more than the AirPods Pro and two more than most earbuds I test. This trio works together to deliver well-defined and high-quality audio that sounds fantastic, making these some of the best earbuds you can try.

The earbuds also look as good as they sound, with the ellipsoid design language carried between the buds and the case to make them look some of the classiest buds I’ve seen. It’s not all for show either as I found the fit reliable.

Status has nailed more of the basics with solid Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), handy touch controls and wireless charging in the case.

The main let-down for me was the battery life, which basically scraped five hours if you’ve got ANC turned on. That’s pretty poor when you look at averages on the market, even for high-end buds, and rules them out for certain use cases.

In fact, the overall feature set is a little bit anemic, and there are a few common perks that aren’t available on the Pro X. It’s clear that the emphasis here is on the audio quality and design, not the handy extras that often justify a higher price.

Sign up for breaking news, reviews, opinion, top tech deals, and more.

That’s the one department where the AirPods Pro 3 cleanly beat the Status Pro X; don’t expect any live translation or heart rate tracking here. But Status has Apple beat in the two other main areas, and that’s good enough for me.

Status Audio Pro X review: Price and release date

  • Released in ‘batches’ every few months from July 2025
  • Costs $299 / £272 / AU$470
  • Pricier than big-name rivals

The first thing to know about the Pro X is that they’re not cheap gadgets; these are pricey buds that bump elbows with some top-notch rivals.

The official retail price for the Status Audio Pro X is $299 / £272 / AU$470, though it’s worth noting that you can pre-order them for $249 / £226 / AU$384. When I say ‘pre-order’, I don’t mean that the buds aren’t out, but (at the time of writing at least) Status is selling them in waves, with one every couple of months. For the purpose of this review I’m taking the RRP as the real price of the buds though.

That price means the buds cost more than the new AirPods Pro 3, which go for $249 / £219 / AU$429 and roughly match the option that tops our best earbuds list, the Technics EAH-AZ100, which go for $299 / £259 / AU$478.

In other words, I went into this review expecting great things.

One more thing: the Pro X’s predecessor, the excellent Status Between 3ANC, cost $249 (approx. £249 / AU$399).

Status Audio Pro X review: Features

  • Poor battery life
  • Decent noise cancellation
  • Fewer features than rivals

According to Status Audio, the Pro X will last for 8 hours of listening time, with the charging case extending it to 24 hours in total. That figure must be for listening with ANC turned off, because when it was enabled, I got a far shorter listening time: roughly four and a half to five hours. That’s not exactly a competitive stat as it falls below average by a considerable way.

A better feature is the noise cancellation which, while not best-in-class, was solid enough to plaster over annoying background noises. The Ambient mode is one of the better examples of pass-through sound I’ve used, with surrounding sounds fed into your headphones without sounding amplified at all.

You can toggle between these modes using the Status Hub app which also lets you customize the touch controls, choose between one of five equalizer presets (plus a custom mode with an eight-band EQ for the audiophiles), find the buds if you’ve lost them (with location tracking and audio cues), set up multi-point connection and toggle whether your voice is hidden by the ANC when you talk in the phone. Hidden in the app’s settings is a Dynamic EQ mode which boosts bass and treble when the volume is low – it’s turned off by default though.

There are a few features which you may expect at this price point that you’re not getting, including surround-sound audio (see ‘spatial audio’), toggle-able wearer detection, fit tests or the ability to change codec or music stream bitrate. The slender feature set is something we’ve knocked past Status buds for and while there are more here (the Between 3ANC didn’t let you change touch controls, for example, and GPS buds tracking is a great tool), I’d still like to see a little more to justify the price.

In terms of connection specs, the Pro X supports SBC, AAC and LDAC, at 24-bit/96 kHz. In my testing I didn’t have any connection issues between the buds and my phone.

Status Audio Pro X review: Design

  • Classy look for bud and case
  • Handy touch controls
  • Case supports wireless charging

The Status Audio Pro X are some of the more refined earbuds I’ve tested this year in terms of design. They’re stem-toting buds, although ‘stem’ feels like an odd choice of word for the ellipsoid pillars standing tall from the earbuds.

Despite the size of the stems, which made me worry about the reliability of the ear fit, the Pro X stayed in my ears without any shifting or issues. The touch controls worked well and were easy to use, thanks to the size of the sensor area so you don’t need any precision to pause or skip your music.

The buds have an IP55 rating against dust ingress and jets of water, so don’t submerge them in puddles or sinks if you want them to keep working.

Now onto the case; it’s a small oblong box that weighs about 48g (according to my kitchen scales, though I couldn’t find an official figure from Status Audio). It’s not too huge a case although I did notice it in my trouser pocket. I like how it shares obvious design DNA with the earbuds, though I do feel Status missed a trick by not copying the buds’ two-tone shading.

In a neat addition, the case supports wireless charging, so you don’t need to rely on its USB-C port if you don’t want to.

Something I need to mention is that, during testing, one of the earbud charging connectors in the case stopped working. I wrote this off as an anomalous error and Status were quick to replace the test unit with another one – which didn’t break – but I feel compelled to mention the issue after I discovered a Reddit post in which people shared stories of the same issue happening, albeit in past Status buds.

Status Audio Pro X review: Sound quality

  • 12mm driver + dual balanced armature drivers
  • Equalizer plus loads of presets
  • Max volume should be higher

Status is putting all its eggs in the ‘sound quality’ basket with the Pro X. The buds have not one, not two but three drivers: a 12mm dynamic driver and two Knowles balanced armature drivers, with the triumvirate designed to individually hit bass, middle and treble respectively.

This gambit pays off: the Pro X sound fantastic and you won’t find much better on the market in the wireless realm. By default the sound profile is neutral, but the aforementioned app presets let you pull oodles of treble or bass out of your tunes – once you work out what each means, due to the lack of a guide (take a guess which has more bass: Status Signature, Status Audiophile or Knowles Preferred? That’s right, there’s no way of knowing – and that’s the only information you’re given). Whatever your taste, you’ll be able to cater your listening to it.

Treble is distinct and sparkling, while bass is well-defined and mids remain clear and strong. The quality is high, and you can hear the inflection in vocals and the squeak of fingers on a guitar string. There isn’t as defined a soundstage as on some other high-end buds though, beyond the natural separation that you can perceive when the quality of lines is higher.

The Pro X don’t go quite as loud as I would’ve liked either; a few times when I was listening outdoors they didn’t reach the volume or oomph I’d have liked to combat noisy situations, despite the decent noise cancellation.

Status Audio Pro X review: Value

  • Let’s be clear, these are pricey buds
  • …but you can save money with pre-order

It’s always hard to defend the value proposition of top-end buds. After all, premium tech simply doesn’t give you value for money; you can buy decent buds for a third of the price that don’t drop the quality by a third – and the gains sonically here are absolutely worthy if you value them, but they’re incremental.

So Status goes a long way to justifying the Pro X’s price with the high-quality audio and premium design, but the question of whether they’re great value for money would be a lot easier to answer if the feature set was more fleshed out.

Should I buy the Status Audio Pro X?

How I tested the Status Audio Pro X

  • Tested for one month
  • Tested at home, in the office and on walks

As I mentioned earlier in this review, I tested two review samples of the Status Pro X due to one breaking, and it means the total testing period for the buds exceeded a month, longer than we usually give buds.

I paired the buds with my Android phone and used apps like Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, YouTube and WhatsApp for various types of testing. I listened at home, on various types of public transport and on walks around my neighborhood.

I’ve been reviewing gadgets at TechRadar since early 2019 and have tested many different earbuds in that time.

Helldivers 2 Could Have Ended Up As A Free-To-Play Game

by admin September 27, 2025

Helldivers 2 was, at one point, going to be a free-to-play game that would have been “completely” different than what we got in 2024. And this pivot is part of the reason why Helldivers 2 has some nasty performance problems.

When Helldivers 2 launched on PS5 and PC early last year, it quickly became a massive hit for PlayStation and developers Arrowhead. And since then, the sci-fi co-op shooter has remained popular as more updates have expanded the game, adding new weapons, enemies, locations, and more. But in recent months, players have complained about performance issues and technical problems.  Arrowhead’s CEO, Shams Jorjani, isn’t shying away from these criticisms and is directly addressing them in the official Helldivers 2 Discord server. And it’s here that he also revealed that at one point in time, Helldivers 2 was a much smaller game that was planned to be free-to-play and not a paid experience.

On September 25, while talking to fans about Helldivers 2 and its ongoing performance issues on console and PC on Discord, Jorjani explained that the shooter had a lot of built-up “tech debt” from various pivots that happened during development.

“[Helldivers 2] started as a AA game,” said the CEO. “[It] then grew in scope, then pivoted to a launch title for PS5, then pivoted to F2P, then back to premium ( I might have the order messed up) – so the goal posts were moved a few times – so the foundations of this big tower were made for a little bungalow on the beach.”

As far as I know, this is the first time it’s been officially confirmed by anyone at Arrowhead publicly that Helldivers 2 was at one point planned to be free-to-play. It’s interesting to think about now, and according to Jorjani, that version of the game would have had a “completely different content pipeline” and would have likely been a very different game compared to what we actually got.

“I wasn’t with Arrowhead back then so I don’t know – but the model was always to give away as much nice stuff for free and monetize other things,” said Jorjani. “It would have been a completely different angle. It [would have] required a completely different content pipeline.”

Making all of these changes and pivots during development led to a lot of tech debt, which the CEO says is a big reason the game’s performance is “so-so.” But they are planning to improve things in the future, with the CEO telling fans in the Discord that improving the game is like cleaning out a garage.

“Tech debt is like a garage filled with stuff you just chucked in,” said the CEO. “We really need to put up shelves in the back to get organized.” This isn’t the first time he’s talked about the game’s tech debt causing issues. Earlier this month, he reiterated that Helldivers 2 wasn’t in a great place and that the team needed to get their “shit in order” and fix it.

Kraken Secures $500 Million In Latest Funding Round, Boosting Valuation To $15B

by admin September 27, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

US-based cryptocurrency exchange Kraken, has successfully closed a $500 million funding round, achieving a valuation of $15 billion, as reported by Fortune. This significant milestone comes as the company gears up for its anticipated initial public offering (IPO), which is expected to take place next year.

Kraken’s Valuation Rises To $15 Billion

In July, The Information reported on Kraken’s intentions to raise this substantial amount, and recent updates confirm that the funding round was finalized this month without a primary investor.

Instead, Kraken set the terms of the deal, including the valuation figure. Among the contributors to this funding round were various investment managers and venture capitalists, notably including the exchange co-CEO Arjun Sethi’s Tribe Capital, as well as Sethi himself in a personal capacity.

This latest valuation marks a notable increase from the $11 billion the exchange reached in 2022, when it raised an undisclosed sum. Kraken has demonstrated strong financial performance in recent years, reporting $1.5 billion in revenue for 2024, with an additional $472 million generated in the first quarter of 2025.

Currently, the exchange handles an impressive daily trading volume of $1.37 billion, making it the second largest in the United States after Coinbase (COIN), which already went public back in April, 2021.

Crypto IPO Boom

The crypto landscape has experienced a notable shift this year, as investor sentiment has evolved from a period of exuberance in 2021 to a more cautious approach.

However, the appetite for public offerings among crypto firms has resurged, driven by favorable regulatory developments. This shift has sparked a wave of IPO activity in the cryptocurrency sector with Circle (CRLC), and Bullish (BLSH), capitalizing on the rising interest toward crypto stocks.

In addition to its funding success, Kraken is aggressively expanding its services beyond traditional cryptocurrencies. The company has ventured into tokenized stocks, positioning itself at the forefront of this emerging market.

Furthermore, it recently acquired the US-regulated retail futures trading platform NinjaTrader for $1.5 billion, with plans to extend its reach into the UK, Europe, and Australia.

Earlier in the year, Kraken also acquired a Cyprus-based company to secure a Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) license, enabling it to offer derivatives across the European Economic Area (EEA).

On the political front, Kraken has committed to donating $2 million to two pro-crypto political action committees (PACs), reinforcing its dedication to advocating for privacy and innovation rights in the United States.

Co-CEO Arjun Sethi emphasized the ongoing battle for the future of cryptocurrency in the US, noting a significant shift in the political climate from “fear to understanding” throughout 2025.

The daily chart shows the total crypto market capitalization currently at $3.7 trillion. Source: TOTAL on TradingView.com
