Apple’s ‘Veritas’ chatbot is reportedly an employee-only test of Siri’s AI upgrades

by admin September 29, 2025

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman Apple is testing Siri’s upcoming revamp using an internal chatbot called Veritas. The company’s struggles as it tries to keep pace in the AI race are no secret. The next-gen Siri has been delayed multiple times and the debut of Apple Intelligence was met with a tepid response. Veritas gives Apple the ability to quickly develop, test, and collect feedback on new Siri features like “search[ing] through personal data… and perform[ing] in-app actions like editing photos.“

According to Gurman Veritas resembles other chatbot apps like ChatGPT and Gemini. Employees type requests, have back and forth conversations, and can even revisit old exchanges to dig deeper on a particular topic. But, at least for now, it doesn’t appear like there’s any plan to release it to consumers. (Which Gurman believes is a mistake.) Instead Apple plans to keep its internal chatbot just that, internal. Instead it’s looking increasingly likely that Apple is going to rely on Google’s Gemini for its AI-powered search.

Bad Bunny to headline Super Bowl LX halftime show

by admin September 29, 2025

Sep 28, 2025, 11:29 PM ET

LOS ANGELES — Bad Bunny will bring his Latin trap and reggaeton swagger to the NFL’s biggest stage next year: The Grammy winner will headline the Apple Music Super Bowl halftime show in Northern California.

The NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation announced Sunday that Bad Bunny will lead the halftime festivities from Levi’s Stadium on Feb. 8 in Santa Clara, California.

The Puerto Rican superstar’s selection comes amid another career-defining run. He’s fresh off a historic Puerto Rico residency this month that drew more than half a million fans and is leading all nominees at the Latin Grammys in November. He has become one of the world’s most-streamed artists with albums such as “Un Verano Sin Ti,” an all-Spanish-language LP.

Bad Bunny will host “Saturday Night Live” on Oct. 4.

“What I’m feeling goes beyond myself,” Bad Bunny said in a statement. “It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown… this is for my people, my culture, and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL.”

Roc Nation founder Jay-Z said in a statement that what Bad Bunny has “done and continues to do for Puerto Rico is truly inspiring. We are honored to have him on the world’s biggest stage.”

The 31-year-old artist born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio has won three Grammys and 12 Latin Grammys. He has become a global ambassador for Latin music, starred in films such as “Bullet Train,” “Caught Stealing” and “Happy Gilmore 2,” and collaborated with top fashion houses. He’ll enter the Latin Grammys as the leading nominee with 12, dethroning producer and songwriter Édgar Barrera.

Roc Nation and Emmy-winning producer Jesse Collins will serve as co-executive producers of the halftime show. Hamish Hamilton will serve as director.

“We know his dynamic performances, creative vision, and deep connection with fans will deliver the kind of unforgettable experience we’ve come to expect from this iconic cultural moment,” said Jon Barker, SVP of Global Event Production for the NFL.

Last year, Kendrick Lamar shined with guest SZA in New Orleans, setting the record for the most-watched Super Bowl halftime show with 133.5 million viewers. His performance surpassed the audience for Michael Jackson’s 1993 show.

“His music has not only broken records but has elevated Latin music to the center of pop culture, and we are thrilled to once again partner with the NFL and Roc Nation to deliver this historic performance to millions of fans worldwide,” said Oliver Schusser, the vice president of Apple Music and Beats. “We know this show will be unforgettable.”

Solana, Dogecoin and Others Lead Gains as Short Liquidations Top $260M

by admin September 29, 2025

In brief

  • Top alcoins have risen 3–4% in the past 24 hours, partially reversing last week’s sell-off.
  • About $345 million in crypto liquidations were recorded, mostly from short positions.
  • One analsyt expects near-term consolidation before capital rotation into select altcoin segments in Q4.

A weekend surge in crypto has partially erased last week’s losses as traders look to regain a bullish foothold in the market.

Solana, Dogecoin, Cardano, Ethereum, and XRP have led gains among the ten largest cryptocurrencies by market value, rising between 3% and 4% on the day, according to CoinGecko.

Nearly $260 million worth of short positions have been wiped out, bringing the 24-hour total for all liquidations to $345 million, according to CoinGlass figures.

Shivam Thakral, CEO of BuyUcoin, told Decrypt the uptick in Bitcoin has triggered a short-covering move, which in turn has amplified prices for altcoins.

Short covering occurs when sellers are forced to buy their positions to offset losses as the price moves against them.

Due to a correlation between Bitcoin and altcoins, Thakral expects prices to consolidate until traders begin rotating capital into altcoins sometime this week.

Looking to the fourth quarter, Thakral expects narrative-driven altcoin sectors, such as Layer 2, AI, and staking derivatives, to attract a bid.

While a handful of altcoins may experience “outsized returns,” others that lack “story, roadmap, and adoption” are likely to stagnate, he added.

Experts who previously spoke to Decrypt have shared a similar bullish outlook for Bitcoin and the broader crypto market, despite last week’s downtrend and institutional outflow.

The Fear and Greed Index, meanwhile, has bounced from fear territory last Friday to neutral as of Monday, according to CoinGlass data, reflecting the broader bullish sentiment following the weekend rally.

The overall crypto market capitalization hovers around $2.23 trillion, up 2.35% in the last 24 hours.

One Year Ago, Zelda Showed Going Smaller Can Still Mean Going Bigger

by admin September 29, 2025

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is celebrating its one-year anniversary today, September 26, 2025. Below, we look back at how it successfully married the flexibility of recent Zelda games with the top-down classics.

When Nintendo unveiled The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in 2017, it redefined what a Zelda game could be. Gone were the dungeon-by-dungeon progressions of earlier entries. Instead, players were dropped into a vast, living world and told to simply survive, explore, and discover.

Six years later, Tears of the Kingdom expanded that formula upward and downward, stacking floating islands and subterranean caverns around Hyrule’s sprawling surface. Together, those two games set a new standard for open-ended adventure.

Nintendo found a way to take those explorative and freedom-minded mechanics and distill them into something smaller with The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. Developed by longtime Nintendo partner Grezzo, Echoes of Wisdom may not match the raw scale of its predecessors, but it captures their essence–freedom–within its more compact world.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom

At first glance, Echoes of Wisdom recalls Grezzo’s remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening. It uses a toy-like tilt-shift perspective, the camera hovering high above a colorful overworld. But beneath the inviting diorama visuals is a design that borrows the creative heart of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.

Zelda, stepping into the protagonist’s role for the first time in a mainline entry, wields the Echo Rod, a tool that lets her record the properties of objects and creatures and then recreate them at will. Copy a rock and spawn it to form an impromptu bridge. Capture an enemy and unleash it as an ally.

This mechanic doesn’t simply mimic the weapon durability or crafting systems of the Switch epics; it reimagines their sandbox approach on a tighter canvas. Where Link fused weapons or combined objects to solve problems in Tears of the Kingdom, Zelda collects and redeploys echoes to achieve similar feats of improvisation. The result is a game that asks players to invent solutions within a gorgeous top-down diorama-like world, rather than follow a predetermined solution that was programmed by the game’s creators.

“These were the two basic elements, and from there, I asked them to think of ways to add some freedom. Having worked on games in the Legend of Zelda series over the years, we started to feel that fans may not continue playing this franchise unless they can think independently and try various things freely on their own, rather than following a set path,” Legend of Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma said in an interview published on nintendo.com. “Even when it comes to solving puzzles–in a game in the Legend of Zelda series, having the excitement of solving puzzles in your own unique way makes the game ‘Legend of Zelda-like.’ Hence, we need to increase the degree of freedom to achieve that. With this in mind, I asked Grezzo to use those two elements as a foundation for the gameplay and add freedom on top of it.”

Aonuma’s words crystallize what Echoes of Wisdom aims to accomplish: to preserve the exhilaration of experimentation that made Breath of the Wild a phenomenon, but without sprawling continents or hundreds of hours of content. The approach was widely praised when Echoes of Wisdom launched in 2024.

“Echoes of Wisdom’s brilliantly integrated echoes system links two eras, proving that the freeform mechanics of the new age can coexist with the franchise’s classic formula,” wrote Steven Petite in GameSpot’s review.

Dungeons, once linear obstacle courses, are now modular playgrounds where players choose their own solutions. Need to cross a chasm? Build a bridge of conjured beds. Want to defeat a boss without direct combat? Summon echoes of enemies to fight on your behalf while you stay safely out of reach. Each puzzle is less about finding the right answer and more about discovering your answer.

This freedom also enhances the game’s pacing. Echoes of Wisdom respects the player’s time, offering bite-sized challenges that can be completed in short sessions without sacrificing the thrill of discovery. It’s an ideal fit for the Nintendo Switch’s hybrid nature, encouraging players to dip in and out while still feeling like they’re shaping the world.

The shift to Zelda as protagonist reinforces this sense of new possibilities. Without Link’s traditional swordplay, combat becomes another puzzle to solve. The Echo Rod is a clever narrative and mechanical bridge: Zelda isn’t a warrior; she’s a scholar and strategist. Her power lies in observation and ingenuity, qualities that invite players to think differently.

By compressing the grand ideas of its predecessors into a smaller frame, Echoes of Wisdom also highlights what made Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom revolutionary. Those games were never just about scale–they were about agency. Climbing a distant mountain because you saw it on the horizon. Crafting a bizarre contraption to outwit an enemy. Stumbling upon a shrine or a sky island simply because curiosity led you there. Grezzo’s game asks: Can those feelings exist without a Hyrule a few dozen square miles wide?

Echoes of Wisdom is proof that freedom isn’t measured in miles. It’s measured in options, in the delightful uncertainty of not knowing exactly how you’ll overcome the next obstacle. The game invites players to be inventive, to experiment–qualities that made the Switch’s two massive Zelda adventures modern classics.

In distilling that formula into something more intimate, Nintendo and Grezzo have done more than create a side story. They’ve shown that the spirit of The Legend of Zelda–the wonder of exploring a world and bending it to your will–can thrive in any size. Whether you’re fusing giant mechs in Tears of the Kingdom or spawning a chain of beds to reach a hidden treasure in Echoes of Wisdom, the feeling is the same: freedom, pure and simple, echoing across Hyrule.

Bitcoin Price Reaches ‘Critical Junction’: How A Rally To $139,000 Would Play Out

by admin September 29, 2025

Trusted Editorial content, reviewed by leading industry experts and seasoned editors. Ad Disclosure

The onslaught continues as the Bitcoin price has failed to make a meaningful bounce, and the bears have kept the price suppressed below $110,000 for the majority of the weekend. This has already triggered fear in the market, with the Fear and Greed Index falling into the Fear territory, marking a new 5-month low. From here, the next direction of the Bitcoin price carries a lot of weight for the entire market, and the point at which the cryptocurrency is sitting is a decision-making point.

Bitcoin Price Falls Into Critical Junction

According to crypto analyst Weslad, who posted an interesting analysis on the TradingView website, the Bitcoin price is now sitting at what could be considered a make-or-break level. This critical junction lies at a major supply zone, and with the strong supply at this point, a rejection could quickly follow.

The crypto analyst explains that the Bitcoin price is currently still holding above the key demand zone of $106,269-$108,715, which is still very bullish for the price. In fact, this has been historically known as a point where the Bitcoin bulls have often held, supporting and triggering the next wave of uptrends.

This means that the bulls will have to keep holding this demand zone if they want to maintain the primary uptrend. In the case of a successful hold and a subsequent bounce and breakout with strong momentum, it could put the Bitcoin price on a path to clearing its all-time high above $124,000.

Moving further away from this point, the crypto analyst believes it is possible that this bounce could send the Bitcoin price rallying toward the $135,627-$139,616 target zone. This would be an over 20% increase for the cryptocurrency.

Source: TradingView

Bears Could Still Take Control

While it does seem that the bulls are holding the primary uptrend while keeping the Bitcoin price above the demand zone of $106,269-$108,715, there is still the possibility of bears taking over from here. Weslad points to the recent rejection from the $117,000 supply zone as proof that sellers are still very much active in the market.

If the selling were to continue, then the pressure could press down the Bitcoin price further, putting the key demand support at risk. If the bears were able to successfully break below the demand zone of $106,269-$108,715, then the crypto analyst expects the price to continue to struggle.

A downtrend from here could trigger another 10% crash, and such a crash could see the Bitcoin price moving straight toward $98,384. This break would mean Bitcoin losing the $100,000 psychological level for the first time in more than three months.

Vanguard to allow crypto access to brokerage clients

Vanguard prepares to open brokerage doors to crypto ETFs

by admin September 29, 2025

Vanguard, the most formidable holdout in asset management, is drafting plans for a strategic retreat. The $10 trillion giant is reportedly preparing to grant its brokerage clients access to crypto ETFs, signaling a profound shift in institutional acceptance.

Summary

  • Vanguard is reportedly preparing to let brokerage clients access third-party crypto ETFs, reversing its 2024 ban.
  • The shift follows rising client demand, regulatory changes, and new CEO Salim Ramji’s influence.
  • The firm still has no plans to launch its own crypto products.

On Sept. 26, crypto journalist Eleanor Terrett reported that Vanguard has initiated internal groundwork and external discussions to facilitate access to select third-party crypto ETFs for its brokerage clients.

According to a source familiar with the plans, the firm is acting in response to mounting client demand and a notably shifting regulatory landscape. The source emphasized that Vanguard is being “very methodical” in its approach, acknowledging the market dynamics that have evolved since the landmark ETF approvals in 2024.

Crucially, the report indicates this move does not include plans for Vanguard to launch its own proprietary crypto products.

From rejection to reconsideration

This potential pivot marks a stark departure from Vanguard’s firm stance in January 2024, when the firm blocked client access to the newly approved spot Bitcoin ETFs. At the time, the asset manager stated the products conflicted with its offering focused on traditional asset classes like equities, bonds, and cash, which it considered the essential building blocks of a long-term portfolio. It deemed Bitcoin’s volatility incompatible with its investment philosophy.

The road to this reversal, however, has been paved with telling clues. As Bloomberg Senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas noted, the appointment of Salim Ramji as CEO in mid-2024 was a critical signal.

Ramji, who personally oversaw the launch of BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), brought an insider’s understanding of the digital asset market to Vanguard’s top role. Balchunas had previously speculated that Ramji’s leadership could lead to a reversal of the ETF ban within a year or two, characterizing it not as a radical shift but as an incremental change for a platform that already offers gold ETFs.

This context makes the current developments appear less like a sudden about-face and more like the execution of a deliberate, CEO-led strategy. Further complicating Vanguard’s public skepticism was its quiet ascent to becoming the largest shareholder in Strategy, which is widely regarded as a publicly traded Bitcoin proxy.

According to Bloomberg, through its various funds, Vanguard accumulated an 8% stake in the firm. This substantial investment stood in sharp contrast to its public statements, suggesting a nuanced, if not contradictory, approach to gaining exposure to the digital asset ecosystem through traditional equity channels.

Hardware tinkerer fails spectacularly at building the world’s second worst graphics card, accidentally proving even crude TTL hacks can outlast expectations

by admin September 29, 2025

  • Crude GPU design showed random glitches whenever the system attempted memory writes
  • iNapGPU struggled with environmental noise from simple USB cables
  • A 12MHz counter overclocked to 20MHz caused constant instability

An obscure project on GitHub shows how a hardware hobbyist tried to construct what he called the “second world’s worst video card,” a text-mode graphics card using only TTL gates.

Working under the handle Leoneq, he released the “iNapGPU” repository to document his experiment.

His goal was to outdo Ben Eater’s “world’s worst video card” by making something even less practical.

A minimal design that still exceeded true VGA limits

Despite deliberately using crude methods, he could not reduce the output below a basic VGA resolution.

The project specifications list VGA output at 800 x 600 (actually SVGA) @60Hz, with an accessible resolution of 400 x 300 in monochrome.

The hardware was built from 21 integrated circuits, including counters, NAND gates, and an EPROM working with a small SRAM.

By treating a 1-Mbit EPROM as a 1-bit memory, Leoneq could load up to four character sets of 255 characters each.

Sign up to the TechRadar Pro newsletter to get all the top news, opinion, features and guidance your business needs to succeed!

However, using tri-state buffers and a basic counter arrangement led to visual artifacts and poor stability.

Even when using a low-capacity memory and avoiding a microcontroller, the design still could not degrade to something below VGA.

Leoneq admitted that the assembly process was awkward, relying on 0.12mm wire on a protoboard rather than a printed circuit board.

You may like

He described the result as terrible and warned others to “use fpga instead” to avoid similar frustrations.

The HSYNC timer was driven by a 12-bit counter rated for only 12MHz at 15V, yet he pushed it to 20MHz to double Ben Eater’s pixel clock.

He compared only the “ones” of counter outputs instead of full numbers, a shortcut that introduced repeated signals without breaking the display.

The unconventional approach kept the card functional, but it also revealed timing errors and unstable output.

This was never a viable graphics card because image glitches occurred whenever it wrote to memory, as it could not write and read simultaneously.

Also, environmental noise, even from a nearby USB cable, distorted the display.

In addition, the characters lacked clarity due to ROM power and read-time limitations, while unexplained lines appeared in the background.

Leoneq openly labeled the image as ugly and described the entire effort as a “huge waste of time.”

Although the project demonstrated that a crude collection of TTL gates could generate a usable VGA signal, it also shows why modern designers prefer programmable logic like FPGAs.

Leoneq’s repository provides conversion tools and test code for Arduino Mega, but the effort seems more like a technical joke than a practical product.

Cardano price at risk of a deeper dive as key DeFi metrics crash

Cardano price at risk of a deeper dive as key DeFi metrics crash

by admin September 29, 2025

Cardano price has plunged into a bear market by over 24% from the year-to-date high; technicals in the DeFi industry point to more downside.

Summary

  • Cardano price has formed a head-and-shoulders and a rising wedge pattern on the daily chart.
  • The total value locked in its DeFi ecosystem has plunged in the past few weeks.
  • It is not benefiting from the GENIUS Act as the stablecoin supply has crashed.

Cardano (ADA) token dropped to $0.7736, its lowest level since Aug. 12, mirroring the performance of most altcoins like Ethereum and Solana.

One of the key fundamental reasons for the plunge is the Cardano’s decentralized finance ecosystem has underperformed its peer chains. The total value locked has plunged to $320 million, its lowest level in months and much lower than the year-to-date high of $680 million.

Cardano has not had any major new DeFi applications in its ecosystem this year. The biggest names in its ecosystem are platforms like Liqwid, Minswap, and Indigo.

Meanwhile, Cardano is not benefiting from the recently passed GENIUS Act as the total stablecoin supply in its network has dropped by 4.4% in the last seven days to $37 million. This supply is much smaller than other newer blockchains like Unichain, Linea, and Plasma.

Cardano’s decentralized exchange ecosystem has also gone quiet, with the volume continuing to falling. These DEX networks handled just $1.4 million in the last 24 hours.

Additionally, there are signs of little institutional demand for Cardano as only Grayscale has filed for a spot ADA ETF. In contrast, coins like Solana (SOL) and Ripple (XRP) have attracted at least 7 applications.

Cardano price technical analysis

ADA price chart | Source: crypto.new

A technical analysis suggests further downside for the Cardano price in the coming weeks. It has formed a rising wedge pattern on the daily chart. A closer look reveals that it has already moved below the lower side of this pattern, indicating further downside.

Cardano price has also formed a head-and-shoulders pattern and has already crashed below the neckline.

ADA price has plunged below the 50-day and 100-day Exponential Moving Averages, a sign that bears have prevailed.

The Average Directional Index has moved to 22, indicating that the downtrend is intensifying.

Therefore, these patterns suggest a potential downside, potentially reaching the June low of $0.5095, which is approximately 35% below the current level.
