BILL SNYDER DOESN’T understand what all the fuss is about.

The legendary Kansas State coach, 85 years old and retired from coaching, can’t remember exactly what the Wildcats called the play because it was just an add-on to a sneak. He didn’t — and still doesn’t — think it was very innovative or creative.

“It was just a natural thing to do,” he told ESPN of the play that would become known as the “tush push” and eventually inspire a raging NFL-wide debate. “We need to create a way in which we could take the shortest distance to get the short distance we needed to go and not get held up, because everybody put all the people over there, so we wanted to compete against no matter how many people you put there. We wanted to be strong enough not to get held up at the line of scrimmage. And we would bring one or two, or on occasion, three backs up right off of the hip of the center, and on the snap of the ball, we would push the center or push the back of the quarterback.”

Snyder said he’s not aware of anyone running the play before his Wildcats teams, who added the play soon after 2013, when pushing became legal in college football. His offensive coordinator, Dana Dimel, took the concept with him to UTEP when he became head coach there in 2018 and experimented with running fake sneaks off of it. (Dimel died in 2023.) Snyder said that sometimes opposing coaches would complain to officials during games but that it never went further than that because the play was within the rules. He said he has never heard from any NFL coaches about it. He’s not sure the Eagles even knew he was running the play years before they were, and he certainly doesn’t believe it was special enough to warrant such attention.

“It was like any other play,” Snyder said. “It was just a play in our repertoire, and that’s what we did on certain occasions, and we didn’t treat it any differently than any other play that we had.”

But that’s not how the league office or a majority of NFL owners look at the play. For cited reasons including health and safety and pace of play, a large group of teams that believes pushing has no place in football attempted to ban the tush push. Those efforts came up short, with 10 teams voting down the efforts to ban it Wednesday.

Although what was likely the first tush push took place in Manhattan, Kansas, Eagles coach and former Colts OC Nick Sirianni has credited Eagles offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland, former Colts head coach and Eagles assistant Frank Reich, and quarterbacks Carson Wentz and Jacoby Brissett for inspiring the play. Though nearly every team in the NFL has run it, the Eagles are the face of the play (or perhaps the tush of it). It was Philadelphia that ran what some believed would be the final such play in its Super Bowl LIX win over the Chiefs — the team’s first touchdown of the game — when Jalen Hurts powered his way into the Caesars Superdome end zone.

When asked in March how he would feel if he ended up being the last coach to call a tush push, Saints coach and former Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore said: “Give credit to Jalen and all those guys for creating a play that someone decided we’re just going to make a rule up to stop it. “

In the end, an impossible-to-stop play remained impossible to stop, even for the league office and a conference room full of owners.

Saquon Barkley to tush push critics: ‘Get better at stopping it’

Philadelphia Eagles star Saquon Barkley discusses the tush push debate before this year’s Met Gala.

IN THE THREE-ISH-YEAR NFL lifespan of the play, 28 of 32 teams have run a variation of it. The only four clubs that have never pushed the player taking the direct snap on a sneak are ones that have smaller or possibly more fragile quarterbacks — Miami, Carolina and Washington, plus New Orleans, which has a dynamic backup in Taysom Hill with his own short-yardage packages.

Not every push sneak is made equal (some feature a very late and likely incidental push from a running back out of the I-formation), and there is no specific stat available to ESPN to filter for the distinct formation that we recognize as the Eagles tush push, where the offensive line is crouched low to the ground and the running backs, tight ends or receivers cluster on each side of the quarterback or behind him in a tripod shape. So ESPN’s push sneak numbers reflect all kinds of sneaks where the player taking the direct snap under center is pushed by another player at any point.

Since 2022, 12 teams have scored touchdowns using the tush push. Philadelphia has run more tush pushes than any other team (124 for 106 first downs and 33 touchdowns, nearly twice the number of push sneaks as the Bills, the team with the second most) and converted 85.5% of them, but Buffalo has a better first-down success rate than the Eagles, and has converted 88.2% (60 of 68 attempts) for first downs.

Though no other team has come close to running the play as much as the Eagles, Philadelphia’s success with the tush push coincided with a leaguewide increase in quarterback sneaks.

The tush push is NOT dead. Long live the tush push. AP Photo/Chris Szagola

In 2016, the first year ESPN started tracking quarterback sneaks, there were 109 sneaks. By 2020, that number had doubled to 234, and by 2023, the year after the Eagles ramped up their own sneak usage and leaned into the tush push, the leaguewide sneak usage plateaued at triple the 2016 number: 341 sneaks.

Even if passed, the proposal wouldn’t have prevented the quarterback sneak, just the pushing aspect, and, as the Eagles said multiple times during their advocacy for this play at league meetings this offseason, their success rate has actually been higher on sneaks without pushing.

According to ESPN data, which has identified push sneaks since the 2022 season, the Eagles have run only six regular non-push sneaks in the last three seasons, compared with 124 push sneaks.

Their success rate on regular sneaks is 83.3%, 2.3 percentage points lower than their success rate when pushing.

Lament the continued legality of the tush push if you must, or choose to celebrate its best qualities: The tush push is innovative; it’s efficient; and it requires more skill and technique than you might think. The tush push is far from dead … long live the tush push?

The first one

— Kalyn Kahler (@kalynkahler) May 14, 2025

Contrary to popular belief, the first Eagles tush push actually happened as early as 2021. Stoutland and his O-line group led by center Jason Kelce had been a fan of the quarterback sneak well before Sirianni arrived as the head coach that January. During previous coach Doug Pederson’s tenure, the Eagles had pushed the boundaries of going for it on fourth down and had used quarterback sneaks with the mobile, 6-foot-5 and 230-plus-pound Wentz to convert many of them.

In 2021, Hurts’ first full season as the Eagles’ starting quarterback, that short-yardage philosophy continued. And in the first quarter of a Week 11 game at home vs. the Saints, tight end Dallas Goedert motioned left across the formation and then came back to the right to settle in just behind Hurts. At the snap, he pushed to help Hurts get the yard needed.

It was the only one of their 18 sneaks that year that featured a planned push. But the next year, the Eagles nearly doubled their sneak total, running 35 sneaks in a year that ended in the Super Bowl, 16 of which were push sneaks. They even ran six sneaks in the Super Bowl loss.

The pushing started in earnest in Week 1 of 2022, with Goedert motioning and pushing. Then Philadelphia tried out different variations of pushers throughout the 2022 season — lining up a running back behind Hurts, and then debuting the now-familiar formation with a player on each of Hurts’ hips (similar to what Snyder’s Kansas State teams did) against Dallas in Week 6.

The one that wasn’t

The Eagles pull off the fake tush push 😂

The Eagles pulled off a fake sneak more than once, and that’s what made the tush push a thing of game-planning beauty. When defenses committed to stopping it (look closely and you can see defensive tackle Jonathan Allen throw himself sideways, almost lying on the ground to stop the offensive line), it left them vulnerable on the outside for a play like this.

The one that made the Bills really mad

Eagles center Jason Kelce on @SportsRadioWIP said that the Bills Jordan Phillips should be fined for this play on Sunday. Phillips jumped offside as Philly was set up to run QB sneak.

— Mike Catalana (@MikeCatalana) November 29, 2023

Another beautiful thing about this play is that even when it doesn’t work, it still works. All the Eagles had to do here was line up in a formation that resembled the tush push and be in a short-yardage situation, and Bills defensive tackle Jordan Phillips got hot to stop it, left early and plowed through Eagles offensive lineman Cam Jurgens. The officials called an encroachment penalty for 5 yards, and Kelce argued that it should have been a personal foul for 15 yards.

At the combine this February, Niners general manager John Lynch, who is a member of the league’s competition committee, talked about how he was afraid that this play would lead to defensive players acting out. “I think back to my playing days, and I think that might have made me do things that I wouldn’t be proud of because if they aren’t going to stop it, I’ll stop it,” Lynch told reporters. “That kind of trickles into players that have a certain mentality [in their] head. I’m just being truthful there. I hope that’s never the case.”

— Awful Announcing (@awfulannouncing) October 13, 2023

Kansas City has never run a tush push with Patrick Mahomes, but it did run one of the coolest variations of the play on special teams, which is surprising because ever since having Mahomes and a successful offense, the Chiefs’ special teams unit has been pretty conservative. The only time Kansas City has ever tried this play was out of a field goal formation while up 3-0 in the second quarter against Denver in 2023.

Just before the snap, holder Tommy Townsend ran up to the line of scrimmage, and at the same time, tight end Noah Gray and offensive lineman Wanya Morris ran in from the wings. Gray took the direct snap, and Morris and Townsend pushed him forward.

This looked awesome, but the Chiefs ran this on fourth-and-2, and Gray gained just 1 yard.

The one where the Jaguars countered

Nov. 3, 2024
Jaguars show that defense can push too. pic.twitter.com/L85FTQAM4Y

— Kalyn Kahler (@kalynkahler) May 14, 2025

The 2024 Jaguars were not a good team, but they can hang a banner for stopping two Eagles tush pushes on 2-point conversion attempts in Week 9 of last season — and the way they did it was something not many other defenses have tried to do. The argument for the tush push’s place in the NFL is that football is all about innovation as a necessity. Offenses put stress on defenses to find ways to counter their creativity, and that’s how the game grows and stays interesting. The Jaguars found a way to push back on the Eagles — literally — by lining up two linebackers close behind their defensive linemen, particularly the one lined up across from the Eagles center. Stopping the Eagles’ center from getting the low drive is the key to stopping the play, and the Jaguars committed their linebackers to backing up their defensive linemen instead of trying to time the snap and leap over the top to stop Hurts’ momentum, as most other teams did.

At the league meeting in March, multiple head coaches said the tush push shouldn’t be allowed because pushing defensive linemen isn’t allowed on field goal block attempts. What many of those coaches didn’t mention is that pushing defensive players on a regular offensive down is legal and a strategy they could have employed.

“The defense can push as well,” ex-Eagles OC Moore said in March. “As it’s written right now, it’s not like the defense can’t push as well.”

The Jaguars showed on tape what can happen when you counter the Eagles with their own attack. But Falcons coach Raheem Morris said at the March meeting that he wasn’t comfortable doing that with his defensive players.

“I don’t like the play because of what I have to do to try to stop it and for me to have someone push a human into another human, potentially what could happen, I don’t like. … I don’t want to do what I think is necessary to try to stop it.”

The one that was a six-in-a-row ‘s— show’

“Encroachment, defense No. 93. Washington has been advised that at some point the referee can award a score if this type of behavior happens again. For now, it’s a replay of second down.” – Shawn Hochuli, after Fox’s Mike Pereira alluded to this as well.pic.twitter.com/jZcDABVdMv

— Awful Announcing (@awfulannouncing) January 26, 2025

The Eagles love to run this play back-to-back, because they are rarely stopped for no gain, so if they need a yard on third down and get a half a yard, that sets them up for a positive fourth-down opportunity to run it back.

Philadelphia ran a push sneak three times in a row against Arizona in 2022, illustrating that commitment. Then, this past January, they repeated the play six consecutive times after four Commanders defensive penalties nullified second down, took a minute off the game clock, and ultimately prompted referee Shawn Hochuli to issue an official warning to Washington that if it committed another “palpably unfair act,” he would award the Eagles a touchdown.

“I was aware that that may happen if there’s a continued penalty over and over,” Washington coach Dan Quinn said at the March league meeting. “But we’re not going to concede to anything. That’s not how we get down. So that meant, we’re going to go fight for it to the last second of the last play of the last moment.”

Again, the beauty of this play is that, just by threatening it, the Eagles already won. And for the Commanders, taking the consequences of half the distance to the goal to live another play was better than surrendering a touchdown, which they ultimately did on the sixth tush push attempt, after Hochuli’s warning.

It was a series that made the tush push a real target for elimination because of that “pace of play” logic, that this isn’t a watchable television product. One source familiar with the competition committee’s thinking told ESPN the series was a “s— show” that created real momentum for banning the play.

The one where Josh Allen loved the left guard

When Hurts runs this play, he usually goes straight forward, following his center immediately at the snap, and the Eagles’ offensive line gets such a push — or, as they called it, a “knockback” — that Hurts can just ride the wave forward. But the quarterback who has run the second-most tush pushes does it a little differently, and it would ultimately cost him in this case. Instead of moving directly forward at the snap, Bills quarterback Allen took the snap and often waited a split second before stepping to his left and following the space created by Buffalo’s left guard. According to TruMedia, Allen has stepped to his left on 42 of 68 push sneak attempts.

Kansas City sniffed out this tendency ahead of the AFC title game and prepared for it.

“I mean, from our defensive side, he always QB sneaks to our right,” Chiefs safety Nazeeh Johnson told SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Sports Radio. “So every time we see him in QB sneak formation, we know he’s coming to the right side every time. It’s a hundred percent, 10-for-10, he’s going to that side.”

The Bills converted only two of five sneak attempts in the game, including one that drew an unfavorable and much-debated Buffalo spot on fourth down.

The most recent one … but NOT the last one

The Eagles ran only one tush push in their second Super Bowl appearance ATP (After Tush Push) because they simply didn’t need it any more than that against the Chiefs. The Eagles rarely found themselves in late-down, short-yardage situations, and because they got off to a quick lead, they could settle for field goals on fourth down.

Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones laid himself out horizontally in an all-out effort to stop the play at the goal line, similar to the Commanders’ defensive line technique.

Philadelphia’s first touchdown in Super Bowl LIX nearly turned out to be its last tush push. But after Wednesday’s vote, the play lives on. Expect the controversy to endure as well.

Crypto Trader Dumps XRP Holdings For Ethereum, Explains Why

by admin May 22, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

A prominent crypto trader on the X (formerly Twitter) platform has made waves on social media after revealing that he sold off all of his XRP holdings in order to buy Ethereum. The trader who is known as Doctor Profit on social media revealed this to his over 400,000 followers on the platform, along with reasons why he made this move and what he expects going forward.

Dump XRP For 600% Gains To Buy Ethereum

Doctor Profit had first revealed on May 19 his intent to begin selling his XRP stash. In this initial post, he revealed that all of his XRP was bought at very low prices between $0.2 and $0.5, putting his entry very low. At the current price at the time, the crypto trader was sitting on a profit of approximately 608% at this point.

This was when he told his followers that he intended to start selling his XRP investments after holding onto them for three years. He further explained that he was only selling XRP and no other cryptocurrencies or even Bitcoin. Rather, he was selling to be able to buy more later at a much cheaper price.

Then in a follow-up post on May 20, Doctor Profit finally revealed his full plan when it comes to selling XRP. Apparently, the crypto trader had decided to dump all of his XRP in order to buy Ethereum, a move which he referred to as “a matter of capital appreciation.” The reason for this is because Doctor Profit believes that the Ethereum price could see a major increase in the near term.

As for XRP, he explained that selling his stash did not mean that he expected the XRP price to crash. Rather, it was because holding XRP didn’t make sense in the short term and was a more long-term investment. Thus, he plans to take the gains made from the Ethereum investment and then reinvest them at a later date when a good entry is presented. But for now, Doctor Profit confirmed that all of the profits made from his XRP investment in the last three years have now been moved into Ethereum.

Bullish Outlook For The Market Remains

Back during the decline that plagued the crypto market from January to March 2025, Doctor Profit was one of the analysts who called the price bottom when Bitcoin had dropped to $77,000. From there, the analyst had called that Bitcoin would rebound back above $100,000, maintaining that a new all-time high is possible. So far, his $100,000 prediction has come to pass, and the all-time high forecast was completed after Bitcoin breached $109,300 on Wednesday.

For Ethereum, the analyst’s bullish thesis has been around for a while. He has previously called Ethereum the best opportunity as its technical, on-chain, and psychological indicators have turned bullish. He believes that the Ethereum price can rise as high as $7,600, with a lot of liquidity pooling around $4,000.

Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment Will Show ‘How The People Contended With The Threat Of The Original Ganondorf’

by admin May 22, 2025

Last month, Nintendo and Koei Tecmo announced that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is the next mainline Zelda musou game and is launching on Nintendo Switch 2 this winter. Now, a Koei Tecmo studio head has pulled back the curtains on what players can expect from the narrative of this game, revealing Age of Imprisonment will show how the people of Hyrule defeated Ganondorf before the events of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

In a new Creator’s Voice behind-the-scenes video for Age of Imprisonment called “Beyond the Legend,” Koei Tecmo producer Ryota Matsushita and Koei Tecmo triple-A games studio head Yosuke Hayashi discuss the upcoming game, what’s to unfold in the story, and how the Switch 2 makes it possible. Hayashi reveals Age of Imprisonment shows the full story of the Imprisoning War, which is only seen in fragmented chunks in Tears of the Kingdom.

“This game takes place during the Imprisoning War, which is shown in fragments in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom,” he says. “In this Hyrule Warriors game, you’ll see how the people contended with the threat of the original Ganondorf.”

Matsushita picks up this thread, stating, “As a story that you can only fully experience here, it doesn’t just depict the battles of the Imprisoning War via a Warriors game; it also shows the kingdom of Hyrule after Princess Zelda is sent back in time. You’ll also get to know the four masked sages from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.”

Elsewhere in the video, Matsushita and Hayashi discuss how the Switch 2 makes Age of Imprisonment possible. They explain that the console’s power allows the game to feature more enemies on screen and maintain a high and stable frame rate (which looks like 60 FPS in the video).

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment hits Nintendo Switch 2 sometime this winter.

In the meantime, read about how Nintendo has a plan for “continuous flow” of Switch 2 through the holidays, and then check out the Switch games getting free updates on Switch 2. After that, read Game Informer’s hands-on preview of the Switch 2.

by admin May 22, 2025

If your desk setup is starting to feel like a collection of tangled cables, scattered peripherals, and daily plug-unplug chaos, you’re not alone. It can be hard to keep things neat and straight, and you probably don’t want to worry about having to plug in and unplug things just to be able to work each day. The easy solution is a dock. If you want to save big on a dock that you can use every day, you should head to Amazon and make sure you take advantage of this sale.

Right now, Amazon has the HP G5 USB-C Dock and 11-in-1 Adapter for $120, down from its usual price of $230. That’s $110 off and a discount of 48%.

See at Amazon

Simplify your setup with a multifaceted dock

This dock is designed to keep your entire setup running through a single USB-C connection. That means one cable goes into your laptop, and everything else so your monitors, keyboard, mouse, external storage, and even power, stays connected through the dock. It helps cut back on the daily hassle of plugging in multiple accessories and instantly makes your workspace feel more polished.

This dock is the perfect solution for anyone who works with multiple displays. You can connect it to up to three external displays, which is a big plus. You can get much more done when you have additional screen real estate to deal with, and you can differentiate between different products, too. There’s also plenty of room to plug in your USB accessories, a wired network connection, and even headphones, all without cluttering up your laptop’s built-in ports.

It’s also powerful enough to keep your laptop charged while you work. With up to 100W of power delivery through USB-C, you don’t need a separate charger crowding your outlet or desk space. Everything runs through the dock, which simplifies your setup and cuts down on cable mess.

What’s great is that this dock isn’t limited to HP laptops, even though it’s a branded item. You don’t have to worry about just sticking to that type of computer. It actually works with a broad range of USB-C and Thunderbolt-enabled devices, so if you switch between machines or use something from another brand, it’ll likely still work just fine. For IT teams managing a fleet of laptops, it even supports network manageability features that make firmware updates and remote access smoother.

At $120, the HP USB-C Dock G5 is a practical upgrade for anyone looking to clean up their workspace and boost productivity. It’s not flashy, but once you have it, you won’t want to go back.

Watch Blizzard, hopefully, distract you from Diablo 4 Season 8 by showing off what’s coming with Season 9 in dev livestream

by admin May 22, 2025

Blizzard is hoting the latest edition of its Campfire Chat developer livestream tonight. This one is going to be all about Diablo 4’s upcoming Season 9. Or, more specifically, it’s going to cover the patch 2.3.0 PTR (Public Test Realm), which will be opening its doors soon.

Among many other things, this is the show where the developer will outline why a PTR is needed at all, what to expect from the next major update/Season, as well as how to get involved.

To see this content please enable targeting cookies.

Manage cookie settings

If you feel like it’s a little too soon for a new PTR already in Diablo 4, you’re not wrong. We’re only a couple of weeks into Season 8, which is clearly going to be a shorter season compared to previous ones.

Season 8 had its own PTR for patch 2.2.0 back in March, and Season 9’s PTR is likely going to start before the end of this month, or early in June. The start date for the 2.3.0 PTR is just one of the things Blizzard developers will cover in tonight’s livestream.

Another topic of discussion is going to be Dungeon Escalation, the new activity coming to Diablo 4 with Season 9. Each season has a rotating activity, and this one is going to be next season’s version of that.

As always, this is going to be a dense show that ends with a Q&A segment. It all kicks off at 11am PT, 2pm ET, 7pm UK. You’ll be able to watch it on YouTube, Twitch, Twitter, and TikTok. We have the Twitch player embedded below, too, for your convenience.

Google Sets New AI Standards, OpenAI Gets Physical with Jony Ive, MIND of Pepe Ready for Takeover

by admin May 22, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

AI may finally be crossing into the world of physical devices, just as Google rolls out a jaw-dropping arsenal of advanced AI tools.

Amid the frenzy, Mind of Pepei is leading its own AI-powered uprising, entering the final stage or a presale that’s already pulled in a cool $9.8 million.

So, what exactly does this mean for the future of AI and crypto? Let’s get into it.

Google Raises Bar for Generative AI

It’s only been around for a few years, but generative AI is growing up at an accelerated rate. Google might have just super-charged that growth rate.

To date, AI has been able to deliver video, images, text, voiceovers, and more. But often, putting those together – into, say, a short company promotional video – requires using a suite of tools in unison.

Google drops that suite down to four core tools:

  • Gemini is Google’s all-in-one solution, with web search results, video generation, and more
  • Veo 3 delivers integrated video generation, able to produce videos, soundtracks, and more all in a single prompt
  • Flow is a Veo 3-based video editing tool, relying on the same tools for editing rather than producing videos
  • Imagen boosts image generation to the next level, the next iteration of photo production, prioritizing photo-realism but capable of integrating disparate elements

The full potential of the Gemini toolset is impressive, with fewer tools delivering a more integrated result for users.

But OpenAI, creator of the now-ubiquitous ChatGPT, has stepped up its own game.

OpenAI Turns to Apple’s Designer for AI Hardware

OpenAI might be looking to the next stage of AI’s lifecycle; bringing AI into the real world with AI-powered devices.

To help design the hardware, they turned to someone who helped design the last wave of world-hanging devices: Jony Ive, designer of the iPhone.

The $6.5B deal between Jony Ive and OpenAI has the potential to shape the move from ‘AI as a cool new internet trick’ to ‘AI is fundamental part of daily life.’

That’s what Apple did with the iPhone (and iPods, and iMac, and i-Everything else), and it’s what OpenAI wants to do with ChatGPT.

And just remember – it worked out pretty well so far for Apple.

Will Jony Ive work his magic again? OpenAI hopes so.

Over on the crypto front, MIND of Pepe is working to integrate two unlikely allies to break through on another frontier of AI’s development.

MIND of Pepe: AI Agent for Long-Awaited AI-Crypto Breakthrough

MIND of Pepe ($MIND) launches an AI-powered meme coin. Why?

Because a memecoin brings momentum, energy, and captures the crypto zeitgeist. Everyone loves the best meme coins, and they have huge potential for growth.

At the same time, AI agents can learn from social media, interact with the blockchain, and learn from the hivemind.

MIND of Pepe has already launched on X, learning more by the moment about crypto and the crypto market as a whole.

‘You don’t own enough crypto, NFTs’

by admin May 22, 2025

Cryptocurrencies and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) can help investors protect their eroding purchasing power during an era of exponential currency debasement, according to analysts and industry leaders.

Investing in digital assets is becoming increasingly important in the “world of the exponential age and currency debasement,” according to Raoul Pal, founder and CEO of Global Macro Investor.

“You don’t own enough crypto. When you do, you don’t own enough NFT’s, as art is upstream of wealth. Both will never be this cheap again,” Pal said.

NFTs are “the single best long term store of wealth I know and you get to buy it before network effects kick in,” he added in another response.

Source: Raoul Pal

“There is some validity to the statement that NFTs, and in extension art, become a vehicle for the wealthy once a certain level of wealth is reached,” wrote Nicolai Sondergaard, research analyst at Nansen, calling it a “natural move” for asset diversification.

“For traders and investors, further down the wealth curve, NFTs are partially about speculating on future returns,” he told Cointelegraph, adding that NFTs also benefit from the allure of strong communities, beyond just wealth creation.

Art NFTs may see a resurgence as “digital ownership gains acceptance among younger, tech-savvy cohorts,” if collections manage to move past the “speculative fervor,” according to Anndy Lian, author and intergovernmental blockchain expert.

Still, Lian said broader adoption depends on blockchain networks improving scalability and security to “instill confidence.” He added that art NFTs “must transcend hype, anchoring value in cultural significance or utility.”

Some digital artists made millions of dollars through NFTs. Digital artist Mike Winkelmann, also known as Beeple, auctioned his “Everydays: The First 5000 Days,” NFT artwork for a record-breaking $69 million in March 2021.

Meanwhile, the largest NFT collections continue to lack upside momentum, unable to recover toward their 2021 highs.

CryptoPunks, the largest NFT collection by market capitalization, is currently trading at a floor price of 46 Ether (ETH), 59% down from its peak of 113.9 ETH, recorded on Oct. 9, 2021, NFTpricefloor data shows.

NFT market set for recovery in early 2026, after Bitcoin cycle top

Despite the temporary lack of interest, NFTs could be poised to see more momentum after the profits from Bitcoin’s (BTC) cycle top start rotating into other digital assets.

“That likely puts the peak of the NFT market in Q1 2026, but don’t expect a repeat of the 21/22 euphoria that we saw in NFTs,” according to Yehudah Petscher, strategist at CryptoSlam NFT data platform and SlamAI.

“We’re likely an entire cycle away from NFTs having a parabolic run,” Petscher told Cointelegraph, adding:

“There is a perfect storm brewing for 2030: BTC at $1 million, a matured metaverse, AI reshaping labor economics (whether through universal basic income or universal high income, falling production costs, etc), AR/VR adoption, and NFT ownership equaling ownership of a brand.”

However, the previous NFT bull market was driven largely by metaverse speculation and wealthy traders, Petscher noted — factors that are mostly absent in the current cycle.

This article does not contain investment advice or recommendations. Every investment and trading move involves risk, and readers should conduct their own research when making a decision.

Sui Ecosystem Rocked by $200M ‘Oracle Manipulation Attack’ on Its Largest DEX

by admin May 22, 2025

In brief

  • Attackers exploited vulnerabilities in Cetus Protocol’s smart contracts using spoof tokens to manipulate price calculations and drain liquidity pools on Sui’s largest decentralized exchange.
  • Popular Sui tokens including Lofi, Sudeng, and Squirtle plummeted 76-97% within an hour, while the Cetus token itself dropped 53% as 46 Sui tokens posted double-digit losses.
  • The attacker has $164 million in a Sui wallet and already bridged $61.5 million in USDC to Ethereum, with Cetus pausing contracts and investigations ongoing while Sui’s native token surprisingly rose 2.2%.

The Sui ecosystem has been rocked to its core by an exploit on the network’s largest decentralized exchange Cetus which has seen $200 million stolen from liquidity pools.

Notable Sui meme coins like Lofi (LOFI), Sudeng (HIPPO), and Squirtle (SQUIRT) tanked 76%, 80%, and 97% in just an hour. And the popular Cetus token dropped 53% over the same time frame. According to DEX Screener, 46 Sui tokens have made double digit losses over the past 24 hours.

“The attacker exploited vulnerabilities in Cetus Protocol’s smart contracts by deploying spoof tokens to manipulate price curves and reserve calculations,” Deddy Lavid, CEO and co-founder of security firm Cyvers, told Decrypt. “This allowed them to extract real assets from multiple liquidity pools, including the SUI/USDC pool. The stolen funds are being converted into USDC and bridged to other chains.”

PeckShield estimates that approximately $200 million worth of assets were stolen due to this exploit. The attacker currently has $164 million sitting in a Sui wallet and has bridged $61.5 million worth of USDC onto Ethereum.

A SUI spokesperson declined to comment on the exploit when reached by Decrypt, instead referring to what the team had already shared publicly on X.

In response, Cetus paused its smart contracts to prevent any further losses. The exchange issued a statement on social media stating that an “incident” had been detected and that its team was investigating it.

🚨Alert Announcement 🚨

There was an incident detected on our protocol and our smart contract has been paused temporarily for safety. The team is investigating the incident at the moment. A further investigation statement will be made soon. We are grateful for your patience.

— Cetus🐳 (@CetusProtocol) May 22, 2025

Leaked Discord messages suggest that the Cetus team believe the exploit came as a result of a “bug” in its oracle. Users on social media seemed skeptical of this, but Cyvers told Decrypt the aforementioned exploit is called an “oracle manipulation attack.”

This is because the attackers were able to manipulate the oracle to misrepresent the price via the deployed spoof tokens.

The attacker has been moving funds using the USDC stablecoin. Circle has caught flak from industry experts, like on-chain sleuth ZachXBT, for its slow reaction in freezing funds related to hacks—taking more than five hours to block funds connected to the Bybit hack in February.

(And for what it’s worth, USDT issuer Tether has had similar complaints for its fund freeing process leaving a window for attackers to avoid the punishment.)

“We’ve repeatedly urged stablecoin issuers to act on our real-time alerts, yet many still choose to wait for post-mortem investigations,” Lavid said. “The pattern is clear: Action comes days too late, if it comes at all. In this threat environment, delay is indistinguishable from inaction.”

This situation is still developing with former Binance CEO Changpeng “CZ” Zhao claiming that his team are doing what they can to help Sui.

“Not a pleasant situation,” he wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “Hope everyone stay SAFU!”

Surprisingly, Sui’s price hasn’t been too badly affected by news of the exploit. The token has actually risen 2.2% over the past 24 hours, according to CoinGecko.
