EA FC 25 82+ x20 Upgrade V1 SBC vs V2 SBC

A new renewable SBC, the 82+ x20 Upgrade, has been released in EA FC 25, splitting the community in half.

The new SBC has two versions, depending on their requirements. The outcome is the same: a pack that contains 20 different items rated 82 or higher. However, one of the two versions is superior, which makes it important for you to invest properly. After all, plenty of amazing player and icon SBCs are currently available on the Ultimate Team, so being judicious with your fodder is recommended.

Which 82+ x20 Upgrade SBC should you do in EA FC 25?

Let’s quickly review the requirements of the two versions.

  • V1 requires you to submit two squads. The first squad needs five 85-rated items (and any two lower-rated cards), and the second requires four 86-rated items (and any two lower-rated cards). You’ll have to submit five 85-rated and four 86-rated items.
  • V2 requires you to submit only one squad. However, the requirements are steep: 1x 87-rated item, 1x 88-rated item, 2x 89-rated items, and 2x 90-rated items.

Considering the respective pros and cons, V1 is the better choice.

With UTOTS in packs, it’s the perfect time to open packs. Naturally, your squad will be stacked with fodder. The odd rates of obtaining 85 and 86-rated items are usually considered to be higher (although EA Sports never discloses the exact rates) than 89 or 90-rated items.

Secondly, the total number of 85 and 86-rated items exceeds 89 and 90-rated items. Naturally, you’ll enjoy better luck packing the first kind than the second one. Thirdly, there are very few packs that guarantee higher-rated items.

Hence, you’ll be more likely to pack 85 and 86-rated items. Also, major SBCs like Kevin De Bruyne’s End of an Era require many cards rated 90 or higher. Using them on casino SBCs like the 82+ x20 Upgrade makes little sense.

As of writing, I haven’t enjoyed much luck opening the 82+ x20 Upgrade SBCs, but it’s still an effective way to use your 85-rated and 86-rated fodder, especially if you’re running out of duplicate storage.
