Hyperdrive Exploit Leads to $782K Loss on Hyperliquid Network

Hyperdrive, a lending protocol built on the Hyperliquid (HYPE) blockchain, suffered a smart contract exploit on Saturday night that resulted in losses of around $782,000. This marks the third major security incident tied to the rapidly growing Layer 1 network.

According to blockchain security firm CertiK, the attacker repeatedly exploited an arbitrary call in Hyperdrive’s router. This flaw allowed them to drain funds from two pools, the Primary USDT0 Market and Treasury USDT Market.

The attacker stole 673,000 USDT0 stablecoins and 110,244 thBILL tokens, later converting the assets into BNB and ETH before moving them off-chain.

Hyperdrive’s team responded quickly by pausing the protocol to stop further damage. In an update on X, the team said it had already identified and fixed the root cause. It also confirmed that affected accounts had been identified and promised a compensatory plan, although details of that plan remain unclear.

Hyperliquid’s track record of incidents

This is not the first time Hyperliquid’s ecosystem has faced trouble. In March, a whale manipulated the price of Solana-based memecoin JELLYJELLY, forcing the protocol to absorb $12 million in losses. An earlier manipulation event had also cost a Hyperliquid vault around $4 million.

Despite these challenges, Hyperliquid continues to gain traction in the DeFi space. Data from DeFiLlama shows Hyperdrive currently holds about $14.5 million in total value locked (TVL).

Market reaction

At the time of writing, Hyperliquid’s HYPE token of Hyperliquid is trading at $47.14, which is up 4.20% in the last 24 hours, and has a market cap of approximately $15.8 billion and a trading volume of over $3 billion, according to the CoinMarketCap Data.

The Hyperdrive hack underscores the current security risk in DeFi, including on rapidly expanding networks such as Hyperliquid. While their team has acted quickly to contain the issue, users will be watching closely for the promised compensatory measures and postmortem report.

Multiple Network launches MTP swap, $1M buyback plan

Multiple Network will replace its compromised MTP token and commit to a year-long buyback program after a third-party market maker unlocked and dumped tokens without authorization.

According to the project’s Sept. 29 announcement, trading was suspended at 2:00 AM UTC for a snapshot of balances. With the deployment of a new BEP-20 contract on BNB (BNB) Chain, MTP tokens are automatically allocated to verified on-chain and exchange holders in a 1:1 ratio.

The new MTP’s trading, withdrawals, and deposits have all resumed, as per exchanges like Binance.

Buyback plan and legal action

To restore confidence, the team committed to repurchasing at least $1 million worth of MTP within 12 months. Between $50,000 and $100,000 will be bought back monthly during the first six months, with the scale for months seven to twelve determined by market conditions.

In addition, all funds recovered through legal action against the market maker will be used for further buybacks. The team noted that judicial proceedings have reached a critical stage and updates will follow once disclosure is permitted.

Timeline of the crisis

The breach surfaced on Sept. 23 when community managers confirmed that a market maker violated lock-up terms, leading to unauthorized token dumps. Price dropped as low as $0.002101, with market cap sliding significantly. By Sept. 27, the team advised traders to use exchanges instead of on-chain markets due to contaminated supply. 

Multiple Network, a DePIN project focused on Web3 privacy acceleration for AI, had launched MTP in August with an initial listing on Binance Alpha. The token briefly reached $0.0456 but later fell more than 40% amid sell pressure and the breach. The swap and buyback plan aim to stabilize the ecosystem and protect legitimate holders going forward.

Yakuza and Like a Dragon developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has kept the franchise thriving with a constant stream of releases, and this strategy will continue through the holiday season and into 2026. Most notably, the Kiwami remake series is expanding with Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties. The remake of Yakuza 3 comes with a new spin-off game Dark Ties and features a complete overhaul of the gameplay and graphics. Yakuza Kiwami 3 is available to preorder now for $60 on PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X and PC ahead of its February 12, 2026 release.

The digital-only Yakuza Kiwami 3: Deluxe Edition throws in several extra pieces of cosmetic DLC as well, like outfits for your gang, a flip-phone customization pack, and more music to listen to in the game.

If you’re planning to play on PC, you can get a pretty good deal right now through Fanatical, as the preorder price for the standard edition is $52.79. If you feel like getting the Digital Deluxe Edition, that has also been discounted and will cost you $66 (was $75).

A remake of 2009’s Yakuza 3, Yakuza Kiwami 3 is easily the biggest remake yet when compared to previous chapters. Not only does it benefit from an even bigger jump in visual quality, but it also expands on the overall story with new cutscenes, dialogue, and side-stories. Kiryu will also be able to use a new weapon-based combat style based on Okinawan martial arts, and fans can even take part in a life-simulator minigame at his orphanage, Morning Glory, through various outdoor activities.

Other additions include a new team battle mode where Kiryu’s motorcycle gang takes on rival outfits, and most importantly, there’ll be new Karaoke songs to sing along to. But perhaps the biggest draw here is Dark ties, an all-new prequel to Yakuza Kiwami 3 that reveals more details about Yoshitaka Mine, one of Kiryu’s greatest foes and the primary antagonist of this remake. RGG says this is a gritty crime story set in Kamurocho, where Mine rises to power. The prequel also adds a new mission-based mode called Kanda Damage Control and a survival mode set in an underground fight club.

$60 | Releases December 8

If you’re looking to catch up on mainline Yakuza entries, you’re in luck as both Yakuza Kiwami 1 and 2 are being bundled together into a single physical edition for PS5 and Xbox Series X for $60. Both games are also being released on Switch 2, but the physical editions for Yakuza Kiwami and Kiwami 2 are being sold separately for $35 each.

Yakuza Kiwami is a complete remake from 2016 of the first Yakuza game that was released, retaining its story while polishing up its visuals and gameplay. One of the big changes here was that the combat system was overhauled entirely to be closer to Yakuza 0, giving Kiryu four unique fighting styles to choose from–Brawler, Beast, Rush, and Dragon–during his adventure. While Yakuza 0 featured a powerful antagonist in the form of Mr. Shakedown–an absolute brute who could be randomly encountered in the game world and would rob you blind if he beat you in a fight–Yakuza Kiwami featured the “Majima Everywhere” challenge instead.

This saw Kiryu’s rival, Goro Majima, randomly pop up during gameplay to challenge him to a street fight or minigames like darts and bowling. Defeating him would unlock new abilities in Kiryu’s Dragon style.

On a technical level, the resolution, framerate, textures, and loading times were greatly improved when compared to the original game, more substories were added, and the remake had a Japanese dub that was far superior to the English audio track. Another noteworthy improvement was to the overall story, as additional cutscenes fleshed out Yakuza’s antagonist, Nishiki, went on, providing crucial insight to his betrayal of Kiryu. The cherry on top was an expansion of Heat Actions that Kiryu could perform, giving him even more over-the-top finishers to use during combat.

Released in 2017, Yakuza Kiwami 2 saw ex-Yakuza Kiryu embroiled in a massive gang war in the Japanese underworld, following the assassination of the Tojo clan’s Fifth Chairman, Yukio Terada, by the rival Omi Alliance. At the center of this conflict was Ryuji Goda, the Dragon of Kansai who was hellbent on defeating Kiryu and cementing his legend as the only dragon of the Yakuza. The remake also added a new scenario centered around Goro Majima, revealing just what the loose cannon gangster had been up to since he left the Tojo clan to form his own construction company.

For this sequel, gameplay was also revamped significantly to be more in line with Yakuza 0 and Kiwami, and the visual upgrade also made a big difference to the bone-crunching action.

$35 each | Releases November 13

Yakuza Kiwami 1 & 2 are also coming to Switch 2, but the physical editions for Yakuza Kiwami and Kiwami 2 are being sold separately for $35 each. Nintendo Switch 2 players will be able to play their physical editions a bit earlier, though, as each game arrives November 13.

Like Kiwami 3 and Nintendo Switch 2 launch title Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut, these are Game-Key Cards that require full downloads from the eShop upon inserting the cards for the first time.

$50 | Releases December 8

Chronologically, Yakuza 0 is the first game in the franchise and it stars both Kiryu Kazuma and Goro Majima. Considered to be the very best game in the entire franchise, Yakuza 0 overhauled the series in 2015 to be leaner, meaner, and even more ambitious with its grand and sweeping narrative set during the late ’80s Japanese financial boom. The PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC versions will be priced at $50, the same MSRP as the Switch 2 edition. That said, the Switch 2 version is on sale for $37 at Amazon.

Th Director’s Cut adds several new scenes, a brand-new English voiceover, and Red Light Raid mode, a series of co-op battles where players unite to make some fast cash with their fists.

While the main campaign is thrilling, the management sim side stories where Majima gets roped into hosting a hostess club and Kiryu joins the dangerous world of real estate are also unmissable in this 3D beat-’em-up masterpiece.

More Yakuza games

Beyond the upcoming preorders, you can dive into several more Yakuza adventures as well. Each game is designed to have an episodic feel to its story, and the series has evolved over the years with new protagonists and spin-offs. In case you already have one of the two current Kiwami games in your collection, you can pick them up individually, and if you feel like taking a step back in time, you can get The Yakuza Remastered Collection. This collects Yakuza 3,4, and 5 in one bundle and it offers substantially improved performance.

Granted, these are the original games given an HD makeover, and the gameplay largely remains the same, which might result in some of these titles feeling dated. What this collection also adds is a completely redone English localization, visual and audio changes to several characters, content that was originally cut from the Western releases have been added back in, and certain problematic content has also been removed.

Yakuza 0

The other big recommendation here is Judgment and its sequel, Lost Judgment. While these games are mechanically similar to the Yakuza titles and also feature an episodic storyline structure, they focus on a new character and add investigative elements to the franchise formula. The Judgment games also deal with heavier subject matter, focusing even more on institutionalized corruption, Japan’s controversial legal system, medical malpractice, murder, and high school suicides, while weaving together a tight narrative.

In the modern era, the Yakuza games have evolved into the Like a Dragon series. These games follow a new protagonist, Ichiban Kasuga, on his adventures and so far two titles have been released–Yakuza: Like a Dragon and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. In the gameplay department, they’re a massive departure from the beat-’em-up games starring Kiryu as they use turn-based RPG elements instead. The first spin-off of this series, Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii was released earlier this year and it reverts back to the old-school action that veterans are familiar with.

Hypurr NFTs Sells For Over $400,000 Following Airdrop From Hyperliquid

Early adopters of the perpetuals-focused layer-1 blockchain Hyperliquid were rewarded handsomely on Sunday after the Hyper Foundation finally airdropped the much-awaited Hypurr non-fungible token collection. 

At the time of writing, the Hypurr NFTs have a current floor price of around 1,458 Hyperliquid (HYPE), or $68,700, according to OpenSea data.

However, there have already been eye-watering sales well above that range. The Hypurr #21 NFT with the extremely rare “Knight Ghost Armor” and “Knight Helm Ghost” traits went for 9,999 HYPE worth $467,000 on Sept. 28. 

Demand was also so high before launch that certain NFTs were sold for as much as $88,000 via OTC desks earlier this month, per DripTrade data.

Such trades were possible through DripTrade’s OTC system, which enables buyers and sellers to agree on a set sale price before launch. The seller must then fulfill the trade within seven days of receiving the NFT, or forfeit collateral put forward as part of the agreement.

Amid a cost-of-living crisis globally, the novelty of receiving a digital cat picture for free, worth more than some people’s annual salary, was not lost on the crypto community.

“CT is really a special place in hell. Average person struggling to get by or buy groceries and you have people posting their $50,000 hyperliquid cat NFTs they got for free,” said X user MoonOverlord.

While DidiTrading said: “Received an Hypurr NFT which is valued at $50k. I’m usually not good at valuing these things so I will give the market some time to find an equilibrium before I decide what I will do with it.”

Are Hypurr NFTs set to take over the market?

The Hypurr NFTs were deployed on the HyperEVM on Sept. 28 and depict cartoon cat avatars with a range of different traits.

The NFTs were primarily issued to the most active participants in the “Genesis” event in November 2024, which revolved around the launch of the HYPE token.

There are 4,600 NFTs in total, with 4,313 going to Genesis event participants and the remainder divided up among the Hyper Foundation and core project contributors, according to a Sept. 28 post on X.

“The goal of the Hypurr NFT collection was to share a memento with those who believed in and contributed early on to Hyperliquid’s growth. Each NFT is unique and captures the different moods, hobbies, tastes, and quirks of the Hyperliquid community, as depicted by Hypurr,” the Hyper Foundation post reads. 

In terms of 24-hour volume, OpenSea data shows that 952,000 HYPE have changed hands, worth around $44.6 million at current prices.

8,000% in Week: Binance Founder Ends Speculations on His Affiliation With ‘Next BNB’

Aster’s launch has been one of the most jaw-dropping crypto stories of the year. The decentralized exchange built on BNB Chain has seen daily trading volumes go above $20.8 billion, leaving Hyperliquid behind on $9.7 billion.

Its token, ASTER, shot up by more than 8,000% in just a week since its debut, peaking at $2.30 and pushing its market capitalization past $3.7 billion.

The speed of that move makes it look like Binance founder CZ might have had a hand in it. People are still wondering about the launch, the financing ties through YZi Labs and the sudden appearance of Trust Wallet partnerships. Aster was being called “the next BNB,” and some posts even said Changpeng “CZ” Zhao was part of the core team.

Is Binance and CZ behind Aster?

That rumor died down pretty quickly though as Zhao himself made it clear that he isn’t running Aster, he is just advising its builders. 

But this didn’t really change things much. As long as Binance was involved in some way, even if it was a small part, that was enough to keep the project in the eye of the public.

It’s not all about Binance ties as Aster’s got market participants hooked with a fresh product feature — hidden orders that let traders make bids and offers without showing them on-chain.

That feature, along with the fee discounts and how well it works with BNB’s ecosystem, gave it the kind of reputation that most new DEXes miss out on.

Skeptics say the exchange is washing its volume because it’s got a few big wallets holding a lot of the supply. But supporters say that the fact that BNB Chain is backing it, CZ is on the advisory board and it’s getting a lot of traction shows why people already think of Aster as the next big thing.

Still the Best Non-Display Smart Glasses

It’s never ideal being the second-most anything in the world, but there are worse places to be, too. The same applies to the Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses Gen 2, which were the second-most exciting thing that Meta announced at Meta Connect this month. The first, if popular opinion is any indication, is Meta’s Ray-Ban Display that, as you may already have gathered, has a screen in it.

But even if the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 (starting at $379) are the second-most exciting pair of smart glasses to come out of Connect, they can still be the first-most something, and in my estimation, they are. These are the best pair of Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses you can buy without a screen. Period.

What’s new in Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses Gen 2?

I’ve already covered this a few times, so I’ll keep it brief; the biggest updates in the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 are battery life and video. The size (aside from 2 grams of additional weight in Gen 2) is the same, there are all the same features as the original, and the speakers and mics are all carried over.

The battery life, though, is now rated for double, which in this case equates to about 8 hours of general use. The charging case also gets a bump from 32 hours to 48 hours. The battery increase in the smart glasses is thanks to what Meta is calling “ultra-narrow steelcan” batteries—the same ones it’s putting in the Meta Ray-Ban Display, its smart glasses with a screen in them. On the video side of things, it’s upping the max resolution of recording to 3K and also introducing a 60 fps option, though that will only be available if you’re recording in 1080p. Unfortunately, for anyone who is more interested in still photos, the sensors are the same this generation. It’s 12 megapixels with a max resolution of 3,024 x 4,032.

That may not sound like a lot, but you can’t really understate the importance of battery life and videos in a pair of smart glasses—those are pretty important to any device that would dare encroach on phone territory. Even more important, though, is how videos look, and whether battery life is actually as advertised. On that front, Meta mostly delivers.

I often use my first-gen Ray-Ban Meta to record video while I’m biking, because recording with your phone in one hand while you’re on a bike in New York City is kind of a death wish. Here’s a side-by-side comparison of a still frame pulled from the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 1’s maximum 1080p video versus an image from the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2. As you can see in the screenshot on the right, the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 came out less blurry, which is to be expected with the resolution increase.

In my experience, the improved detail in image quality is fairly noticeable. Where some edges used to be blurred and a little too smooth, the videos recorded in 3K feel like a more accurate slice of life. That’s not going to be important to everyone (a lot of people are just going to take still photos), but if you’re like me and you want to capture some beautiful foliage on a bike ride, the upgrade is welcome.

There’s another aspect to the video upgrade, 60 fps, that I would have loved to test out for you guys, but unfortunately, it’s not available yet. According to a Meta representative, 60 fps will roll out in a software update for Ray-Ban Gen 2 on Oct. 1, coinciding with the release of the Oakley Meta Vanguard smart glasses. I’ll update this review once my review unit gets the 60 fps option.

What about the battery?

So, the other big piece of the puzzle is the battery. While it may not be as easy to test as shooting videos, I tried my best to use the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 for as long as possible. The verdict here is that, while you may not get the full 8 hours promised, you’re definitely getting a lot more battery than the Gen 1.

As is the case with any gadget, the battery life will largely depend not just on density or size but also on your usage. One thing that I love to do with the first-gen Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses is use them as open-ear headphones, and I think lots of people who own them would agree. The speakers are the same here, so there are no upgrades in fidelity, but I wanted to test the mileage when it comes to audio. Listening to a podcast and eventually a live radio broadcast (Buffalo Bills sports talk radio in case anyone wants to know), I was able to go about 5 hours, which drained the battery from 100% to about 15%. The volume was fairly loud, though (a metric that affects battery life), since I was listening in a crowded coffee shop and needed to overpower music and chatter. That’s not the 8 hours promised by Meta, but it’s also an improvement over the first-gen smart glasses, which usually expire fully after about 3 to 4 hours for audio streaming.

That’s not gold medal-worthy news, but again, your battery is going to depend on what you’re doing with the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2. My second-favorite use of Ray-Ban Meta AI smart glasses is taking calls with them. I hopped on a call with my mom, which lasted 32 minutes at full volume, and the smart glasses barely took a hit, battery-wise. I started at 100% and after more than 30 minutes of talking, they were at 96%. Again, your mileage here is going to vary based on what you’re doing. Taking lots of 3K video? Well, you can expect the Meta Ray-Ban Gen 2 to die sooner. Using them intermittently for audio and calls? You might get closer to the advertised 8 hours of battery life.

One thing is for sure: the battery definitely gets more juice, which should be welcome for anyone who’s sick of having to pop their smart glasses back in the case just so they can listen to some music while they go for a walk. How this battery will hold up under the strain of Meta Ray-Ban Display is anyone’s guess, but this is definitely the best battery in a pair of non-display Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses yet.

Should you upgrade?

Those are the two main arenas where you’re going to see improvements gen-over-gen, so if you feel like you want higher-res videos or you’re really yearning for more battery life, Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 should be on your radar. If you’re fine with how your smart glasses perform in those areas, though, I can’t see a reason to rush out and pick up a new pair. Whether the updates appeal to you or not, though, these are still the best pair of non-display Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses you can buy, even if I would have liked to see substantive improvements to things like Meta AI, which is still finicky at best. Still pictures could have used an update, too, but you’ll have to keep waiting for that.

As for connectivity to other apps, things are also the same. Spotify is what I use the most, and it works well most of the time. Meta’s voice assistant nails your simple commands the majority of the time (like skip this song or play and pause), but asking it to play specific songs or artists can be hit and miss. What’s also the same is the fact that messaging and calls are still limited. There is no direct integration with iOS and Android, so if you want to call or text with your smart glasses via the voice assistant, you’ll need to link your Instagram or WhatsApp. For some people, that will be fine, but for others who don’t use those platforms, it may be a dealbreaker.

Oh, and the Meta AI app still unfortunately loves to promote AI slop. And while it works fine for transferring and storing pictures and videos from your smart glasses, I still wish it didn’t shoehorn an LLM (large language model) in there.

As is the case with any of Meta’s products, you’re going to have to be okay with knowing that you won’t always get the best protections when it comes to personal privacy, too. As I’ve pointed out previously, Meta has a pretty bad track record on that front, so if the idea of Meta using photos and videos you take by using the “Hey, Meta” function to train its AI skeeves you out, you’d best steer clear of Ray-Ban smart glasses.

The second-gen glasses aren’t groundbreaking, but they’re improved. And for anyone who’s not willing to spend $800 on the Meta Ray-Ban Display, the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 are probably the only smart Ray-Ban smart glasses worth buying.

Good Boy review: Doggie horror that’ll have you on the edge of your seat

Good Boy is a haunted house movie quite unlike any ever made, as the slight story is told through the eyes of a dog, which makes for an unbearably tense viewing experience.

They say you shouldn’t work with children or animals on film, and while there isn’t a single kid in Good Boy, the entire movie revolves around a cute canine called Indy.

That dog belongs to co-writer (with Alex Cannon) and director Ben Leonberg, and he draws a remarkable performance out of his pet pooch – also called Indy – who appears heroic one minute, and terrified the next.

And while the story itself doesn’t quite live up to the furry star’s central turn, that clever conceit – and the brilliance with which it’s executed – makes Good Boy one of the most unique and original horror movies of the year.

What is Good Boy about?

The movie begins with Indy stressing over master Todd, who has clearly fallen ill in his apartment. Todd survives the medical emergency, but decides to move to the country for the sake of his health, so the pair of them up sticks and head to his late grandfather’s isolated house in the woods.

They arrive on a dark and rainy night, and it’s clear that Indy immediately has a problem with the place. You can’t blame him either. There’s plastic on the furniture, taxidermy on the shelves, plus creaky doors open of their own accord, to a creepy attic and even creepier basement.

“The cursed family house is a great place to relax,” jokes Todd’s sister Vera. But Todd seems blissfully unaware that something might be very wrong, even asking Indy “Am I crazy? It’s nice here, right?”

The dog doesn’t answer, for obvious reasons, but Indy starts witnessing shadows move, as well as a four-legged phantom only he can see roaming around the house.

The mystery deepens

While Indy is dealing with that paranormal threat, red flags also come Todd’s way, which he ignores, but we can use to try and piece the puzzle together.

Through old home movies – and conversations between the siblings – we learn that grandpa had a bunch of dogs, but they kept running away.

We also discover that no one ever stayed in the house for more than a few weeks aside from him, while a neighbor expresses surprise that Todd is staying there, after the way his grandpa died. Which Vera describes as “rotting from the inside out.”

The rest of the family hasn’t fared much better either, as the clan is buried in a nearby cemetery with one thing in common; they all died young. So what does it all mean?

Don’t expect every question to be answered

Unfortunately, while Good Boy poses multiple questions about the history of Todd’s relations and their cabin in the woods, the film is less interested in answering them.

There are useful details buried in throwaway lines, but just as much remains ambiguous, meaning those hoping for explanations and resolution will be frustrated by the third act.

But Good Boy is less about plot specifics, and more concerned with creating a mood. Human faces are rarely seen, being kept in the dark, or just out of frame.

Meaning it’s just us and the dog for most of the movie, a truly unique point-of-view from which to view events, and one that put me on the edge of my seat for the duration.

Is Good Boy good?

When Good Boy is a mystery movie about a house filled with secrets, it doesn’t really work, due to the scarce information on offer, and the amount that’s open to interpretation.

But when the movie focusses on Indy and that unseen force, it’s remarkable, thanks to superb framing, sound design, and shot choice, as well as that magical canine performance. I’ve never been more fearful for a character in jeopardy, and I’ve never been more proud when Indy does something selfless or brave.

Good Boy score: 4/5

Indy is a very good boy, and when the action revolves around him, Good Boy is a very good film.

Ethereum creator Vitalik Buterin has exited meme coins yet again, selling two different tokens in just a few hours, as per Onchain Lens. On-chain data shows the famous crypto developer offloaded 150 billion Puppies tokens for 28.58 ETH equivalent to about $114,000 and 1 billion ERC20 tokens for $13,900 in USDC.

The sums are small in the grand scheme of Ethereum, but the action is all too familiar. Back in 2021, Buterin got billions of Shiba Inu (SHIB) tokens from the project’s creators, then sent a big chunk of it to India’s relief fund and burned the rest.

That decision sent the SHIB community into a state of shock, wiped out part of its supply and, despite the sell-off pressure, became one of the biggest hype stories of that bull run, pushing SHIB deeper into the public eye and cementing its place in crypto history.

Will Shiba Inu coin story repeat itself?

It remains to be seen if this week’s sales will show the same pattern. Buterin doesn’t keep meme tokens in his wallets for long. ERC20 took a 70% hit after his transactions, and Puppies, which had been in the spotlight recently, faced extra scrutiny once the sales were recorded on the blockchain and spread across trading groups.

The upshot is always the same: Whenever Vitalik Buterin gets meme coins, he ends up selling them, and the market reacts straight away.

For traders, it’s just another reminder that tokens linked, even indirectly, to Ethereum’s creator don’t guarantee long-term holding, no matter how much short-term hype surrounds them.

Final Fantasy Tactics makes its triumphant return this week with an awesome enhanced edition called The Ivalice Chronicles. Still one of the greatest tactical RPGs of all time nearly 30 years later, Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles earned a 9/10 in our review. If you haven’t preordered a copy ahead of its September 30 release, Prime members can still get release-day delivery for the Amazon Exclusive Edition on Nintendo Switch and PS5. Tactics has a free Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade with improved graphics and frame rates.

The Amazon Exclusive Edition for Nintendo Switch and PS5 includes a double-sided poster in the box. The poster has character art on one side and the job class flowchart on the other. Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles costs $50 regardless of where you buy the physical edition, so it makes sense to snag a copy from Amazon while it’s still available.

Since the poster is included in the box, this technically isn’t a preorder bonus. That said, Amazon Exclusive Editions of games have been known to sell out before launch or shortly after. Once that happens, the next batch of copies from Amazon likely won’t have the poster inside.

The revamped version of the classic turn-based tactics game is also getting a Square Enix Store-exclusive Collector’s Box for $200, but it sold out not long after preorders opened in June.

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles is getting a jam-packed Collector’s Box that looks appropriately lavish for this all-time classic.

Here’s what you get with the Collector’s Box:

  • Special Art Box: Shown above, the box holding all of the merch has intricate character art against a decorative depiction of Ivalice in the background. Square Enix printed the artwork on matte-textured art paper.
  • Ramza Beoulve Figure (Akademy Version): It’s unclear how tall this figure is, but it is described as a “figure,” not a statue. That said, it does come with a base stand. Overall, this looks like a high-quality figure with vibrant colors and impressive attention to detail.
  • Mini Chocobo Plush Set: Adorable miniature plushies of the standard yellow Chocobo, Black Chocobo, and Red Chocobo. Each plush has an elastic loop, so you can connect it to a backpack or even your belt (if you’re especially cool).
  • Zodiac Stones Acrylic Magnet Set: All 12 Zodiac stones as acrylic magnets.
  • Outlying Church Pop-Up Diorama: A pop-up 3D display of the Outlying Church from the game. If you compare it to in-game screenshots, it looks like an faithful recreation.
  • Art Prints: Printed on glossy polypropylene (plastic) sheets, the three pieces of framable artwork feature: Ramza, a world map of Ivalice, and the key art that’s used for the standard edition of the remaster.

The Collector’s Box is available on its own for $200 or bundled with game for $250. If you choose the latter, the game will be packaged separately. This just means that the Collector’s Box is the same regardless of which choice you make, and the box, as shown above, doesn’t have a Nintendo Switch or PS5 logo on it. Since physical editions aren’t available for Xbox, PS4, or PC, a universal Collector’s Box makes sense.

This week’s Peacemaker episode ended with a twist fans have been calling for weeks, and now it’s affecting the show’s Fortnite presence.

At the end of Thursday’s “Ignorance is Chris,” the 11th Street Kids go to find Chris in the alternate universe he’s been hanging around in. Turns out it’s the Nazi dimension, made clear by Adebayo getting chased down by white people and the swastika in place of the 50 stars on the American flag. On Saturday night, Epic Games revealed it was disabling the “Peacemaker Hips” emote while it “inquires into our partner’s creative intentions. Assuming it’s not coming back, we’ll issue refunds in the next few days.”

The “Hips” emoji references the show’s season two intro, which has its cast flap their arms up and down in a way that makes them look like swastikas. That dance may also have been hiding the Nazi twist in plain sight (boy, what a sentence), so Epic’s spent two weeks potentially unaware that it was charging people 400 V-bucks (or $3.29) to make their characters dance like Nazis. At time of writing, neither WB or James Gunn have commented on the emote being disabled.

Fortnite’s no stranger to emote-related controversy, but the apparent secrecy behind the Peacemaker dance’s intent makes this all so fascinating from different angles. Is Gunn and WB at fault for not giving Epic a heads up about the meaning, or did the developer not do its job in properly vetting it? Is this just what happens as IP collaborations become so normalized, which Fortnite itself has had a hand in? The aftermath of this will be interesting to watch play out, and probably make the emote itself feel like an important part of the game’s ever-evolving life.
