Countdown Begins: Five Potential XRP ETFs Could Define October

by admin September 28, 2025

The next few weeks heading into October could be significant for XRP and the rest of the cryptocurrency market amid expectations of a potential spot ETF launch for XRP in the U.S. with six applications in the spotlight.

According to Nate Geraci, the president of NovaDius Wealth Management, October might be crucial to watch given the recent developments in the last two weeks, including the first ETF offering spot XRP exposure, the SEC approving generic listing standards, the first index-based spot crypto ETF and Vanguard’s U-turn on crypto ETFs. “Get ready for October,” Geraci said.

In the past week, the first ETF offering exposure to spot XRP in the U.S., REX-Osprey XRP ETF, XRPR, was launched. Options trading was later added to XRPR ETF this week.

This week, Hashdex Nasdaq Crypto Index U.S. ETF was “approved” under SEC’s new generic listing standards, which might include other crypto assets apart from Bitcoin and Ethereum, such as XRP.

What to expect in October?

Between Oct. 18 and 25, the SEC is set to rule on six major spot XRP ETF applications. These include Grayscale XRP ETF (Oct. 18), 21Shares core XRP Trust ETF (Oct. 19), Bitwise XRP ETF (Oct. 22), Canary Capital XRP ETF (Oct. 23), WisdomTree XRP ETF (Oct. 24) and CoinShares XRP ETF (Oct. 23).

🔥 XRP ETFs could bring huge institutional inflows and push $XRP to new ATH $8-$10!

In addition, Ripple’s application for a national bank charter (under review by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency) is also expected to be decided in October.

The XRP community remains optimistic, expecting XRP ETFs to attract large institutional inflows to XRP. This is not far fetched as CME Group’s XRP futures topped $1 billion in open interest (the fastest growth of any crypto derivatives contract), highlighting institutional demand.

CME Group has announced the upcoming launch of options on XRP and Micro XRP futures scheduled for Oct. 13.

PS5 Is Sony’s Most ‘Successful’ Generation Ever And It’s Not Close

by admin September 28, 2025

Will Resident Evil 9 struggle on Switch 2? Is the new Borderlands 4 patch really broken or do players just need to be better at compiling their shaders? And where the hell is the next Metal Gear Solid Master Collection? Welcome to another edition of Morning Checkpoint, Kotaku‘s daily roundup of gaming news and culture. While all the big gaming showcases have wrapped up, there are still a few more days of Tokyo Game Show proper until the last big gaming festival of the year wraps up. Then it’s on to the fall’s next batch of big game releases. Yes, I’m talking about you Digimon Story: Time Stranger.

PlayStation boss touts PS5 as Sony’s most lucrative gaming box yet

Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Hideaki Nishino was the keynote speaker at Tokyo Game Show 2025 and his topic was the PlayStation Store. Covering its evolution and current financial dominance, he flashed a chart showing how revenues have kept climbing with each new console. What’s interesting is that this is happening despite PS5 sales tracking only slightly ahead of the PS4. So where is the growth coming from? In part its the explosion in microtransactions in free-to-play games like Fortnite.

Nishino-san says PlayStation 5 is the most successful generation in PlayStation history. pic.twitter.com/E5feupYHGr

— Geoff Keighley (@geoffkeighley) September 25, 2025

It’s also the expansion of subscription services like PS Plus. And then there’s the fact that people are still playing on PS4, so even though the install bases are similar, the overall footprint of active PlayStation players spending money is seemingly larger. Plus the consoles keep getting more expensive. With graphs like this, did Sony really need to raise the price of the PS5 another $50 nearly five years after it launched? Either way, it’s an interesting data point amid debates about console makers going platform-agnostic. Will PS6 just be a PC with a PlayStation logo on it, or is Sony, like Nintendo, married to the hardware business long-term?

Hyper Light Drifter dev’s next 2D action game is out in November

Possessor(s) is Heart Machine’s first stab at the Metroidvania formula and arrives the same year its loot shooter, Hyper Light Breaker, entered Early Access. There’s a new trailer showing off more of the game about a high school student who forms a pact with a demon to uncover the mystery behind a catastrophe that’s befallen Sanzu city. It’s out on PS5 and PC on November 11.

One of the last significant updates for The Witcher 3 has been delayed

CD Projekt Red’s fantasy RPG was supposed to get cross-platform mod support across PC and consoles before the end of the year. The update will now arrive in 2026, but with no clear window for when players can expect it. Once it finally arrives, PS5 and Xbox Series X players will finally get to experience all of the extra fan-made content modders created for the PC version.

Gearbox has some advice if Borderlands 4 is running poorly for you after the latest patch

The studio blames some initial reports of even worse performance following the new update on shader compilation. Basically, the game has to recompile all of the shaders again, which can mess things up while running in the background. “Stuttering issues should resolve over time as the shaders continue to compile in the background while playing,” the studio wrote on X. “If you’re still experiencing issues after 15 minutes of continuous play, you can also clear your shader cache via your video card manufacturer’s approved method.”

One fan offered their own tip: “quit the game once after launching and relaunch it. Now travel into a zone and back out (Idolator Sol’s or a Vault will work) this should compile a BUNCH of shaders and start improving the smoothness.” Big-budget gaming in 2025 folks!

Resident Evil 9 looks pretty decent in first Switch 2 hands-ons

Requiem is the first game in the survival horror series to come day-and-date to a Nintendo platform. Early impressions seem to be that while the game looks and runs best on PC and high-end consoles, the Switch 2 version still performs admirably, especially in hand-held mode. So far both Cyberpunk 2077 and Star Wars Outlaws have both been better than expected on Nintendo’s new console. Hopefully other third-party ports can continue the trend.

A Metal Gear Solid 4 remaster will arrive eventually

Fans waiting for news on the status of the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 got an update via a panel at Tokyo Game Show. According to a translation by X user Kuwabara357, it will still take a little longer for the next batch of games to get ported. “The project is moving forward properly, and we believe it’s shaping up to be something enjoyable really,” Konami producer Noriaki Okamura reportedly said. “So please wait just a bit more, more information is coming.”

Payday 2 dev apologizes for price-gouging fans

The Payday 2 Infamous Collection bundle, which contains every piece of DLC the multiplayer heist shooter has ever received, recently jumped in price from $118 to $170. Starbreeze also announced a new $5-a-month subscription option for players to access all of it. Fans obviously thought the timing of this was a bit cynical.

“The community has been pretty clear about how it looks next to the subscription launch—and they’re not wrong, it’s terrible timing,” Starbreeze’s Gustav Nisser told PC Gamer. “We definitely didn’t handle this right, and we’ll be apologizing to the community. Hopefully there will be at least some acceptance that this was an honest mistake.”

2,729,065,817,171 SHIB Moved in 24 Hours as Shiba Inu Attempts Breakout

by admin September 28, 2025

  • SHIB’s breakout attempt threatened again?
  • Another catch for SHIB’s next price action

The crypto market has kick-started the weekend with shifting investor sentiment, which has seen prices of many cryptocurrencies record impressive gains.

Shiba Inu also followed the trend, with its price seeing a brief bounce back above $0.00001190 in the last day. However, there has been no noticeable increase in its on-chain activity over the last day, according to data provided by CryptoQuant.

The data shows that only about 2.7 trillion SHIB tokens have been transferred across exchanges and cold wallets as of Sept. 26, a notable decline from the 3 trillion volume recorded in the previous day.

SHIB’s breakout attempt threatened again?

Amid the recurring market bloodbath witnessed across the broad crypto market, Shiba Inu is seen repeatedly shattering the hopes of traders who have remained optimistic for a breakout again.

While it has continued to attempt a surge above the key resistance level at $0.000013, SHIB’s price has seen a major rejection with its price falling as low as $0.0000115 in the previous day.

While it has resumed to the positive side today, Shiba Inu has shown a sharp resurgence in its price, recording daily gains of 2.14%.

With the price of Shiba Inu recording an intraday high of $0.00001198 on Saturday, investors are hopeful that the second-largest meme token by market capitalization is headed for another breakout, which could possibly push its price toward erasing another zero.

However, with no substantial increase in the total value of SHIB tokens transferred in a single day, investors are worried that the ongoing price rally might be short-lived, seeing the asset record another failure on its latest breakout attempt.

Another catch for SHIB’s next price action

It is also important to note that the slowdown in the amount of SHIB transferred over the last day may not be entirely bearish for the token’s next price action.

Oftentimes, declines in this crucial metric have also preceded bullish rallies. The reduction in the SHIB transfer volume could mean that only few tokens have been sent to majors exchanges like Coinbase, signaling reduced sell pressure and stronger conviction among investors to hold their assets for longer.

As such, all hopes are not entirely lost for SHIB’s next breakout as this could be the beginning for the token to achieve its next price target.

Crypto Miner TeraWulf to Raise $3B in Google-Backed Debt Deal to Expand Data Centers

by admin September 28, 2025

Crypto mining firm TeraWulf (WULF) is planning to raise $3 billion in debt to expand its data center operations in a deal supported by Google, as the AI infrastructure arms race intensifies.

The company, Bloomberg reports citing TeraWulf CEO Patrick Fleury, is working with Morgan Stanley to arrange the funding, which could launch as early as next month through high-yield bonds or leveraged loans.

Credit rating agencies are evaluating the deal, and Google’s support may help it secure a stronger credit rating than would be typical for the firm.

The AI industry’s hunger for data center space, chips, and electricity has attracted crypto miners unlikely partners, which already control power-intensive infrastructure that can be repurposed for AI workloads.

Google, which recently increased its backstop for TeraWulf to $3.2 billion, now holds a 14% stake in the company. That support helped AI cloud platform Fluidstack expand its use of a TeraWulf-run data center in New York in August.

Other crypto-native firms are following suit. Cipher Mining struck a similar agreement with Google and Fluidstack this week. Google will also backstop $1.4 billion in obligations tied to that deal and take an equity stake in Cipher.

TeraWulf shares dropped around 1.3% in Friday’s trading session and were unchanged in after-hours trading.

Ultrahuman Home Review: Overpriced and Underbaked

by admin September 28, 2025

The Ultrahuman Home is a futuristic-looking home environment monitor that tracks air quality, light, sound, and temperature. All this data flows into the Ultrahuman app on your phone, offering potential insights into your environment and suggestions on how you could make it healthier. Sadly, this mostly amounts to reminders to crack a window open, because most of the touted features are not yet present and correct, despite the rather hefty $550 price.

Ultrahuman made its name with a subscription-free smart ring that made biohacking more affordable (though it may soon be banned in the US due to a lawsuit from Oura). The Home monitor may seem like a strange sidestep, but if you’re going to hack your body, why not your environment? After all, we know air quality, light and sound exposure, and temperature and humidity can impact our sleep and general health.

Setup and Tracking

Photograph: Simon Hill

Taking a leaf from Apple’s playbook, the Ultrahuman Home is a 4.7-inch anodized aluminum block with rounded corners (it looks like a Mac Mini). There’s an Ultrahuman logo and light sensor on top, a power button and LED on the front, and a USB-C port on the back flanked by privacy switches to turn off the microphone or connectivity (Wi-Fi and Bluetooth).

Setup is super simple: Plug it in and add it via the Ultrahuman app. The Home gets its own tab at the bottom of the Ultrahuman app, alongside the ring, and if you tap on it, you’ll get a score out of 100, indicating how healthy your environment is. Scroll down for a breakdown of the four scores that combine to create your overall Home score (air quality, environmental comfort, light exposure, and UV exposure).

Ultrahuman via Simon Hill

Ultrahuman via Simon Hill

To compile all this data, the Ultrahuman Home is packed with sensors:

  • Air quality sensors to track things like volatile organic compounds (VOCs), typically released by cleaning fluids, and carbon dioxide levels (CO₂) that might indicate poor ventilation. They also watch out for formaldehyde (HCHO), carbon monoxide (CO), and smoke.
  • Particulate matter sensors to track tiny particles in the air, including things like dust, pollen, mold spores, and particles released by cooking. Covering PM1.0, PM2.5, and PM10 (the number refers to the size in microns), the Home warns if you’re in danger of breathing these particles in.
  • Temperature and humidity sensors to track how warm or cool it is and how much moisture is in the air. You get a chart of the temperature in your environment and the humidity level.
  • Light sensors to track the level of light and also its makeup, including the amount of blue light and ultraviolet (UV) exposure.
  • Microphones to track the noise levels in your environment, showing noise in decibels in a chart.

Ultrahuman via Simon Hill

The data is all easy to access and read in the app. You get notifications throughout the day, including alerts if VOC levels spike or there’s prolonged noise. I set the Home up in my office for a few weeks and then tried it for another couple of weeks in my bedroom, after I moved houses. This raises the issue of where to put it, because it must be plugged in and isn’t really designed to be moved around. The bedroom seems like the best bet, but you ideally want both, though I can’t imagine springing for two or more of these to cover all your bases.

Oversensitive and Alarming

Photograph: Simon Hill

The idea of combining body and environment tracking data seems smart, but the Ultrahuman Home doesn’t really do it yet. The touted UltraSync with the Ultrahuman Ring Air is limited to basic common sense advice for now. I don’t think anyone really needs a box to tell them they will sleep better in the dark and quiet, and the air quality advice mostly amounts to opening a window for better ventilation.

Pokemon fans roast GameStop after it calls out Walmart over TCG scalpers

by admin September 28, 2025

GameStop’s attempt to criticize Walmart over Pokemon card scalpers has backfired, as fans quickly turned the spotlight on the retailer’s own trading card practices.

The official GameStop X account quote-retweeted a post showing someone hauling off a large number of Pokemon Mega Evolutions booster packs and tins. “Nothing says family fun like watching a scalper walk out with a cart full of booster packs while kids stare at bare shelves,” the company wrote. “This is why we have purchase limits. Walmart should do the same.”

While the jab at Walmart gained traction, the replies under GameStop’s post were filled with criticism. Fans accused the company of overcharging for cards, letting exclusive promos slip to resellers, and enforcing restrictive limits that still leave families empty-handed.

Fans call out GameStop “hypocrisy”

One user wrote: “Brother you have time to delete this, you’re the ‘for gamers’ store and you’re the first one overcharging for TCG. At least Walmart sells at MSRP, embarrassing.” Others referenced recent issues with Scarlet & Violet promo codes and accused employees of “backdooring” products meant for customers.

The backlash turned into a pile-on, with comments resurfacing frustrations about GameStop’s trade-in values and inconsistent supply of Pokemon products. As one viral reply put it: “lol GameStop tried to roast someone & the comments roasted them.”

The Mega Evolutions set released on September 26, 2025, introducing over 180 new cards and debuting the ultra-rare Mega Hyper Rare rarity. At the top of collectors’ chase lists are the Mega Hyper Rare versions of Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir ex, which are significantly scarcer than the Hyper Rares of past expansions. With their gilded finish, unique artwork, and extreme rarity, these cards are expected to command some of the highest prices in the set.

Crypto Trader Who Bet $1B on Bitcoin Returns With 3x Leveraged Long on ASTER

by admin September 28, 2025

James Wynn, the pseudonymous trader behind a billion-dollar BTC$109,668.71 bet earlier this year, is back. This time, Wynn is making a leveraged play on ASTER just days after being liquidated on the same token.

Wynn has opened a new 3x leveraged long on ASTER, the native token of the emerging Aster perpetuals exchange, worth over $16,000, entering at $1.97 with a liquidation level around $1.57.The move was first spotted by Onchain Lens.

While the dollar amount seems small compared to Wynn’s previous positions, the trade is likely to be a hedge on a different position on Aster itself. “I’m farming the $ASTER airdrop,” the trader wrote on X. “I believe it will be one of the biggest [in] crypto history.”

The move is Wynn’s latest high-risk bet on Hyperliquid, an onchain derivatives platform where he previously took out a $1.2 billion long on bitcoin using 40x leverage.

That position closed with a $17.5 million loss, before he flipped into a billion-dollar short. At one point, he had his entire $50 million wallet on the line.

That wild streak ended with Wynn saying he was walking away “a wynner” after netting $25 million in profit.

Seagate 2TB Hard Drive for PlayStation Returns to Nearly Free Per TB Pricing as Amazon Blows Out Remaining Stock

by admin September 28, 2025

As much as we all like to joke that “the PS5 has no games,” that’s simply not true. Mine has plenty of PS4 games on it! Ba-dum-tiss. Anyway, there are some awesome PlayStation 5 exclusives. The amazing and cute platformer Astro Bot won Game of the Year last year. Ghost of Yōtei is dropping in under a week. Plus people are still sleeping on 2021’s incredible third-person shooter roguelike Returnal. And then yes of course there really are a bunch of good PS4 games to check if you missed them last generation. A lot of them have great-looking updates too like everything going on with The Last of Us remakes and remasters. Point is there are lots of good games to play, but do you have enough storage space for all of them?

Expand you PS5 storage with the help of Seagate’s officially-licensed game drive for PlayStation consoles. This external hard drive connect to your system over USB 3.2 and will  let you boost your capacity to store games by a full 2TB. Right now, Amazon has the drive discounted down from $90 to just $80. A $10 savings may not sound like much, but that’s already halfway to getting you Hollow Knight: Silksong.

See at Amazon

The PS5 base model only comes with 800GB of internal space (1TB on the Slim), and some of that isn’t even usable to you as it’s got all the system stuff on it that makes the console work. Really you’re working with roughly. The base model really has about 667GB while the Slim has a bout 842.2GB for you to work with, saving your games. This Seagate drive will more than triple your ability to store your game data. nor more deleting and redownloading.

One Small Caveat

There is a catch though. You can’t actually play you games off this external drive. The PS5 requires much faster read/write speeds than this supports. You might be thinking, “Okay, then what the heck is the point?” Well, this drive is still helpful because you can move you games from it to your internal drive when you want to play them. This is a much, much faster process than redownloading a game over the internet. Think of it like the digital version of taking your disc off the shelf and popping it into your console. The good news is you can play your PS4 games directly off of it.

Unlike the internal SSDs available to expand your PS5 storage, this drive requires no tools to install as it just connects over USB. That makes it totally portable so you can bring it over to a friend’s house and fire it up on their PS5 if you wish. Have your whole gaming library on the go.

WWE’s Drew McIntyre Will Be Henry Cavill’s ‘Highlander’ Brother

by admin September 28, 2025

The upcoming Highlander movie will be a family affair, as wrestler Drew McIntyre has joined the film as Henry Cavill’s brother.

Per Deadline, the two-time WWE champion will play Angus MacLeod, brother to Cavill’s Connor. In the original movie, Angus was played by James Cosmo; he’s one of Connor’s cousins featured in flashbacks to the 16th-century Scottish Highlands. After Connor died and experienced his first Quickening, Angus was the only one who didn’t reject him outright and ordered their clan to banish his cousin rather than burn him at the stake.

Highlander is McIntyre’s second acting project following The Killer’s Game from February and reunites him with that film’s lead, Dave Bautista. In Highlander, the pair are joined alongside Cavill by the previously cast Russell Crowe, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Marisa Abela, and Max Zhang. Director Chad Stahelski previously stated this reboot would bring with it some new additions to the series’ mythology, including some new Immortals.

Pre-production on Highlander was delayed after Cavill’s recent training injury. Production is now set to begin in early 2026. We’ll have more news on the Highlander reboot as it emerges, which will clearly take some time while Cavill heals up.

Bitcoin No Longer First Choice as Crypto Onboarding Evolves

by admin September 28, 2025

A recent survey from data aggregator CoinGecko found that only 55% of new crypto owners started with Bitcoin in their portfolio, which analysts say is a sign of a maturing market.

A survey released on Monday of 2,549 crypto participants from data aggregator CoinGecko also found that 10% of respondents have never even bought Bitcoin (BTC).

“In other words, Bitcoin has become less likely to be the onboarding mechanism over time, as other narratives and altcoin communities have emerged and gained traction,” CoinGecko research analyst Yuqian Lim said.

Only 55% of new crypto owners who responded to CoinGecko’s survey started with Bitcoin in their portfolio. Source: CoinGecko

Altcoin entry is a sign of healthy market

Speaking to Cointelegraph, Jonathon Miller, crypto exchange Kraken’s general manager, said investors are starting to onboard through other sectors, such as DeFi or memecoins.

“This is testament to the growth and maturity of the crypto ecosystem: Bitcoin is no longer the only major asset, while access is becoming increasingly frictionless and making it easier than ever for newcomers to engage with emerging narratives,” he said.

However, he also thinks that given the growing geopolitical uncertainty, ongoing monetary debasement, and Bitcoin’s reputation as the “soundest form of money,” users who initially avoided it will likely circle back.

“Over time, many crypto market participants initially drawn in by more speculative trends will come to recognize Bitcoin’s enduring importance and adjust their portfolios accordingly.”

Why altcoins appeal

Hank Huang, CEO of quantitative trading firm Kronos Research, told Cointelegraph that investors who bypass Bitcoin on their first foray into the market are often lured by the low unit costs of altcoins and the stronger sense of community they offer.

CoinGecko’s survey found that 37% of respondents entered the space through altcoins, rather than Bitcoin.

Source: CoinGecko

“As crypto adoption grows, more investors will bypass Bitcoin, drawn to lower-cap altcoins and vibrant communities. This reflects a maturing market where diversification drives participation,” Huang said.

“The hype gravitates toward Sol, ETH, and memecoins, turning Bitcoin from the default entry point into just one of many destinations in crypto.”

Long term, Huang speculates crypto’s future won’t hinge solely on Bitcoin, as it faces competition from new frameworks, and adoption is increasingly driven by “diverse ecosystems where innovation, culture, and community matter as much as value.”

Users might be afraid they missed the boat

Tom Bruni, head of markets at investment-based social media platform Stocktwits, told Cointelegraph that a lack of understanding and Bitcoin’s frequently rising price could also be factors.

“While crypto natives believe the industry is still in its infancy, onlookers may feel that if they didn’t acquire Bitcoin at lower levels, then they’ve already missed the boat, as it has traded over $100,000,” he said.

“This recent bull run has seen significant outperformance from certain altcoins, and the desire to find a “cheaper” crypto than Bitcoin to invest in has driven people further out on the risk spectrum into the altcoin and memecoin markets.”

Bitcoin has hit multiple all-time highs in 2025, with the latest coming on Aug. 14 when it crossed over $124,000 for the first time.

At the same time, Bruni said as altcoins, stablecoins, and other related blockchain technologies grow, Bitcoin dominance should shrink, but it will likely always be an “anchor in many people’s portfolios.”

Related: Crypto needs to remove friction for the next billion users: Coinbase

“Ultimately, performance drives allocation decisions, so as long as Bitcoin’s returns keep pace with the rest of the ecosystem, it’s unlikely that more people will have zero exposure,” he said.

“Right now, performance is good, but if the market slips, it could serve as a catalyst for people to retreat into Bitcoin as the more stable and institutionalized crypto option.”

Zero Bitcoiners won’t last long

Speaking to Cointelegraph, Qin En Looi, managing partner at venture capital firm Onigiri Capital, said early adopters already own Bitcoin, while the late majority will only come in once it’s embedded in the traditional financial system, accessible through banks, wealth managers, or retirement products.

“As this infrastructure matures, we’ll likely see fewer with zero exposure, but the curve will be slower than many expect because it depends on trust being built systematically,” he said.

Ultimately, En Looi thinks Bitcoin’s role is evolving, but it won’t ever disappear, because it’s the benchmark for the broader crypto market, similar to how gold continues to be a reference point in traditional finance.

“What we’re seeing is less a decline in relevance, but the broadening of what is relevant, where stablecoins, tokenized assets, and application-layer projects now share the spotlight.”
